  • This would be so much better if a helmet hire machine was also available.

It could work of the same infrastructure as a locker hire system, just put a sensor in the locker to detect if there is a helmet in the locker. So that when a person hires a helmet it will open a locker with a helmet in it and when the return one it will direct them to an empty locker and ask them to replace the helmet in that locker.

  • Melbourne has 450 bicycles. we average 183 trips a day

Dublin also has 450 bicycles. it averages 3020 trips a day

Why? Simple. No (farcical) helmet laws (in ALL of Europe).

Loose the antiquated, kneejerk nanny law & watch Melbourne transform!

  • @MelbourneBikeShare so when you pay by credit card, can you take care of the AU$160 fine you'll get for biking without a helmet? This is such a (bad) joke!

  • What a poor public presentation of a new system... Really, really poor quality presentation.... Who is responsible for this puke-of-a-presentation!?

  • Good luck, but unless the helmet is revoked to match that in 95% of other cities with similar schemes this is going to have very limited success.

  • @MelbourneBikeShare

    How about helmet?

  • Yeah. Where's his helmet?

  • cool
