funny how the song talks about grounding your ego, yet so many people on here are so busy trying to elevate their own in justifying their superior musical knowledge
cool instrumental xD I'm looking for a track by "The Nomad" from Loop Select 03.. impossible to find or download.. can anybody email it to me or point me in the right direction? mail me on youtube and ill send you my email . thankx.
Inhale again...BONGMASTER was formed towards the end of 97. Bongmaster jam 'sessions' and gigs happened pretty much every week for the following 3 - 4 years. They recorded every jam and performance on either Cass, Video, DAT or 8 tk reel to reel. The various members went on to create WAI / WETA / EBB / DALLAS / FFD and TRINITY ROOTS to name a few. There is 3 years of Bongmaster recordings floating around somewhere in Wellington. "Let yo feet walk mama let yo feet walk!"
Inhale deeply....aahhh... BONGMASTER was.... Maaka Mc gregor / drums, Aaron Tokona / electric guitar, Iain Gordon/ synth bass, Dallas Tamaira vocals and acoustic gat, Andreas Leper / percussion, Chris Faiumu / MPC and Elton on sax who was replaced by Warren Maxwell. This track was recorded at China town studios c/o Dental records in Haining street , Wellington city with the technical and production expertise of ANTSMIFF flying protools.
Yes. I think it matters what it is called. 'Ground' & 'Drown' are two very different words. I prefer to respect the artists choice.
Tip Of The Day: Know what you are talking about before you talk. It helps to avoid ignorance amongst other things.
Go to Discogs & search 'Loop Select 003' have a look @ track 11 by Bongmaster. It features Dallas Tamaira / Jo Dukie - The lead singer from Fat Freddy's. Feel free to educate yourself on things you like. It makes the world a better place.
@Milld0g Chill the fuck out, u are obviously not embracing the music if you are gonna be such a douche about this guy making a mistake whilst uploading. Have a spliff a calm the fuck down!
egg...know your stuff before you rant your gobshite...this is NOT 'FFD'...its the band that morphed into 'FFD' in Wellington sometime around 1996...I was there, played with the guitarist who wrote this track (Aaron Tokona) and the keyboard player (iain Gordon). 'Ground my Ego'...??? haha...ground yours.
Milld0g is correct, this is Bongmaster's Ground My Ego from Loop Select 003: Sounds from Aotearoa.
Sorry for not correcting sooner, but I needed to confirm with my own record library first before changing anything here, and I only just re-found Loop Select 003. It's corrected now and hopefully other people will be convinced now also.
I always thought it was drown my ego. But it does sound like ground...i reckon 'drown my ego' would have been a better lyric. Oh well always an AMAZING track!
Check out Shapeshifters album Soulstice (great NZ style drum'n'bass/soul), Sola Rosa (hip-hoppy nz soul/dub), Fly Pretties (with Barnaby and Mike Fabulous from Black Seeds'), Tiki (pure NZ sound) and his old band Salmonella Dub (nz dub pioneers). That should be a good start :)
soooo0 nice to hear sucha pure sound from back home!! given me full goosebumps cuz!...MattC, representing all things NZ, here on the Sunshine Coast. Queensland...
This track is called Ground my Ego by Bongmaster. Mu and Dallas are from Fat Freddies and they were also part of Bongmaster a few years back. Just thought I'd clarify that. It is still a dope track for sure. It's availible on Loop Select 003 Compilation from Loop Recordings
"Ground My Ego"? I always thought it was "Drown..." cos that's how it was listed on limewire ages ago...but listening to it now I think you're right! :P
Thankyou Leon for introducing me to these guys back in 2003.I hope your well in Christchurch and you family as love shine down everyday on them,Peace your brother Tim in Brighton uk xxx.
