  • Good narrative. The comments were thoughtful and insightful. Thank you.

  • I loved the commentary because I cannot get enough of these women. I feed on all things Beale. It's sad how Little Edie never feels whole because she doesn't have a husband. I think she's wonderful just as she is.

  • The fact that all they see is themselves every event every year.Major personality disorders

  • Who's the other guy in this discussion? Why isn't he credited?

  • Oh my God, this is soooo over analysed. The young one is very sexy and glamorous.

  • I am totally obsessed about them too...amazing story...I cant get enough...

  • I love both documentaries and the new film. I can't get enough of the Beale's story. The new book on Little Edie's life 'Edith Bouvier Beale: A life in pictures' is fabulous.

  • Can you still watch the Grey Gardens documentary on youtube?

  • I saw this when i was 12 or so and i always recalled it but could not remember the name-and here they are again!!Such fascinating people.I wonder what happened to the records and photos?

  • Im with you swamp. Ever I had seen the original about a year ago, I was conpletey drawn in. When I found out Barrymore and Lange were doing the remake, I waited impatiently. There performances were on cue, superb and the accent down to the T. Emmys are much deserved especially for Drew. I cant help watch clips and get the movie for myself.

  • i'm becoming obsessed with these two ladies.

  • 9:15 I've read over and over that little Edie developed almost instant crushes on any reasonably attractive man around her. She seems naturally very flirty and enjoying of male attention!

  • I watch this film at least 4 times a year. I love these women. Thank you for your commentary. I found it very interesting.

  • I understand your point of view. Well at least one of the filmmakers wrote to me thanking us for bringing out some aspects of the film that has been under-appreciated (such as how much of the story was constructed in the editing process). That message alone was worth the effort of making this video.

  • The film itself has great value. As a matter of fact I have seen it several times and find it to be brilliant. It's your and your pals analysis that I could do without. I prefer the original filmakers complete version and their comments which were inspired by the actual subjects of the film.

  • @pearldrop2 I'm with you. Little Edie finally had a receptive ear for the story of her life and so she told it and explored it while the cameras were in the house. Like anyone who doesn't have a lot of company you bring out the photos and memorabilia. Quit trying to make out that they are that dif. to anyone else. You have enough religious sickos in the US.

  • The voice over speakers are over intellectualizing and apparently enjoy hearing themselves speak. Shut the hell up. They were just two eccentrics that enjoyed life in their own way and it was beatifully captured in this film. It does not require explaination or interpretation. Make on documentary and then comment on that. Idiots.

  • I'm sorry that you have this response to the video. I've received emails and other comments that have expressed appreciation for the video. Some have even referred to it for educational use in schools to help students understand the film. I hope that you can see the value it may have for others. Thanks for watching.

  • Good grief 68. You are arrogant to think u know what I need. Fact is, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the movie version due out this year. Don't try so hard to read so much into others comments.

  • I just rented the doc. I wonder what the daughters condition is. Schizophrenia of some sort, probably brought on by isolation. If they had been in their right mind, they wouldn't have let the movie cameras in the house.

  • Edie was peculiar, certainly, as was her mother. But to try to apply sterile, clinical labels to these ladies (as so many newcomers to this film do ) actually reveals more about a viewers need to "neaten up" the experience of watching this film and "manage" the mystery and richness out of it. These women were a product of a time and traditions that the current, frenzied, "efficient " world have completely forgotten. They were damaged aristocrats and thwarted artists and defiant women.
