  • Haah 2 virgins.

  • There are some important educational certifications around by Red Hat, I'm considering of taking 2 courses in the future, well while Red Hat has stopped the project and Fedora took over, they should use Fedora instead of Red Hat, and just rename the courses. These are something like RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) and RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer). These certifications are ala the Cisco's CCNA / CCNP...and they are hard ones to take (and I guess to pay) too. :)

  • The fag on the right needs to shut up so that the fag on the left can talk more. That way we can have 2 fags running in fucking stereo telling us how they loved the faggoty artwork in a release nobody gives a crap about. They're in separate rooms 'cause otherwise they'd be blowing each other.

  • the guy on the left wants to look important

  • but he failed. XD

  • yup, macs = pricey but worth it....:)

  • omgz you can change theme :D

  • Macs are expensive, I would go with a PC, more kick for your money.

  • dude on left reminds me of Matt Parkman

  • the guy on the left wont stop fucking moving.... OMFG O.O

  • At 1:52 the guys says "The thing I like about Fedora 10. It boots faster." Really? My experience is more reflective of Aviator14's: I was under the impression that Fedora 10 might stand for a 10 minute boot process.

Obviously, we're either doing something wrong, or it's all about processing power and RAM. If it's the latter, where the only machines it runs well on, are quad-core server machines, we might as well be running Vista.

  • but vista costs money, why spend money if you dont have to? fedora 10 runs great on my machine with 3.6 ghz processor and 1 gb of ram

  • Hey, do use Wireless Internet with Fedora 10? If so, is it easy to set it up? Is it hard to get your Wireless Adapter up and working?

  • FEDORA FEDORA FEDORA !! i was switched from ubuntu ...... fedora is more stable !!!!

  • I mean the guy on the left.. with the mustache.

    Hahaha

  • ejejeje :P

  • The guy on the right has an attention disorder.

He likes to control the speech.. he likes to talk only. And when talked to, he gets bored and wants to talk. He never stop before his friend interrupts him.

We should learn how to be good listeners.

  • he defiantly needs a shit

  • For some reason I still always say Fedora Core...

  • Esto apesta kiero a ver como funciona el S.o.

  • Wow who cares what it looks like? Get to the review fuck....

  • well good job... u spent 9 mins talking about the art. I still dont know wtf fedora does

  • Has anyone put this on a Compaq Armada M700?

  • Fedora is absolute JUNK. Ubuntu and other distros totally own it. When I booted Fedora it took 10 minutes to boot. Ubuntu only took 3 minutes. Also Fedora only has about half of the programs ubuntu does. Also Fedora crashes, when I tried to enable desktop effects Fedora went to a white screen and froze up.

  • Who cares about its artwork, themes and colours! LOL

  • This should be called the fidget show. lol

  • An OS is MUCH MUCH more than artwork.

  • That's probably the renowned P.E.B.K.A.C. error.

Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair.

  • haha, i like that one ;)

  • Que porra é essa??!!

  • it works much better than ubuntu on my laptop. I had a lot of problems with ubuntu.

  • awesome, guys, thanks for preview. 11 is coming out now, cant wait..

  • *installing

  • the worst to hang on istalling is kalyway's mac osx 10.5.2

  • OMFG is it slow to work. I have it installing now on my desktop, and it's hanging badly :-(

  • The bootloader isn't grub 2? It does look good. I agree that, on the art level, there are stuff that could be better, but that's one of the coolest tings in linux, you can change it. Don't like Gnome? Uninstall it, install other DE, or just use a different WM.

DVD releases might suck, but there are people that actually don't have a internet connection, have you ever think of that?

Thanks for the review, but all you talked about was graphical stuff and bugs.

  • Come one guys, if we don't issue bugs, who will? :)

  • Yes, yes, there are seeing it like me ?

the theme's are a no go for me, there look like

an old os that be in the bin with windows 2000

for a long, long, long time...

If you ask me about your cd's and dvd's.

there need's to be one, not 2 not 3 not 4,

but one 1, that one need to be a CD, not a DVD, why not DVD i hear you say, 1 day to download,

Then if users need more on there PC, there can just put there network cable in and download

    for a day or two...

    Signed Adam...

  • my problem is this after complete install and update, i reboot, upon reboot i get the the blue bar, but after that the screen goes blank..... for 2 hours and longer- indefinatley- its been on for 24 hours now, and still the same...... nvidia 9600gt video card..... any ideas why?

  • what are these two guys doing?

preview -- release -- in depth --- 10 -- impressive ehu ehu they are definetely fun to watch

  • Heyyyyy, Bert and Ernie.

  • wtf? I got the live CD but all I get are those 2 blue and white bars!!! Once the bars finish i get a blank screen and a cursor... anyone know what is going on here? seriously??? I have the live CD offered in the main "get fedora" page so am I supposed to get the 7 or 8 CDs from the "get-all" or what?

  • you have to wait like a minute or 2, i was freaking out at first but i went to make ramen and came back and it was done loading

  • I get some weird errors with sr0 (which i'm guessing is the non-existant floppy drive)

  • w00t! Just got it and installed it on my 4GB flash drive! This might replace my Ubuntu 8.10 ^_^

  • Test it a little, there are some differences among debians and redhat's.

By example the xorg.conf file is not located at the same place.

  • opensolaris is better!

  • ITS OUT!!!! YAY!

  • Argh 1 hour to go until release!

When I saw the 10a.m. release time, I was so excited - it was 11a.m. it get's released at

3.p.m. here (it will be 10a.m. in US whenit's 3p.m. here - I hate time zones sometimes!)

  • Seriously, move on from the themes. An OS can hardly be defined by it's themes. You call this an in depth look yet you barely got past how it looks. What about new features, what about improvements? At the end of the day I want an OS that runs well, doesn't crash and does everything I want it to do. If it can do that, I don't give a crap how it looks.

  • We spend time on the theme, because we have been so critical on Fedora themes in the past.

This is also not a full review, but a look at the preview release. A full review of F10 when it comes out will be done.

  • That's funny, cause the guy on the right first said Fedora 10 sucked but the things he said after were mostly positive... How about some consistency?

  • No kidding

  • i like the chubby guy on the left better, he's not as much of a ubuntu fanboy like the guy on the right, i mean common those are like the same freaking themes u see in ubuntu, if u really want a great looking theme, just download kde4 for god sake. and live cd because nowadays dvds and cd readers go like freaking 1000x on the cds, so it would load SOOO much faster on a cd while using live than a dvd. so wat get a good connection and leave ur comp on for like 20 min to download the updates sheesh

  • That's wrong. CD and DVD have a different reference data rate. CD reference data rate is 1.20 Mbit/sec, DVD reference data rate is 11.08 Mbit/sec. So a 16x DVD reader reads 177.28 Mbit/sec and a 52x CD reader only 62.49 Mbit/sec, which means the 16x DVD is almost three times as fast as the 52x CD.

  • oh wow, ty let me read all that again so i'll remember omg lol ty for fixing me, i thought dvds are just made so that it would be able to store more stuff... oh just on topic, is blueray read speed the same as dvd? i would most likely think not now that u've enlightened me, but i would like to know the speed. but dont they also have a dvd fedora? i downloaded fedora 8 some time ago and i had to put it on a dvd.

  • Looks good...but not good enough for me to switch from Ubuntu.

  • i am having so much trouble installing Ubuntu on VPC 2007. i am giving all the linux distros a chance but xandros is the only one that has worked so far for me :( i get the dreaded black screen to which there is no real fix yet. i havent tried it on a full desktop but i only have 1 so i dont want to spend time installing 2 OS's if one doesnt work.

  • What do you guys edit these things on? If it's a linux program I must have it XD!

Good review, makes me want to try Fedora finally.

  • yah me 2, the last ubuntu 8.10 didnt really work on my laptop, so this is the last shot D: hope it works on my wifi. oh any ideas where i can get ubuntu 8.04 the normal one? not the lts on, i went on ubuntu and they dont have it D: that's the only one that works on my laptop D:

  • I appreciate your commentary, but I would like to know more "in depth" about what it offers over Fedora 9, less about the artwork and GTK themes. Perhaps things like newer hardware support wireless cards, etc? I liked the boot speed commentary, but I suppose I'd like to hear more about what's "new" with it.

  • I agree, there wasn't much information on what's been changed in front-end or back-end but I'm going to install it over my Ubuntu, because like they said, Ubuntu has gotten slower.

  • Good stuff - I wasn't going to, but am downloading the preview live CD now(for a test install too).

I wasn't sure, but I think I am liking the new format - not so easy to listen all this video in the car? but hey I might get used to just consuming you guys in video only?

    Keep the content coming.

PS-how are you recording and editing the video content? Which apps and what devices? Laptop webcams, USB webcams, video cameras?

I have been playing around with all 3 and woudl like to hear your views.

  • YEAH! Bye bye Ubuntu! Fedora is seriously cutting edge. Just look at all the great things that come out of Fedora all the time! I agree about the Metacity theme though.

Also, if you use Fedora for a couple of weeks, you really noticed the speed improvement over Ubuntu. Ubuntu is getting slower, let's face it. Now, Fedora isn't a replacement for Ubuntu, since it is cutting edge, and Ubuntu has become somewhat of a safe option. For the final release, talk a bit about Packagekit, please! :)

  • It looks like "Blubuntu".
