You can see is your city fortified or not by looking the city from the gameplay screen, if there's a flag in sight coming out of the city, then it's fortified, but I guess you already know that now. :)

Adults should learn, that historical games like Civilization educate students faster because they're like being there and commanding the armies. It's more fun than just sitting at a desk, writing down what happened on someone's wife's cousin's friend's grandfathers' father's friend's son.

@craziii3 Civ 2 is terrific too, on the level of civ 3. The game is more simple, which has both pros and cons, compared to civ 3. You should try it, it's available freely on the web now. It's highly addictive.

You should build the cities so the white spaces are just touching, otherwise other civilizations could come and build their cities in between yours!!!

I remember a poll on CivFanatics just prior to the release of Civ4 that asked which was the best Civ ever. CivII was the clear victor, Civ3 not an overly inspiring addition to the series and Test of Time taking what was a great game and not really doing anything with it but making it worse. I think now Civ4 generally polls as the best, which I'd agree with. CivII is still an awesome and timeless classic though and I really miss my council of advisers :( BUILD CITY WALLS!

good memories with this game. i always remember staying up late at night yntil about 4am on school nights playing this, and the next day feeling like shit and not concentrating. Still, I know I learned a shit more knowledge after a civ 2 binge than what I had learned in class.

civ 2 is the best civ game ever made and one of the best turn based strats/god sims ever made.

challenging and intricately complex, but also simple in its way. classic game. i never thought that they could top Civilization, but civ 2 was(is) awesome.

With MGE, you can play multi-player with a friend on the same computer, if you have somebody over. I'm not sure where you'd find the Mac edition of MGE though (if it exists).

for the normal version without internet, just go on a hotseat game, thats all I do. Best Scenario for Civ2 is First Strike 2(download it) it's awesome it's the cold war, but your not trying to CAUUSE a war, but you get to have proxy wars (where you dont fight directly, you fund another country for fighting.)
