That bastard motherfucker Ron Kershaw messed her up good. He beat her to a bloody pulp and got her hooked on cocaine. Hope you're rotting in hell, Kershaw.
I remember Jessica on the air when I was young. For those who speak negatively, I disagree. She opened a door for many women to pursue journalism. Often women are considered a B*#ch for expressing & expecting others to take responsibility for their job expectations. Looking forward to reading Golden girl. I recommend to all to watch LMN Almost Golden. Fantastic and I believe it could possibly give some a new take on her. Good day!
@wannawatchu66 - no offence intended, I was merely observing something in the name that fit the character of her persona, or that which her detractors created for her.
@AdArmand Thanks for the clarification, and I would agree; it's hard to tell where that portrayal of her came from. If she was a perfectionist professionally, I don't see that as bad--you don't see slackers on network TV. What some call "perfectionistic," others call "having high standards." There's that "Angry Anchor" video here where she finally boils over after having to go week after week without a stage mgr. I would've reacted the same way. Thanks again for your response. Take care.
@pernelldh His crazy guests don't need a host. A lot of them are so crazy that they don't need a talk show host. I.E. The guy who was afraid of oranges. LOL
Maury's the polish Geraldo. Trashy, journalistic cliche. Thank god most of these idiots have been bought up by cable, money whores. It's shows like this which gives journalism a bad name.
I'm pretty sure she was my first tv newscaster crush. Such beauty and grace and delivered a story with just the right amount of sincerity and gravity. No one has reached her combination of strengths and talent.
Jessica - a name to remember for all the people who were there to catch this fascinating personality on the news in those days. Grace, class, and so much more.
Diane Sawyer comes pretty close, but it's a different class. Jessica - always remember your name. Rest in peace. You have been loved by so many people.
There is a "newer" book about Jessica by Alanna Nash the family cooperated with. Jessica was a troubled woman very ahead of her time. She struggled with her mother's mindset, struggled to escape her background and pushed hard to get into the upper echelon of of broadcasting. Unfortunately, once she reached the top it was an awful slide downhill. She did not have the coping mechanism of Ellerbee, Woodruff or Andrea Mitchell, her contemporaries.
She WAS very special, and she absolutely broke ground for women on television. Savitch was far more intelligent and gifted than Barbara Walters, and her death was a terrible tragedy. Young people have no idea of the impact she had on television news broadcasting.
Its so nice to see things finally on youtube about Jessica she was before my time but I have come to know her through reading and through family who were fans she really opened a lot of doors for women and for that I say may she REST IN PEACE!
@phillyvideofan I never knew about Maury Povich being on A current Affair but I knew that there was A current Affair though How I heard of him was a talk show that still comes on to this day.

Interesting that the name Savitch is like a combination of the words 'savage' and 'bitch'.
AdArmand 7 months ago
@AdArmand So her mother Florence is a "savage" "bitch" too? It's your prerogative to hate Jessica if you want, but that comment was uncalled for.

I remember when A Current Affair was the only reality tv show aside from people court. Now Povich has gone tabloid, shame
Anglynn74 10 months ago
She liked getting it on with other women.
That's what I remember.

The reason why the viewers never saw this side of Jessica was that it is highly questionable that it was true.
