well ive Tried These Amps man and They Sound Trebily only When Feeding it throw A jazz Bass or something with Single coil stuff ... try playing this Amp threw a Yamaha BB .. those big ass humbuckers sound badd ass man bad bad ass ;)
The problem with the connectors on this amp is that the contact inside the socket does not sit behind the top edge of the jack. It sits on the edge thus not securely holding the plug. I cut off the top couple of mm from my sockets to allow the plug to go in further. Just the bit with no thread. They lock in much better now. I did this with the amp out of it's case but you could do it in situe just avoid the filings going inside the socket by stuffing the holes with tissue and fish it out after.

wtf. How is it possible to understand the sound if you just slap and tap. 90% of a bassmans work is fingerstyle or plekstyle. This was just wanking of a crazy dude nothing more.
Oh ok bro, well thanks for looking out! Ok, so you dont reccomend this amp? I was going to buy it, then what ampeg would you reccomend? I play in a church of around 300 people, I want to get the best pro sound possible in the budget! Thanks alot!
ok whoa whoa whoa people...don't you dare say shit about Ampeg...ok yes this amp is shit...but every company makes a mistake once...Ampeg is the pioneer of bass amps you can't say shit about them
hmm well you have a point there...i love Ampeg i really do...i once had the chance to play one of those really rare B15 fliptops...i absolutely loved it but i guess those days are over
how are hartke amps? i was interested in one of those 410 hybrid combos
You know you could buy cables that lock into the amp and your bass, then even if you step on the cable you pull it out. Check em out, this amp sounds to nice to let such a small problem ruin it.
I don't know what it's called exactly, but it's a cable that clips into the jack, My friend and teacher uses them.
Basically the the male end of the wire is a little bigger than the hole it goes into, a small button pinches it together so it fits, and while it's it has a some pressure keeping it in.
Most guitar center stores have them and a few different brands make them. Again I forget what it's called, but seems like some thing to look into.
Hey, i'm in a band and we're playing live shows soon. I need a new bassamp for those shows... do u think this one would be good enough? And how much does it cost?
Great review - great slapping - nice (and funny) guy!! "This is not an endorsement, I wish it was, but you know, I really don't crae that much".
Thanks nsjax... Although I was thinking of buying this as a backup amp (in case my main one dies during a gig) for metal, you have convinced me that this does not sound anything like an SVT Pro with a 8 by 10 cab, which is the crunchy, solid sound I was after. Sad to hear about the build quality too. Thanks again big guy!
It sounded great to me man, (though having a decent player playing it helped too!), how did this puppy deal working with a band?, she keep up or struggle?. Rouke2001
You left a reply a week back?, you'd said about a bass amp a combo means two speakers right?, a combo means a power amp and speaker all in one, (sometimes the power amp cabinet and speaker cabinets come seperatly, you buy them seperatly and connect them with a wire), a combo, is an all in one unit, begginers often start off with one like this, power and speaker all in one. Rouke2001
I got the ba 115hpt it is amazing tone is so good. I haved played on peavey behringer and swr it sounds the best any guitar will sound good on it. Some amps only sound good with certain basses I am going to put a video on youtube on it for a review. The punch and tone is amazing.
i need help tho understanding wats the the importance of a combo amp? i mean from what i know all u can do is plug in 2 basses, thats it... is there something more?
It sounds crystal clear. I bought the BA 300 15 inch. Like you, I was after it for over half a year+. The let down was it was it was suppose to be 40 lbs. Yeah right! 65 + lbs!!!! Oh well , It sounds to good to part with so I kept it. Anyways, keep praising Jax. I'm putting this vid in my favs. to learn from you. God bless.
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS AMP. I played it for about 1 month. It's not worth the $1000, not even $500. The sound is great. The weight is light. BUT.......... When I play with certain Audio plugs with some deep bass, the vibration from the amp makes the audio cable pop out. it's unprofessional and embarrassing during a song, and the bass STOPS. so I got the 210 version. This was worst. The amp died, needed restarting every time to reset. at any volume.

Hey mate, still advising against buying this amp? features are all there... does it handle the 600W or does it start farting when driven loud?
cinghialemannaro76 5 months ago
@cinghialemannaro76, I starts Farting but not that bad. as I remember it handled the
wattage well, it was mainly the construction.
they could have installed a Locking input Jack.
and external speaker out, to handle the Loud Raw Power and Max Volume.
I'd be willing to try an updated version, if nothing has changed, I'd stay away from Ampeg,
because they are saying they do not care for their Bass players.
They need to read Post on YouTube and get REAL WORLD Feedback! it's been 3 long years

@ghaibboy, haters will always exist. I don't have to be the best, even Wooten is not the best..
Being the best is in the opinion of a listener, and some have no idea of the art they
are listening to.
Even though I am just testing an amp, my playing got someone's attention.
So I must take it with a grain of salt. and say
"if everyone thought I was great, then most would be telling a lie"
So I play, to please myself, since I make money to play, I know some love my playing.
enough to pay me.
Hater?

elvyn07 1 year ago
@elvyn07 Start with a used Mark bass Head (500wts and very lightweight)
get any cab (410) until you can save for a better one (used)
Cabs: USA AMPEG 410 HLF
Mesa 410
Hartke 410 buy your head, then try the cabs with the Markbass head

@elvyn07 does it have to be an ampeg?
What about a head and a cab? what is your budget?
check out the new Hartke, or SWR, I like the Markbass combo units too
nsxaj 1 year ago
Hey man, first thanks for the vid! just one question, did you ever connect ANY ampeg with the XLR for live performance?
elvyn07 1 year ago
@elvyn07, Vid: No problem, just looking out fo my bas bro's and Sista's
XLR: you're speaking of ampeg amps for Direct out?
as for that, this is the only Ampeg "amp" I've owned.
I mostly used Ampeg Cabs, and other heads.
But I did have an ampeg Bass Pre (SVT III, I think) that was XLR'ed
for studio recording, and some live gigs, it sounded great,
but that was almost 15 years ago.

Hey there... We know ampeg is a ... well was a great company.
But you are only as great as your last big hit.
they need to listen to their customers, after all, WE put these products to the real test. If the BA-600 was built better,
I'd post another Vid, jammin the crap out of it and I'd play it
for a year exclusively.
Ampeg sucks because, They don't listen, to make improvements. I met Larry Hartke last week.
at least he's connected with his players. that's how you improve of a product.

Thanks, I will consider checking this cable out, but this amp
has so many other major issues, the cable was the least of them. why won't Ampeg post a resolution here on this site?
oh, they made their mula already.

You know you could buy cables that lock into the amp and your bass, then even if you step on the cable you pull it out. Check em out, this amp sounds to nice to let such a small problem ruin it.
mpeng 2 years ago
well, I admit, I don't know everything but I thought is was the "INPUT JACK" that you can buy to make a cable lock in the input,
not the cable itself... I could be wrong.
please show a link to this type of cable.
either way, why spend hundred's of dollars on an amp that you have to modify
just to make it work properly (we are NOT
talking HOT RODDING IT, we just want it
to work in a normal manner, out the box).

The Main Purpose of a Combo Bass Amp in my
Opinion is:
1. to carry your entire bass sound system, making 1 trip from the car to the stage.
2. Correct Speaker (ohms) Matched to the Amp it was intended for, by the Manufacturer.
3. Plug and Go!, no need to have a speaker cable.
(there have been a few gig, where the bass player forgot the speaker cable (amp to speaker), &
could not play the bass due to no sound.
4. Intended Factory sound. the way it was tested
at the factory (Amp & Cabinet).
