I know I'm coming to this review a bit late, but I've been wanting "Secrets of Los Angeles" ever since I learned Chaosium was publishing it.
However, I've read at least one review that suggested it wasn't really very solid as a sourcebook for L.A. of the era (if, for example, you wanted to run that 1920s Angel game), leaning much more heavily on talking about Mythos elements. Is there any truth to that? Would it be a useful source for a non-CoC game set in 1920s L.A.?
With the Movie Cloverfield comming out , I suspect a Cthulu inspired flic will create intrest with these games..beyond the traditional Hp lovecraft/ gamming fans.
I have been to Kenya. Its cool you cover that book considering the chaos that recently happened there, lately, over the elections. It seems like all of the books other than Kenya are about a city, where that one is about a country.
I would like to thank Mr. Wiegel for his videos. After watching his reviews for the books puplished by Chaoium INC, I have purchased the Call of Cthulhu core book and the Secrets of San Francisco sourcebook. I can not recommend these items enough.
I'm not too familiar with the CoC line, but one thing I gotta admit: from where I stand, those sourcebooks look thicker than lots of main books, which in itself says a lot about the work put into it and the massive punch regarding content...
very nice

Considering what's going on in Kenya these days, I think a cultist running down the street at you with a knife would probably get away with it too.

Heh... I live in a small 2-bedroom house on a quiet, tree-lined street (a mere 5 minutes away from Warner Bros., Disney and Universal Studios).
