  • @justsoundz How do i take the air sound out of my vocal's and the air sound out of the instrumental that i dragged into garage band 09 and the air sound out of the beat that i created on garage band 09 and how do i bounce my session to my flashdrive with all my track's turned up as loud as possible without clipping so i could get that professional sound that i'm looking for. Please be specific when you explain this to me thank u

  • @rveezee1 Use a PC, better mic, quiet room, better audio card. "Loud as possible" isn't professional sound, it's over-compressed mainstream pop/emo shit/youtube sound.

  • @clance13 i have a macbook pro 13 to and they only have one jack but that is both a audio in and out so you can plug a microphone into the one jack.

  • Garageband ROCKS! I record all of my music with it - see my profile for examples! I record mostly Pop Rock. Nice work!

  • Great video, man. Im a flstudio/ sony acid guy myself and am considering buying a mbp. I was curious what I got with garageband, and your demo was awesome. Thanks again.

  • wow, thanks! now i can have a start to make some music for my vids :)

  • im getting more and more excited to get my macbook pro!!

  • so u have to buy garageband? '.'

  • @rockergirlabl It's in the iLife suite. $79 for one license or five licenses are $99. Otherwise you have just bought a new mac, you have this and three other programmes (iLife, iDVD, iWeb) for "free".

  • how do u make vidoes like this

  • @bumblebee123410

I think he's using Screenflow 2.0. It's $99 and you can do zooms, add those spotlight call ups with our without zooming just the part you're spotlighting and add simple text boxes.

Camtasia for Mac is now out and it does better call outs but Screenflow is easier and better in some ways. $99 but probably will go up later

The keystrokes that pop up might be MousePose from Kagi software - that one is about $19 now.

  • liked it!

  • I need a macbook.

  • can you connect your owns instruments to the mac and record a song ??? i mean no with the software instruments but real instruments... sorry for my english, hope you can understand me

  • how does he zoom in with his cursor?

  • Hey, I can't see the whole bottom bar on my garageband including the record button etc. How can I make it reappear? It means that at the moment I can't record or anything. Help would be much appreciated.

  • Do you see? This is why a Mac is better than PCs!

  • thank you!

  • i'm getting a macbookpro so i can do recordings. really helpful video. thanks

how do you record with real instruments?

  • Thanks alot!!!

  • you mess up on a bunch of shortcuts. for muting an instrument, you just click the little mute button next to it because you can't always select the volume.

  • What editing program is used for editing?

  • how do you make the track longer?? cus mine only goes up to like 1:30 sec

  • I love garageband

  • You Are So Helpful thanks Man 5/5 ^^

  • You sir, are a true musician.

  • 5 star and subbed ^^ (nor for contest, but bcuz im no selfish idiot who could care less bout evry1 else) good vid. it rlly helps ^^

  • Best interface for Garageband: Apogee One. Simple and amazing sound. Why didn't you show with a USB keyboard. Plus dude, you can't even play piano.

  • just cuz your a idiot doesn't mean that pc's are better that mac, macs come with a bunch of free cool software and works nicer than windows

  • COOL !!!!

  • How do i record Guitar?

  • haha good vid.. i like ur voice lol.

  • I love GarageBand. I mean, it's free and i doubt Microsoft has anything like it for Windows... Microsoft got sound recorder :)

  • Windows has Vocaloid, Audacity and MANY other music editing / creating software. NEVER underestimate Windows.

  • @SahLehron: And they all come nicely bundeled up with Windows!... not.

Windows 7 doesn't even come with Mail application by default, you have to download it as a part of Live! package from the internet.

Lets see, what does Windows 7 come with?:

    - calculator

    - notepad

    - paint

    - IE (that should be in a section what Windows should come WITHOUT)

I used to be a Windows fan (since 95) and just a year ago realized that Windows is getting worse with every release. So I switched to Mac.

  • The point is that when you bring a brand new computer home, you want to start using it right away. My friend asked me to setup his brand new (in the box) Acer laptop. It took 4 hours of "please wait, software is being installed..." before i could get to using the computer.

Not to mention that a brand new Windows computer has pretty much nothing (except for some demo software, that nobody wants).

Mac comes with everything you'd need and takes 1 min to setup after the first boot.

  • Thats all true but you theres something that Windows has and Mac will never have, and that's enjoyability, COMPARABILITY WITH SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE and overall expandability. The point of Windows isn't "Everythings Standard" or It works first time, Windows Learns! You tell it about you and It adabpts to you. Its reliable, yes people can point out Windows has bugs BUT WHAT OS DOESN'T!! MAC OSX IS NOT PERFECT EITHER!!!

  • @SahLehron

Hardware Compatibility: When it comes to plug-and-play devices, MAC beats Windows hands down. I never had any issues with drivers for Mac when it came to network printers, cameras, external HDs, input devices, etc. With Windows however - it's always been a painful process.

    Software:

I have WINE for Mac and I run Windows apps natively. You can get Parallels, VMware or BootCamp (free). Mac can run OS X, Unix, Windows apps with minor tweaks. Windows doesn't even run Win apps properly.

  • Hardware on Windows is great, you must be using a crappy pc with Windows on it.

Having Windows software on a Mac only proves how Mac sucks, if you end up using Windows software on a Mac, you can't say anything bad about Windows.

Oh and by the way, if Mac is so great, WHY do Windows product sales exceed Mac ones by thousands? Answer that!

  • 1) My PC was top of the line (I built it myself). Just the harware parts cost over $1800.

    2) I have the ability to run Win software, but I have all the software I need for Mac (Adobe, Office, Sound/Video editing etc). And these apps are better than Win versions

    3) Why don't you Google "history of MS VS Apple" and you'll see. Back in the 80s brutal marketing from MS won over Apple's quality. In regards to revenue, Apple now is in the lead. Read the stats. See the share prices. Do some analysis.

  • *sigh* I have no time to debate this now, trust me I know what I know and what I know is about as much as a university graduate doing a high grade course in computer technology.

I'm finished with you, this whole argument is just making me laugh.

  • @SahLehron

Ok. I think this convo is pretty pointless.

Just to let you know, I run an IT business of my own (google for Xi Digital Media) for the past 4 years and have been working in IT industry (programming, design and server maintenance) for the past 11 years.

And I also know enough about operating systems, software, compatibility, servers and hardware. And being an ultimate Windows power user in the past, I say that Mac is superior. Shame that i found it out only a year ago.

  • @SahLehron haha how does an inanimate object adapt it is not living. dummy. MAC will always be an innovator although usually over priced. Lets just say "You get what you pay for"

  • @HZRDAZ The same way I made a living response program in C++ ... Just because its inanimate doesn't mean it can't adapt, what about Kevlar fabrics hmm, they adapt when a bullet hits it (the harden and attepmt to re-bound the inpact).

  • @HZRDAZ absolutly!

  • wow great help.

    great video

  • Pretty good overview. Wish it would have been an little more in depth for us more epxperienced users, but overall pretty good.

  • idiot... Built in software much?

  • logic studio is wayy better...although its $799

  • i would only get a mac for this lol

  • @jdogg0908 agreed

  • I am getting a mac for the software, I makes crap things great :D

  • that's funny :p

but if you do want to get serious with music making, you will have to step over to another program, because garageband is quite limited...

    doesn't have a mixer, no vst's etc.

  • @jdogg0908 some people do so they wouldnt need to buy pro tools

  • @jdogg0908 me 2 man........THIS IS AWASOME!

  • @jdogg0908 me too, i went to faithless in rotterdam ahoy yesterday, and before they came up some locals played their music which they created with this program, pretty nice:P

  • very nice video

  • Thanks for showing what the bought lessons for Garageband look like. :)

I might end up buying some of those lessons once I get my mac...

  • the new macbooks yeah

  • tight ass pants loooool

  • nice video. forget what the haters say :-)

  • thanks man good stuff!

  • How did you make that tutorial movie? LIke, adding picture in picture..

  • kinda free. thats why the new macs are so expensive

  • You've made one of the fastest, easiest to follow videos I've seen out there on GB. I wish I would have seen this video long ago....would have saved me some frustration! Thanx man.

  • Haha ! Love how you put in wich jeys you are pressing when playing random on the keyboard ^^

  • he said it come with ever macbook FREE*

  • @illTech20 Bargain! :)

  • Comment removed

  • what recording program are you using? :)

thank you for the fantastic video.

  • for what? video?

  • yes.

  • Does anybody know if I could create a ringtone for my lg xenon on my macbook? Please and thank you.

  • My garageband is off, it is not on my dock. How can I restore it back, any help please, thank you in advance!!!

  • Okay go to finder and type in garageband then find Garageband then drag it back to your dock.

  • Thanks but, it is showing click relaunch to launch the application again.

  • Reinstall the iLife disk I would think.

  • All right, thank you.

  • Nice, but the sounds are a bit cheap, and controls aren't very professional, which is why I use various products in win 7. I mean, garage band is a cute program, but it's limited. It's sort of a nice, "Hi I'm a youtuber, let me add an elephant sound here with a cheap violin" little program. But it's hard to get intricate. I have an i7 based pc at 3.8ghz and it will render video and run studio plugins at twice the rate of a typical c2d $1600 imac. So I'm happy, and it only cost $830.

  • I'm pleased that you're happy, but I have to say Garageband is a lot more than that. I mainly use Logic Pro - have been using it since 2003, but occasionally I use Garageband if I don't need to group in busses or use a mixer window. I honestly think Garageband has developed a long way since it first came out.

  • i will post my cd! did a cover of mariah carey make it happen and more original songs i've writtnen!

  • hmm i tried recording this with my guitar but it just turns out fuzzy in garage band??? what settings do i need

  • yew, you are such a good presenter!

  • Thanks for the advice...I'm new to Garageband and already made two tunes since yesterday!

    I love this program!

  • great

  • Hey man! Good video! You explain things very well. I laughed out loud when you mentioned Sting walking in in his "tight ass pants"! Haha! Classic stuff!

  • Garage Band Rocks!

  • hopw much is ittt(:?

  • basic mac is £799

  • what screen recorder do you use brO plz?

  • yeah i'd like to know as well.

  • screenflow 2.0 now, back then it was screenflow 1.5.1. it costs $99 though.

  • It Just Works!!

  • Brilliant instruction mate, looking forward to getting stuck in now!
