  • @J801506 I did at one point retopologise to get better density in the mesh. So I could animate it if I added uvs and rendered out the normalmap.. :)

  • How did you manage to smooth out everything like that? I'm still new to Zbrush.. was it with the regular smooth tool?

  • @du6167 I used a stronger smoothing brush.. called Smooth Stronger .. youll find it under brushes

  • @frozenlicks I used clay tubes. Prob took 3 - 4 hours, cant really remember, its been a while...

  • the face is not flat enough at 3:29 it sticks out rly far and makes the forehead look too bulky. the face has to be longer aswell (making it more elegant) .... enough of the criticism, still looks astonishing great work!!

  • Would love to get step by step lesson on how to do that stuff since i am still new to zbrush i wanted to make myself a na'vi but its harder then i thought.

  • @Hellmaster12 it demands a lot of study of human anatomy and sculpting techniques. Its not something you can just pick up and do without studying like all artists do. I could do a step by step tutorial if necessary? Ill just use the same movie, and talk while Im sculpting about what Im doing. Will that help?

  • @u3190 Im not going to render it for now, I havent thouched it in a while. Im currently working on other things like rendering with mental ray and lightning of bigger scenes.

    well its not uppose to be flat at all the bridge is more downward so still its great so please make sure you get your facts straight about perfection

  • I like it, it looks really good, I just think you made the ears too large. They're thinner at the tips, and more narrow. Also, her neck is too masculine. For the rest, great job :)

    I'm trying to make a na'vi myself, using Mudbox. Maybe I should give zbrush a try

  • How did you make the dreadlocks? Ive made my sister her own avatar but its bald.

  • I made them in 3d studio max with some modelling, duplicating and splines. mostly path deforming.

  • GOD MAN! THE HAIR ON THE NAVIS IN THE MOVIE ARNT DREADLOCKS! THERE BRAIDS! GET IT RIGHT! U3190! JESUS! dreads and braided hair is different and obviously each represent different things please observe MORE!

    and to be honest, I think u3190 made a more accurate version of a Na'vi than I did..

    I hadnt seen the movie when I made this one, and I could tell did I did some big mistakes.

    My opinion is that u3190 is doing a great job working on his na'vi's.. I saw his Zbrush thread, I thought it was very good.

  • im loving that MatCap, where did you get it?

  • what matcap are you talking about.. The first one I use is a matcap that comes with zbrush called matcap grey.. the more brownish one is called "matAerniturntable01". The last one in the turntable is called matcap white cavity and it comes with zbrush... hope this helps..

  • I used 6 sub divisions.. Then I did a retopo to get better mesh on areas like he eyes and the ears.. then I went up to division 6 again and started detailing and smoothing out the clay. I cut the retopo prosess out of the video.. didnt feel it was important, and it would confuse people who are not familiar with zbrush.
