  • love the costume

  • @SpiderCostumes Thanks! That's a compliment coming from a channel that is all about, well, spider costumes!

  • what will this year's halloween be like, for nina?:)

  • @meZATY ha ha Last year's spider uniform would be a hard act to follow. We don't have any plans yet, but if some of Nina's friends decide to have a Halloween party, we will try to get something together. Nina says she wants to be a princess.

  • thats a beautiful and cute picture of Nina at the end of the vid :)

  • Nina's videos are soo addictive and I have only 3 days to finish my Master's thesis. Good luck to myself! ;)

  • @itsonlynaughty No more Nina videos until you've finished your thesis!! Ganbare!

  • @geofg Thesis's done so I continue on watching! :)

  • @itsonlynaughty Congratulations!!

  • I wanted to be Nina ): I want my pastttttt

  • how you get the costume? homemade or rent? it's beautiful...

  • @alen921006 Thanks! My wife made the costume.

  • i just adore this! i really can watch your videos non-stop :)

  • `this is why i love trick or treating in Japan~ [everyone gives something..and what more, there's a costume contest with good prizes~]

  • @bloodxsakura Well, this was a special activity organized by the merchants in that shopping area. Most neighborhoods in Japan don't really do anything special for Halloween.

  • i felt bad for the one who got 2 points....

  • @1bugleboi1 Don't worry, those weren't points. They were just the entry numbers for the contestants.

  • Nina's name is not only spelled with Katakana, is it? Is Nina's name also spelled with Kanji, too?~

I really love her costume! Trick or Treating looks much more fun in Japan~ :D

  • I think Nina should have one first place. Her costume was so awesome!

  • @RachelRocker4Ever Thanks! Mama gets all the credit for her costume.

  • i wanna move to Japan! This looks so Fun!! Ninas costume was so clever!

  • @ohnousernameavailabl Thank you! The costume was her mother's idea.

  • @geofg she should be a costume designer =0

  • thats a very cool costume, kawaii Nina ^^

  • @qendu Thanks! Nina's mother made everything for the costume.

  • the grasshopper looks really dead with the (X_X) face :D

  • congratulations to Nina (and a smart , resourceful mama who created the costume!) Looks like such fun!

  • She is very cute

  • :D Wow! Using an umbrella was a really good idea!!

  • @midori1 Thanks! That was her mother's idea.

  • This is great. Congratulations on second place. I like how they said Trick or treat in Japanese. LOL. We have a lot of trick or treaters around the Roppongi area and a parade in Omotesando.

  • LOL, what was that she was doing? 超ウケる。 ^_^

I can't believe they translated "Trick or Treat". It sounds ちょっとやんちゃ。

  • @yuichituba The Japanese version is too long. I think they should just say trick or treat in English.

  • I became so nostalgic after watching this--my little sister went as a spider one year, may a year or two older than Nina was. She had a bell shape spider costume too--her spidy arms moved w/ her too, except my sister's costume was more fluffy so every move she made was soo..soo..wide and fluffy. lol Thanks for this vid. CONGRATS TO NINA--and her mama for making such a cute costume.

  • @JJNeepinFilms It sounds cute! Did you take pictures of your sister in her spider costume?

  • Nina is getting so tall!!

  • In the costume contest, i would've won >:D

  • 1- she's soooo adorable! okaasan did a great job with the costume! creative ne!

2- I know you're translating "okashi wo kurenai to itazura suruzo" to trick or treat... but I'm curious. If it's not so much trouble, could you please give me the LITERAL TRANSLATION of that sentence... like,, word by word... I'm so sorry to bother you m(_ _)'m

3- YAY! omedetou gozaimasu on winning ninachan!... you were a big spider! kowai!.. if you ran after me I WOULD FREAK OUT!

    4- what did she win?

  • @SmilingMaram Thanks! Mama went crazy on her costume this year.

Okashi is "snacks", kureru is "to give" and itazura suru is "make mischief" so it is literally something like, "If you don't give us snacks, we will make mischief."

She won some fancy snacks and a gift certificate for a free lunch.

  • expression at 1.56 is priceless. what was in the prize anyway? =)

  • @revorichie Some fancy snacks and a gift certificate for lunch at a fancy restaurant.

  • kawaii ^__^

  • Nina rocking out the Spider outfit ^_^ So Kawaii.

  • Her face was priceless! Oh, seeing moments like those make me glad that video cameras were invented. ♥ She is adorable, as always. :D That costume was awesome too! It was made by her mom? Wow, even the grasshopper? Wooow! Yay Nina Mama. XD

Kinda miss trick or treating. XDDD

  • This is so cuuuuute!!! I cried from how cute it is!!!

  • i love her little dance and her expression when she sees her number. looks like she enjoyed herself. very cute! thanks for sharing~

  • Love her costume.

  • Thanks For Putting English Sub's! :D

I wanna learn more english ^-^

  • i love watching nina's videos..she's so adorable!! :-) keep 'em coming! btw, does she have any idea about the internet and how a lot of people all over the world know about her?

and i love that you can speak japanese fluently..i wish the one day, i will be able to do so too :-)

  • @chichi514 No, I've tried to explain to her that people see her videos and make comments, but I think in her mind it's probably like 10 people. ha ha

Japanese is Nina's primary language. It's her English fluency that I worry about.

    Are you studying Japanese now?

  • @geofg: i actually notice that you always talk to her in English and that's when i figured you're worried about her English. i studied Japanese since I've always wanted to learn it but it's really hard to be fluent at a language if you have no one to practice it with. how did you learn? and how long did it take for you to be fluent?

btw, i love hearing Nina speak in Japanese so i always try to look for the videos in which she does :-)

  • @chichi514 I never would have reached conversational proficiency in Japanese had I not been living here. I don't know how people do it. Even living here, it seems like it took 3 or 4 years before I really felt like I could hold a conversation in Japanese.

So, all I can say is, stick with it!

  • @geofg: thanks! i will try my best! will try to look for japanese friends here whom i can converse with! hahaha

  • the Nina's custome is so cute!! ^^

  • Awww how lovely! that must have been so exciting for Nina to be one of the winners! lots of goodies! The costume was so creative ^_^ well done Mama!

  • I love Nina's costume!!

it is so creative =D who came up with the whole costume?

  • @mycotoxin Something got into Nina's mother this year and she was suddenly hit with the inspiration for the costume. She even downloaded a pattern from the internet to sew the grasshopper. It's not even a Japanese holiday, so I'm not sure where she channeled that from. ha ha

  • Argh! Cute overload! Nina is so adorable!

  • whoa... such a good costume!! mama is great!

  • Omedetougozaimaaaasu!!! NIna-chan!! That's great! Her costume was incredibly creative! I love the little grasshopper with the "x" eyes...I"ve always found little x's on dead things hilarious! ^_^

Thanks for sharing Geofg! & Happy Belated Halloween!! ♥

  • @zeroarashi That was all Mama's doing. At first Nina felt weird about eating the grasshopper, but when we put the Xs on the eyes to show it was dead, then it made more sense to her.

  • That costume was genius! I love how creative it was, very smart! The Grasshopper was an amazing touch! Sorry If you've answered this already, but what was the prize exactly? was it just beautifully assorted treats? ; O so curious XD haha

  • @TeshiMeshi Yes, nice treats plus a gift certificate for a free lunch at a nice restaurant. The grasshopper was hand-made by Nina's mother. She was going for the prize, I think. ha ha

  • Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute, cute!

  • @gimmeabonedog Did you type all those cutes or did you cut and paste?

  • @geofg

What's cut and paste. Are you implying I stole those cutes from another poster!?

  • @Gimmeaflakeman I'm gonna go check my other vids and see if there are a bunch of missing cutes from the comments. ha ha

Nah, just wondered if you typed cute once, and then copied it and then hit paste paste paste paste paste...

  • @geofg

    Dude, I'm LAZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!

  • Adorable

  • i want to know what the prize is! lol

  • @lcathy She got some snacks and a ticket for a free lunch at a nice restaurant.

  • wow...that's such long way to say trick or treat...I would just be like "yo....gimme candy"

    awesome spider costume :o

  • さすがnina!

  • I feel provoked. Next year I may have to make a Halloween costume. I've been the same four years running now. Eek.

  • awww she's always cute as always ;)

  • wowwwww Omedetogozaimasu >> Congrats from Thailand ^^

  • Oooh, Mama did a GREAT job at the costume :O The web is just awesome!!

  • I always get excited when I see an update from you!! I love Nina! She's the cutest and sweetest spider I've ever seen :) I didn't know Japanese celebrate Halloween too. Thank you sharing your joy of Nina with us and the Japanese culture too. We won't be able to see it and experience it.. I really wanna go Japan one day! Kitto! :) Anticipating for the Nina video!! :)

  • @bakahimesama Thanks! I hope you get a chance to come to Japan some day!

  • I was wondering what the actual translation of "trick or treat" in Japanese is? It's so long. Nina is the cutest thing ever! And what a clever idea for mama!

  • @DarkWingDeDe "If you don't give us some snacks, we will play a trick on you."

    And, thanks!

  • Congratulations, Nina! And, great work on the costume, Mama!

  • Awesome!! Nina is the world loveliest and cutest spider now. Haha

  • @aoiahiru No, that's the prominade at Osu Kanon.

  • im going to marry her if she turns 19

  • Ninas Mama did a excellent job on the costume. Nina looked SO CUTE!! I also loved the little grasshopper. haha

    What was first place costume?

  • @melzaelf There were no first or second places. They had 10 different winners with prizes supplied by various sponsors. Nina's number 2 was just her registration number. Most of the winners were group entries. Nina was one of the only single person entries.

And, thanks! I don't know what got into Mama this year, but she just decided to go all out in making Nina's costume.

  • wooow you won nina, hhehehee nice spider girl :) congrats nina...

  • did you see a number two? \/\ (^0^) /\/ \/\ (^0^) /\/

ten and 5 and 5 and あいだ !!

  • how do you celebrate Halloween in Japan? Is it only special big events like this that's hosted, or do kids actually go around in small groups from houses to houses for candies? I grew up in Korea and came to US when I was young and we didn't have a Halloween in Korea... so i was wondering lol :)

  • @aeyeni Yeah, it's pretty much only at events like this. I think most households in Japan would have no idea what to do if a bunch of trick or treaters came knocking at their door. ha ha

  • @geofg LOL i can imagine lil kids in costumes and very confused ppl ~im sleepy so yeah ~but seriously~you know that some teens like to dress up ...they don't dress up for Halloween?? ya know just randomly? =^.^=

  • @xXmEleNcOlyXx There are isolated groups here and there who have Halloween costume parties, usually started by foreigners living here.

  • @geofg o i see o.o ji ji ~~but Nina is still super cute ,you agree??!! =^.^=

  • Congratssss ,,NINA :)

    U always look cute :D

  • kawaii!!! That's so nice of oka-san to make that costume for Nina. My mother used to make costumes for me when I was little. best memories of my youth.

Congrats on winning a prize, Nina!

  • Wow! That's an awesome costume, good job! Nina looks great!

  • おめでとうニナちゃん!とてもかわいいくもですよ!ハッピハロウィーン!

  • What a creative costume!!!!! Mamasan is very clever ne ! Who organized such a great parade and contest? I am curious; what did Nina win? Nina, you are the prettiest spider that I have ever sen!

  • @mohjoh1947 Some local merchants donated the prizes for the event. I think this was the first year for the event. Nina had various snacks in the bag, and we got a certificate for a free lunch at a nice restaurant.

  • That costume rocks!!

  • Adorable. Just adorable. Her english keeps getting better and better, wow!

Isn't she afraid of spiders though?

  • Nina so cuteeee

    Who is her costume?

She looks not excited for interview.

  • @tissnadi Nina felt a bit shy in the interview, I think.

  • SO CUTE!

  • @jerremm ha ha Yeah, we probably could have wrapped Nina in a trash bag and some commenters still would have liked it. But, the hand sewn grasshopper and umbrella net were nice touches, I thought.

  • Wow nina kawaii in her spider's costume, her costume was awsome and so beautiful

  • super damn kawaii neee,, >,< wanna hold her,,kyaaa :D

  • super kawaii!! i like her costume!! :) great job nina!! has nina read the poem the spider and the fly? i bet she would like that. :)

  • @Justagurl51 Yeah, that's a good one. I'll have to read it to her.

  • congratulations nina chan :) good job geoff and wife :)

to her mom>> she really is cute wuth the custome :) good job!!

  • @TheJoy0919 Thanks! I'll pass the word on!

  • Nina is so cute :)

  • Cutest kumo-san, if i ever did see one.

  • kawaii ^_^

Mama sure has some amazing talent, and Nina is the perfect model!

  • @hellondoth Thanks! I'll tell Mama you said that!

  • Damn, if that was second place, wonder what first place costume was like.

  • @FireStormBaller No, everyone whose number was on that board won a prize. Nina's entry number just happened to be 2.

  • @geofg Ah, I get it.

  • I LOVED her costume! So cute and clever. An umbrella for the web? and the arms were connected! Glad she one second place!

  • @purplesomeone Thanks! Mama made the whole thing. And, Nina was just the number two entry. There were no first or second places. All the people whose numbers were on that board won a prize.

  • What's that kid supposed to be who was standing next to Nina while she was receiving her prize? The kid in white face at 2:25. Is that like a mime character?

  • @KingVikram think he's supposed to be a chinese zombie (jiang shi/僵尸)

  • @speciallyi That's what I think, too, except I thought it was a girl.

  • It actually surprises me that Japan does the whole Halloween thing. We don't even do it that enthusiastically in the UK! But yay for Nina for looking cute as ever and winning a prize (and Mama for making it!). Was that a giant bug caught up in her web? hehe

  • @lisacs83 Most of Japan doesn't do anything for Halloween. My wife found out about this event on the internet. It's the closest thing you can get to trick or treating in Japan.

And, yep, that is a butterfly caught in the web.

  • awwwww. too cute. my best friend has been following nina grow up for sometime and showed me this channel. awesome

  • Awww, she was a cute little spider. Great idea with the web. I bet that definitely got her some points, but I'm sure it was mostly the cuteness :P

  • YAY NINA! Congratulations on your prize!

  • Nina is as cute as always ... and also such great parents for putting so much effort into the costume ...

  • @unchainp Thanks! It was all Mama. I just gave verbal support.

  • so cute! loved her costume!!! especially with the dead grasshopper!

  • ニーナはとてもかわいいクモです!

(sorry if that's a bad translation lol)

  • @Goddessneo8787x That translation is fine! Thanks!

  • DEAD CRICKET!!!

  • aww that was soo cute!!

  • Waaa nina's mama is so talented!!!!!!

  • congrats nina.. Nina was so cute

  • cutest. spifer. ever.

    wow Nina grows fast nowadays!

  • that was the longest "trick or treat" ever

  • I think "Tsu-riku ou tsu-rito" would be a lot easier then that really long sentence! What does it mean anyway?

  • @mozart028 " If you don't give us candy, we'll play a trick on you!"

It rhymes in Japanese, though, so it sounds a bit better than that. ( okashi o kurenai TO, itazura suru ZO)

  • AWW congrats Nina, you looked really cute. :D

  • LOL, that Chinese ghost was trying to check out Nina's loot. haha

  • @LadyFlameSniper ha ha Yeah, the Chinese ghost was the only other single person winner, I think. All the other winners were group entries. Each winner got a bag of goodies from a different sponsor, so I guess they were all different, hence the Chinese ghost's curiosity.

  • Oh man, I've never heard "trick or treat" in Japanese. It's just a literal translation. Funny!

Also, I LOVED Nina's costume. I don't really like seeing all those store-bought costumes. I spent Halloween in Canada, and there were so many DISNEY PRINCESSES and WITCHES, and very little creativity. My mom used to make my costumes too, I'm glad she won a prize. Maybe she'll get first place next year!!! :)))

  • @Ciaela Nina wanted to be a Disney princess, actually, but this image of Nina as a little spider eating a grasshopper just came to Akiko one day, and we talked it up and Nina got on board with the idea. I don't think we would have entered her in a contest if we just had a storebought costume.

  • Haha.. Awesome costume!! She got jipped getting second.. Those judges were bought off.. *sigh* It happens in Japan too I see ;P Thanks for sharing Nina the spider with us, too cute! :D

  • @joshuarawr No, number 2 is just Nina's entry number. My wife was one of the first to register her. There was no first or second prize, just about 10 different prizes from different sponsors.

  • 'Uhhh?' So cute...

It's amazing how Halloween is such a big deal here in Japan. In Australia, barely anyone celebrates it.

Looking forward to the next video ^^

  • @tias90 Most places in Japan don't really do anything for Halloween, but my wife found out about this event on the internet.

  • she is so cute

  • NINA IS SO CUTE I WANNA BITE HER!!!

  • so cute

  • ISSO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!! すごくかわいい!

    ニーナちゃん、おめでとう~。

Mama was very enterprising and creative with the costume! xD it's very well done.

Papa must be so proud! ^___^ oh and thanks for another video. it really is a joy to watch.

  • @PBnJem Thanks! Yes, Nina was a great model and Mama did a great job on the costume, and all I had to do was take the pictures!

  • awww so cute!

  • i hope she had a happy halloween.

  • ahh, the japanese way for saying "trick or treat" is so long :P

  • @HelloHeyEmma Yeah, it's a mouthful!

  • Did you guys make Nina's umbrella wings? If so, it was very creative!!

  • @Tobleroneisbomb i don't think that are wings, as spider don't have wings.

i think it's spider web with a moth trapped on it.. creative huh? :P

  • she's so adorable!!!!!

and great job on the costume mama!

  • awesome! that is such a unique costume. lol

  • biggest spider i've ever seen! but so cute too :)
