shame she didnt fall off in the event final, maybe then shed have placed last and saved other gymnasts being knocked out of medal contention by someone too young to compete!! @cindyzhoucc im british, not american, and weve never cheated in gymnastics, we compete fairly, with outstanding gymnasts, one who i believe just won the world championship on this apparatus over he kexin, who i guess is old enough to compete by now. If you want to speak to me in chinese then do so, i dont care for the language anyway. chinese gymnasts do indeed have beautiful gymnastics, but many before he have been caught competing underage. once a cheater, always a cheater, and its unfair.

im not jealous just angers me when things like this come up in a sport. and somebody like kexin (who undoubtedly is a good gymnast, as i said in my first comment) is thrown into controversy over her age... i do believe considering china's track record in history, politics, their attitude towards national sports and the way they instigate training their athletes strongly suggest that they are not averse to cheating. just saying.

But once the Olympics rolled around and the Chinese knew THEY would be hosting the Olympics and that He was one of the bar workers from that country, all of a sudden her age went from 13 to 16 in just over 11 months time. awws, shes so courageous to keep going! just shows how much determination she has, though she should learn from her dear friend cheng fei, i remember in the team finals, cheng fell off the beam, yet she pulled it off and didnt let it affect her and she performed the rest of her routine beautifully, however for kexin its obvious the fall took over her because the rest of the routine was underdone due to the fact she let her emotions take over her, however i still love her GOOD ON U KEXIN !

Kudos to her for performing three Jaegers in her uneven bars routine. But it seems like she tends to go out of line in the second one right after the Li Ya? You can't really see it from this angle but when Li Ya did a regular straddled Jaeger, she still was able to maintain a straight swing.

well, have to be more positive, there's a good thing in this fall, it's really lucky for her to fall in qualifications, but not on finals, or even team finals. so just let's all be a bit more positive abt her fall!

@SingingWonderDream no it would not have been perfect. her second jeager was caught too low below the bar. her pak salto had a leg separation, she had dead hangs from her shoot to high bar, and short of handstands after finishing her pirouettes. people need to get over the 'shock and awe' of her dazzling tricks (which i persinally love) and focus ) on the quality of her work befor =e they say something looks "perfect". the more difficult stuff you do in a routine creates more room for error

@benrobinson77 ok no it was not low! it just seemed low because her first jager reverse was incredibly high, but the 2nd jager was well above the bar, and she had leg seperation in the pak salto becuase she was about to fall, i mean did you watch the hole video? she finished all her piroutettes in perfect handstands as well, and they dont take off for the dead hang because she kept the momentum! and if she would of stuck the dismount in finals this routine would of been perfect

perfect routines are hard to come by and this is not one of them, SORRY! the only perfect routine that has happened since nadia comanechi has been Lu Li in 1992 even finals.

i didnt say it was perfect i said tht if she didnt fall it would be NEAR perfect. and i dont even really like this gymnast at all. first time i have watched her. and besides lu li check this out : Shannon miller 1994 worlds EF balacne beam. now THAT is a perfect routine. so u cant talk to me because i understand gymnastics.

So much expectations and hopes on such tiny shoulders-she's a courageous girl and I like how He kept it together after the mistake. I'm half and half about falls-yes it's not very kosher to make it to finals with falls-but I sure wish it were possible for athletes like Kui Yuan Yuan to have made it to beam finals back in 1996 over gymnasts with safer, mediocre routines (in comparison).

this is the kind of shit that drives me nuts with the start values on bars! in the old system, a fall cost you a spot in the evnt finals! in this system, a fall gives you a bruising but if your start value is like 9.8, you're totally fine!!! ridiculous! but still, she does tremednous skills!!! excellent work besides the fall!!!!

Nastia has two giants and only two release moves ono +healy +gienger +tcachev.

that means D+D+E+E.

He Kexin has li ya release + jaeger +tcachev + stretched jaeger which means E/D (?)+D+D+D/E (?)

I don't remember whether the li ya and the stretched jaeger are D or E.

isn't it pretty much the same thing?

li shanshan can, she competes on all the events, however she is not that great on vault and bars. He Kexin is training to be an all arounder as we speak!!

I remember watching this and I felt just sick to my stomache when He (and Nastia as well) messed up on bars in prelims. I was so afraid two of the best (and my two fave) bars workers in the world would not make bars finals. It would have nearly spoiled my Olympics because the He/Nastia matchup on bars was what I was most looking forward too-even more so than the AA. Neither young lady disappointed in finals!

yeah it still is allowed. Deng Linlin's coach used to do that when she was a junior to help her with her routine.

i was in america when this was on and im from england, i thought it was really boring how they only showed the american and chinese gymnasts, even when the american gymnasts were doing nothing, we had to watch them doing nothing, just sitting around putting tape on their hands when we could have been watching other things haha!

I think it was even worse coverage in 1996-as comic Tracy Ulmann said on the Tonight show at that time - the camera was on Kerri Strug as she wrapped a bandage around her wrist 40 times-and all the while the Romanians were on balance beam. Very disrespectful, biased coverage. I cringe at the memory. It truly was disgustingly one-sided.
