  • Although the best Russian players were missing from this Tourney, their Top Core Mikhailov,Petrov,Kharlamov, and the other did play these Czechs in the 1977 World Championship in Prague and still lost against them. This was about the best Czech National Team put together ever along with their 1998 Olympic Gold Medal winning Team.

  • beautiful goal darryl! Still is.

  • Orr. Perreault. Potvin. Sittler. McDonald. Martin. Dionne. Vachon. Savard. Robinson. Etc. Etc. My God! The memories! Absolutely the best there was and the best there ever will be!

  • Oh come on. Overtime and at home. I do agree these were a fantastic bunch of players. I wouldn't say they were the best ever if I'm being honest. These were the players of my childhood. Good memories.

  • can that goalie be any more retarded

  • That's like a Gretzky goal.

  • dzurilla sucked

he came out like infinite fucking bajillion feet out of his net on a constant basis

    worst goalie ive ever seen

  • scottwill19 si debil hovado skurvené

  • @yaro22st Souhlasim....von je debil ale vetsina lide tady jsou mlady a hloupy....Greetings from a Canadian living n Prague for 16 years...

  • @scottwill19 Did you actually watch the series...Dzurilla played a great tourney, I was at both final games...Dzurilla wasnt even supposed to be playing...he was a last minute replacement. Back then Czechoslovak players had full time day jobs and didnt earn hardly a Koruna from playing hockey. Dzurilla was a refrigerator repair man in real life. The CSSR teams werent like the Soviets with fulltime players and coaches...thats what makes his and his teams performance even greater Ty Vole!!...

  • i know all this crap u just told me im not an idiot, i know that refridgerator thing, the last minute replacement, so stfu

dzurilla was terrible, who in the right fucking mind would come out of his net that far, in OT, facing defeat, and against fucking SITTLER...yea sittler!....and expect to make a save....its bcuz he was a fucking retard....and btw, when u lose game 1 by a score of 6-0, ur not good at all, so he sucks dick

  • Nobody was calling you an idiot...however...the manner by which you express yourself, your primitive bouts of anger over nothing, your bizarre caustic vitriol towards someone who played his heart out doing what he loved to do...your cowardly abuse of someone from behind your computer screen suggests no shortage of character flaws on your part...but nobody called you an idiot.

  • @ldhorricks Well said....

  • This team is the best ever iced in my opinion. Even better than the 1987 Canada Cup team (with Mario and Wayne). Don't believe me? There is a new book out called "Let's Talk Hockey: 50 Wonderful debates" from amazon that talks about the greatest international teams to a great extent. 1976 is #1. And why not? Look at that lineup. Sittler, Lafleur, Clarke, Perreault, Barber, Leach, Dionne, McDonald, Hull, Esposito, Orr, Potvin, Robinson, Savard, Cheevers, Vachon. Wow, just wow

  • i agree .. however, as those who where born in the 70s, we can't relate to this team. We can relate to 87 team. However, I do agree with you as the 76 team was the best - the sheer # of hall of famers on that team.

  • I agree 100% bigphil339.....except....you should have mentioned Bobby Orr first!! Just kidding, but yes this is the greatest team ever!!

  • That was one night that Montreal loved Darryl Sittler!

Best Maple Leaf of all time in my opinion.

  • lol....gordon77777, Sittler, Salming, Turnbull....the cocaine kids.......

  • I feel that Daryl Sittler was the greatest Toronto Maple Leaf ever

  • 1976 was definitely the Year of Darryl Sittler! Look at these moments in 12 mths.

-10 point night vs Boston (6g-4a-10pts)

-5 goals vs the Flyers in the NHL playoffs

-100 pt season during the regualr season

-scores the winning goal during the 1976 Canada Cup.

    WOW!

  • And yet, Toronto couldn't win the Stanley Cup if their lives depended on it! lol....

I got to go to one of the practices at the Montreal Forum for this season. Not as good as a game, but I still got to see the Canadian players in all their glory.

  • great goal

  • Wow 33 years ago already, time keeps on ticking......

  • Canada Cups were all Classic's...

  • I remeber that goal like it was yesterday.

  • CSSR had a good team at those times, we were World Champions in years 1972,76,77, in Insbruck 1976 half of CSSR team got flu so they did not manage more than olympic silver and we also won 1st match against this Canadian team.

RIP Vladimir Dzurilla, we will never forget...

  • yeah but you were all pros disguised as amateurs

  • You do not know much about hockey in CSSR in 1970-ties, do you? These guys all had jobs and got just ridiculous money for playing hockey after shifts at work...Orr alone had a few times higher monthly salary than all CSSR players together anually...that's fact...situation with CSKA in USSR was much different, they were army employees and just played hockey, they could be considered profesionals.

  • Prestne Tak Michale....Playing for the Soviet National Team was tantamount to be professional...they didnt work a day at anything else...they practiced and played hundreds of games together all year...The Czech teams always did remarkably well for the difficulties the National team had...thats why in the 60's and 70's Canadians always cheered for the Czechs against the Soviets...also because of what happened in 1968...I wish Czechs didnt hate Canadian Hockey so much now...its really sad.

  • Sorry I should have written Ceskoslovakian Teams...as it was Ceskoslovakia then...and yes Dzurilla was Slovak

  • Dzurilla made his living as a electrical appliance repairman...all these players has regular day jobs to go to...they were not like the Soviets at all

  • Dzurilla great keeper

  • sad I didnt know Dzurilla died...he was just normal guy who loved to play the game...and real gentleman

  • How come the Montreal Forum had advertisements on the boards back then for international tournaments, but not the NHL games?

  • the NHL didn't permit advertising on boards then, but the NHL wasn't in charge of this tournament.

  • Come back Darryl, we need you. LOL. OMG, that's Trudeau.

  • not entirely sure why the goalie came like a half mile out

  • to cut down the angle...when you do this you are hoping your defence will help

  • lovely goal...the loudest cheer you will ever hear for a Toronto Maple Leaf in Montreal

  • When you put on a Team Canada Jeresy, it doesn't matter where in Canada you are from.

They might hate a blue maple leaf, but they sure love the red one.

  • The right defenceman on the Czech team screwed up by playing the puck.

  • Sittler....my idol...10 points in one game...nobody has done that...except him...and to play for ballard....sheesh...makes him a hero...great guy...and a Christian I am told...good for you Darryl...may god bless...

  • as a leaf fan im so proud sittler scored that goal from macdonald....who was that weirdo standing beside trudeau?

  • Gay for sure.

  • don't expect class from the russkies, folks; there are plenty of reasons why the slimy, lying bastards are despised the world over

  • I almost threw up when Trudeau was flashed on screen.

    What a goal!

  • great game

  • Some russian has been will come on here saying they are the greatest Dynasty ever and this was a fluke! ahahah poor loosers....

  • That 76 Team Canada team was the greatest hockey team ever.

  • Yes, indeed: Don Cherry advised the team that Dzurilla could be fooled by a fake shot--and he was. Don is a smart man.

  • what cherry said was, the czech goalie committed too soon to coming out and therefore a fke shot would be too much for him to handle

  • It was not Czech goalie, this guy was from Slovakia, his name is Vladimir Dzurilla, in the first match he shot out team of Canada with all the stars like Orr, Esposito, Hull, Sittler, Dionne, Potvin, Lafleur, Savard, Clarke.... This was a mistake, but in Slovakia, Dzurilla was chosen the best player of the century, ahead of Peter Stastny(who is on this footage as well, nobody knew in 1976, he will became a legend with Nordigues), Golonka, Bondra...
