@TheBackWoodsMan27 My main bait is granola but it's good to mix it up from time to time and keep them coming early. Peanut butter sticks to everything and keeps them on your pile longer for a potential shot instead of grabbing bait and leaving to eat it. Some used cooking oil stays on their pads and brings in other bears as they cross their tracks. My 3 favorites.

@Kellyrt Penut butter works great! I use it with other sweets like granola for an irresistable treat they'll have to keep coming back for. We get it from a supplier in MI who only sells bear bait. He gets it in southern MI and hauls it up here to sell for a profit. It goes for 100 bucks for a 50 gallon drum. I'm pretty sparing with it and it lasts throughout the season. They don't always have pure penut butter though. Ask around whos selling bear bait and it may lead you to some =)
That was a great video. Thanks as I am bear hunting for the first time. I have bears hitting my one bait, as I only have one treestand. I am using expired donuts from tim hortons and vanilla&maple syrup spray. I saw 6 bears last tuesday but none since. I don't know if they are only hitting my bait at night or early morning.

I will be moving trail cameras and studying carefully to try to get myself and my guests on the best bear I can. I need to find an outlet for cheap peanut butter. We use a lot of old fryer grease as we get a ton of it for free and they will track it all over the area. Those bears get in your blood don't they?

I think they paid around 100 bucks for a barrel of peanut butter but it goes along way using it with something cheaper like granola. I gotta find me some free grease too. Someone sat on that bait 5 days in a row waiting for that big one. He was coming in all times of the day. Once right after I left the bait...dinner bell! He never showed and we wondered if maybe a first seaon hunter got it the week earlier.

Have you ever tried using old cooking oil from a deep fryer? That's what we use and it works pretty damn good. You can usually get it for free from a bar or a restaurant.

They snoop around camp every once in a great while but we keep the lids tightly sealed and things pretty tighty. I'm in Northern Michigan.

Have you ever tried using old cooking oil from a deep fryer? That's what we use and it works pretty damn good. You can usually get it for free from a bar or a restaurant.

Very Interesting stuff!! We ain't got no bears here in Texas, but I bet a molasses based juice like that would drive the Hogs and Deer crazy down here! I've never seen a Bear in a Trail Cam Pic before.

All this work and I don't even have a tag. I wasn't drawn for one but I have a good chance next year. 6 guys from our camp have bear tags. It starts next Tuesday and I'll be following along with my camera!

Be nice to see the critter that left the track on #2. 8 of 9. Thats, like, better than 50% right? Damn. Gotta put the carrots back in the fridge. I'm still learning myself. I'm interested to hear what the guys at camp have to say about him this weekend. I've seen his track in the sand too. I'd guess hes 350 or better.

Thank you. It's so thick here and the woods cover so much area, It's hard to imagine finding one any other way. We can hunt with dogs too but that doesn't interest me too much.
