this boss fight was easy just using bolt ice restore materia and starting out wit limit on teh dark nation somhow hit before he could barriar XD

Another good strat against this guy is

1. Put yourself in thew back row, his attacks will deal about 25.

2. Previously in the game, buy grenades and use them on the boss. They deal about 145 damage and even in the back row they deal the same amount.So Dark Nation basicly gets one shotted by them. They also go through the barrier so the fight usually ends in about 5 turns.

You can do this strategy at any level and without any materia and no need to heal even once if done correctly.

you need only to throw grenades at rufus

the lil beast you can ignore.

the shield holds physical attacks and magic,but no grenades ;) with this trick you can defeat him under 2 minutes :)

My favorite boss fight in the game, I'd usually fuck around with Rufus instead of killing him. The one on one aspect of the whole fight is just awesome. Fast paced and dynamic camera. Awesome

who else tried leveling up to like lvl.30 when ure here? Lemme tell ya, its a waste of bloody time, it put like 25 hrs on my game time and it make the rest of the game quick but slow... DO NOT LVL UP TO 20 OR ABOVE BEFORE EVEN GETTING TO KALM! (Trust me).

1. why didn't you steal the hardedge before coming here? it's a boss-ass (no pun intended) pickup.

2. the fight is also much easier if you tell people to put elemental+lightning in the armor.

1. To show that its possible to beat them with a weaker weapon (I get this question everyday).

2. Dark Nation is the only one who casts lightning, and he always protects himself and Rufus with Barrier/Mbarrier first. So you just cast two lightnings (as shown in the video) and Dark Nation is dead...there goes Elemental+lightning.

I know but ive beat it so many times on speed through so I did that. I been playing my new file and im heading to the temple of the ancients and Cloud has omnislash Aries has Great Gospel Red XIII has Cosmo Memory and Yuffie has All Creation. They all are at 55+ and it took about 20 hours. All materia is mastered so far.

On my file i train so when I leave Midgar im in the high teens and last time i entered Junon at 35 with Cloud with finishing touch, Barret Ungarmax, tifa, red XIII, Aries, and Yuffie all with last limit level three. It took a while but the game was very easy after that.

Thats why you don't do that. Its much more fun when the game is hard. I am sure you remember your very first RPG (depending on what it was). Super mario RPG was mine.. and I never once took the time to split off and level. I always just played through and it PISSED ME OFF cause I always died at like every bossfight.

Don't attack Rufus. Use poison instead. The poison will rack up tons of damage, and will probably give him the status anomaly of poison. The materia for this can be found next to the save point by the elevator in Hojo's lab.

Could use poison, but thunder knocks both their clocks off much quicker. Poison consumes extra time.

Poison does take a little more time to cast, but does do much more damage, especially if you give them the status effect. To each their own though, I guess ^_^
