Amiga was the greatest system ever. period. i feel like the system is a very special part of me...it will never die. i will never throw my A1200 away...i will have it until the day i die. i learnt all i know of computers by using the Amiga. it holds so much memories and all my youth is hidden in its chipset...it is a part of my soul. this advert is very spiritual, its like Commodore knew they were entering their user's souls for eternity. :-)))
@XSnowmanDK ... I'm all Amiga too, the best system on the planet period!.
Amiga died because they went bankrupt due to being poorly managed but it was a shame. Games were and still are the best with awesome music and always fun to play over and over again. I still play the Amiga, the Amiga will live inside me until the day I die. Amiga was the best time of my life and nothing even came close today to how much fun I had,
This was in 1985... I simply don't understand how people slobber all over the mac yet rarely mention the Amiga... The Amiga was lightyears beyond anything Apple had.
The 1980's 8-bit era was so exciting. Today, computers have no soul........and the Micorsoft versus Apple (yawn) war is no where near as exciting as the Atari ST v Commodore Amiga 500 slugfest. Back then, comparing software and your baby's hardware capabilities in the school yard or CPU club was exciting, engaging and fraught with nerd aggression. No such thing now, we have been conditioned to accept mediocre generic machines that we have 2 upgrade every couple of years.BORING(yes,so is ipad)
James is right. The sound, the color, the creativity in the games and software were all ahead of their time. GOD I miss my 500. Who remembers Shadow of the Beast the first time they saw it?? Captain Blood? Defender of the Crown?? You felt peaceful and creative when you used it without the anger or arrogance of a Mac user.
This is a great commerical, in that, besides a sense of "getting to one's goal" amidst mysterious & beckoning scenery, it also has a SENIOR CITIZEN doing the searchin! (A joke I read:: Inside every older person is a young one, wondering, 'What the Heck Happened/?!!!
Is that ADDISON POWELL, (who played 'Dr. Eric Lang' on 'Dark Shadows'), made up to look older, in this commercial? And who composed the wonderful music? Wish they made commercials like this today!
Good computers, but the ads are not so good. At least the one of the C64 where the robot girls undress the nerd dude is hilarious (Hint: Italian ad). This one looks like a odd dream of a videogame coder mixed with a bad reference to that "2001" movie.
Perhaps if they would simply have shown something similar to those Newtek demos, then the Amiga would have sold better...had Amiga succeeded on the level of the Mac, the Tech world might be somewhat different today....the Amiga was truly a generation ahead of anything else out there and deserved better than the fate it received.
Compare a PC from the mid-to-late 80's to an Amiga, and it (the PC) will look like a piece of crap!!!
I saw this when it aired and thought it was compelling right up until the fetus. It's kinda like sitting on Santa's lap and telling him what you want for Christmas, then he calls you "Helen" and barfs all over you.
Thanks for posting this, I've been wanting to see the so-called "fetus on a stick" commercial for ages! What an epic failure! 35 seconds of a man walking to a computer, way to sell a computer Commodore...

Kinda reminds me of Hellraiser. Maybe Mr.Commodore opened that puzzle box and amiga ascended from hell. Great times.
