Honestly I am not the person to ask, because my uke is a cheap generic brand from a random local music shop. From what I understand, Mahalo's a good uke company. As for the type, it depends on what kind of music you want to play - I'd recommend trying out as many as you can.

I'll look into Mahalo. Uke's are getting pretty popular. Off subject, I'm not sure if you like Amanda Palmer or Regina Spektor, but you're like a perfect mixture of both of them.

Thanks :) I grew up listening to Regina, so my stylistic centre's definitely close to hers.. As for Amanda, I like her as a person but can't seem to really get into her music or voice, as much as most of my friends are obsessed with her.
