Windsurfing vs. Kitesurfing

:) Maybe windsurfing looks cooler but it's realllllllyyyy long for ride a windsurf like this jumping is really hard in windsurf :)

But you can jump in kitesurf after 2 days of lesson .

I had windsorfed for 5 years and I've just started kitesurfing three days ago and KITESURFING IS BY FAR COOLEEEERRR , really far. There is just 0 theory and just controlling the kite is funnier than riding a windsurf. I hope I helped.

kitesurfing is more for big winds, and then you can kite surf when there is not enough wind to windsurf!

ive never tried kitesurf, would like to but windconditions in my city do not give me the chance to practice it... anyway I'm a windsurfer and I simply love the sport!

I think it goes both ways, in the short term KB mite be the trend, but long term people will respect both the same. Windsurf takes ages to get good at, KB is more dangerous.

I would say learn both (kite for light to medium winds and windsurfing for medium to strong winds....)so you can go out there more often and work less!!!

kitesurfing is alot easier than windsurfing, windsurfing takes years to get good enough to wave jump , kitesurfing is the alternative for people hu arnt bothered to take the time to learn windsurfing, personal opinion, but i do think kitesurfing is very cool and a great sport

@georginio4 yea you got it exactly on the point.. kitesurfing is a good alternative for failed windsurfers... people who try it and can't get any better or who are just too lazy.

Once you can windsurf properly, you would not even think about kitesurfing...

i am now 14 years old and have been windsurfing when i was 10, windsurfing is just way cooler than kitesurfing! kitesurfing is also too dangereus, i've seen people die with kitesurfing, so buy a board, buy a sail and go windsurfing! ;d

@joraneke100 stop being such a pussy man. windsurfing is cool, but it's not a chalange. kitesurfing isnt dangerous if u know what your doin... and with the new kites it's not dangerous even if u dont know what ur doin. and u can jump higher, waayy higher. kitesurf is just cooler. i've tried both. they both suck in the begining, when u'r learning. but as soon as u know how to ride, u star doin waves, jumping higher an higher, goin faster. it's just magic. pura fuckin amazing magic

there is many things u need to consider like wind surfing is challenging alotee harder to learn and some heavy equitment.kite bording fun dangerois pain if u the kite lands in water on the break but fun and dangerouse not as fast but its fun and u can do more tricks and stay in the air longer there both amasing but if u wanna have alote fun with it do what me and my friend do get the windsurfing and wake board aka kite board then get a thing to hold on to and use the wind board as a boat

I think that the big difference comes on the wave riding. Windsurfing really gives you the surf feeling rather than be tolled arround by the kitte. I also wouldnt want to fall under a wave with the kitte lines arround me...Kitesurf kiks ass on flat water and is easier to progress and freestyle, but I disagree on how fast it is. On average spots, windsurfng is much faster.

I am windsurfing for 6 years now and I know a couple of moves. This summer I ve tried kitesurfing and I was amazed of its possibilities. Kite is much easier to learn and progress. In any case though these sports should compliment each other. Kitesurfing for light wind conditions and when things get harder you should switch to windsurf. That 's my opinion guys and i am sure that most of you who tried both should agree.

I'm sure a good directional board will have you equaling the speed of slalom windsurfers at your spot. The only kiters i've talked to who were disappointed about their speed were on entry level twintips. You wouldn't take a park snowboard down a super G course, or take a wavesailing board to Sandy Point.... so if you want speed in ordinary conditions you need it stiff, flat and with good fins and get well powered up.

@tanodamorire no per carita...senza toccare i record mondiali, che sono un mondo diverso da quello a cui appartengono i poveri mortali come noi...in acqua perfettamente piatta...no io ti parlo di mare aperto dove il windsurf ha l'handicap di sfruttare il vento di superficie, che per via delle onde ha una natura turbolenta...il kite lo prende a 25 mt dove e' indisturbato e costante...amen

Wrong kitesurfing is the one of the safest water sports in the world IF you have been taught properly and kitesurfing is equally as challenging and amazing as windsurfing look at one of the pros riding there are soooo many tricks in there quiver. also beginners to kitesurfing can perform tricks alot faster than u can windsurfing. Next time u comment doyour research and consider both sides
