This is propaganda. RFID tags will most likely be misused. Technology advances on human endeavor alone, we do not need giant multinationals handling our security. I would love to use RFID technology if I could trust those behind it, and a pretty storybook is not going to earn my trust. It's not paranoia, it's fact: look at how coporate and multinational entities already use surveilance technology. It's frightening.

Some nice thoughts, but still, we live in a sensitive age, and we have to be very careful about implementing technology into the society. For there are countless ways of possible abuse of such systems. There are evidence of IMB technology used to systematically identify and help select victims of Nazi death camps in WWII. We must not forget this.

I'll send you a link to a short essay I wrote a few days ago at thinkfinity (a social networking site for teachers) that explains what I think we need to do to address these issues. Perhaps its not that different from what you consider necessary.
