Actually, type ONE diabetes is not very well known about. Most of the stories on the news, newspaper articles and media coverage is on type two diabetes. Of all of the people with either type of diabetes, type ones only make up about 10%. I have type one and you wouldn't believe how many people think it can be reversed through diet and exercise. Type one can NEVER be reversed. There are so many misconceptions about the disease...I'm glad he was able to raise awareness about it.

actually yeah. i like that he did this. i have type 1 diabetes too. and it was nice to see him tell people he is diabetic. its hard to tell anyone whos not in your family. it was hard to tell my best friends. and some people who were my friends stopped talking to me cuz they were afraid. so you have no right to say its not a big deal. and for all the kids and teens especially girls that like the jonas bros, him letting the world know was amazing for them to know their idol also has it.

My daughter is 7 and she has had diabetes since she was 4. She flipped out when she heard that Nick had diabetes also. It is great that he told everyone. I think it teaches kids not to hide behind it... great job

Type 1 diabetes is one you are born with and diagnosed in children, Type 2 is generally related to diet or other health conditions. In Type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. In Type 2, either the body does not produce insulin, or the body is ignoring it. Either way, it is extremely serious, but can be treated.

you are not born with type 1 diabetes(It may be possible but I have never heard of it) My daughter is Type1. She developed it at 18 months. If Nick Jonas had it when he was born but did not know it until May of 2005 he would be dead by now.

It's called OmniPod - it'd a small device that sticks to his body with an adhesive - no wires or tubing. The device hold enough insulin for about three days which enters his body through a tony cannula (like a flexible needle under the skin).
