and since half are married and they're not teens anymore they've matured and maybe have gotten tired of their old sound, so in the long run if they dont break up, they could release a sweet album with the sound of old laced with the the new.(one can only hope and you stay a true fan, no matter what the band may do) now if they turned into americana or country then thats a whole other story-heh
I'm ridiculously addicted to these albums! and at first i thought i would hate Earth, but thats the one i listen to the most asides water. Also i wish they would release a new album with the intensity of their old albums(like all the heavy sets and such) but with intertwining lyrics and melodies like the new albums. Oh And yeah their stuff sounds way different from their earlier albums but if you really think about it they've grown up and traveled outside the US, plus 1/2 are married.
how fucking good was this tour? artist in ambulance tour was sick and heavy and CRAZY, but amazing to be able to chill and relax and zone out for some songs, and then jump RIGHT in the pit for the rest. gives me time for my shirt to dry up, and my neck dosent hurt as much in the morning.

We are far from The Illusion Of Safety, The Artist in the Ambulance and Identity Crisis here.. I listened this band before a thousand of times and more but now.. its just too emo for me.. where is the old thrice? the old metal thrice!? Its just me or what? Anyone here remember their old albums?
man they can't just keep writing metal songs because you want them too. artists progress and thrice is doing so. even if you dont like the new stuff you gotta respect them for trying something new and challenging themselves.
yea I respect thrice, i just say my opinion! if you like it I respect ya all, but i dont like it anymore. sorry. too emotional for me! He sing likes a little poetic girl. they make me laugh seriously.. so i dont want ennemy.. I respect his songs, but im not a fan anymore.. I talk for the fags who cant say anything here because they dont want their hotmail box flooded by emo crying comments. ok here we go SPAM
Well, at least you had a respectable response. It's all good, this isn't your partictular taste, but at least you said the words i love to hear "i respect thrice". I just hate when people say that something sucks, simply because they don't personally like it. It is extremely emotional, so i can see your point, sorry for being so rash.
I can see why you are disappointed that they have strayed from their roots, but if you truly appreciate music in general you will see that these (the alchemy index) are some of the greatest songs they have ever written. The songs are definitely not bad... in fact quite the opposite. I love the old thrice as well as the new
p0werc0rdz, if you think poetry is for girls and emos only, does that make Bob Dylan a girly emo? Straighten your views out, try thinking for yourself instead of regurgitating nonsense youve heard from whoever. I can listen emo but not from his mouth.
I would just have to disagree with you completely. did you listen to this song's chorus and ending? or the sky is falling? or daedelus? or all of fire? Would you say that the emo started with alchemy 2? or Vhiessu?
To be honest, the older stuff is more "screamo" than anything. It was whiney and strained. So...the "this is emo" argument is retarded, at best.
That's not to say I don't like the old stuff. I've been a fan for five years, but going back and listening to the older albums after listening to the newer ones, you see a big difference. His vocals are more refined and controlled, and the songs themselves are less frantic and more melodic and structured.

they don't believe it they are probably just considering it, but so am I, and I want to know the truth as well "We want answers; screamed from the roofs. We want justice. We want the truth"
Is this song really about a 9/11 conspiracy because Im at a loss here. Can someone more intelligent then me please let me know what is happening, I cant fathom any of the guys in thrice believing that crap.
no one is saying it was absolutely an inside job, but look at some stuff and youll realize there are some very interesting unanswered questions surrounding 911.
such as: how does jet fuel pulverize concrete into micron sized(100x smaller thant he circumfrence of a human hair i think) particles? do some reasearch and find truth for yourself.
this song sucks. its fucking lame cuz the guitar sounds like a kazoo and the lyrics are as good as Simple Plan lyrics. Thrice is probably one of the worst bands today and they dont work hard at all, they have everything just handed to them. The first 2 discs of the alchemy index were horrible and showed no creativity at all. It scares to me think what kind of shit will come after this because it just seems to me that their albums get worse and worse and worse. I fucking hate thrice.
I can understand not wanting other songs to leak, but this is the only one (and maybe Silver Wings too) that i hope gets leaked. I want to listen to the album version of this song so bad that it hurts lol
Haha. That must be Dustin's favorite new shirt! When I saw them back in November, he wore it, and now I've seen a couple other videos with him wearing that shirt.
Yes, and they really did that song justice. Everything was perfect. I got Banjowned by that song. And I dare say that it is better than the original song by Frodus. It's sounds like folk tool to me for some reason. Ed did a great job on that song. Overall, completely amazing.
It was played on a Brittish online radio station. I got it from my friends at Waterispoison, the official thice fan site. If you'd like to, make an account and have someone pm to you. My name is xxConsidertheRavensxx on WIP, and if your a Thrice fan, we'd love to have you.
Haha. First off, love all your comments (besides saying the typical "huge fan of Thrice" or "favorite band" I can honestly say they alone expanded my musical influences, when i first heard their high school stuff i listened to rock/screamo/punk only). Earth is going to be amazing (only heard 2 songs, epic) and this air song is amazing and i just hope no more songs get leaked till april to build anticipation. Anyways to my comment after all that rambling, "Banjowned" made me have a good laugh.
Unfortunately I can't take credit for Banjowned. It's one of the captions under a picture of Teppei with a banjo recording the earth disc. But yeah I can really see this being the best realease of 2008.
I wanna say drop b based on where the fret positions that they play and the heavy part they play at the end. And, if you notice, the heavy part at the end has a similiar tone to Like Moths to a Flame. But I could be wrong. They're still the greatest band on earth.
i'd have to disagree on the drop b tuning. teppei and dustin are both using telcasters, teppei witha 52 and dustin witha 72. it would be impossible to get a drop B tuning with a tele. unless they used super fatass strings which i doubt they did.
But knowing Thrice, I wouldn't put it past them to use some not even slinky strings, they sre fans of Ernie Ball. But I see what you're saying. Usually during the heavy songs, Teppei picks up the Jag. Either way, they're still the greatest band on earth. I'm really excited for Air and earth. Moving mountains was really cool. Even though Teppei was really sick, he played the crap out of that song. And Dustin plays does play some wicked Tamborine.
Then you need to step it up a little bit my friend. They're so much cleaner as a band live then they used to be. And that's really saying something seeing how they've always been a great live band. Hopefully I'll get to meet these guys in Austin when they come around. I've been telling my friends at WIP that'd I'd get a picture with them for ages. Anyway, see them ASAP.
Well Thirce usually plays in Drop C. They do play in B on The Earth will Shake. But I believe Dustin plays with that funny looking rare Gibson of his. But then again Thrice are hard to figure out sometimes, but I want to say in C. And any tunnung can be done on any Guitar and still sound good.
The Illusing of Safety is their most complete effort, I saw them in 2003 when The Artist in the Ambulance came out, They played second after coheed and cambria, but before thursday took the stage. Their best 2 albums are when brian mcternan produced them. The last 2 albums have been good, but they haven't topped Artist in the Ambulance.
the first time i saw thrice was aon that same tour with two of my favorite bands, coheed and thursday and thought they were great i have seen thrice 3 times since then and im ust say they play the new material great live. this coming from a fan whose favorite thrice album was TIOS, i must agree though that 2 most recent records are probably the best. why do people find the need to always hold a band to their earlier work, both old and new thrice are great.
I own every Thrice disc and yeah Alchemy and Vheissu are great, i love them to death. But TAITA will always be my fav. I still like the direction where the band is headed.
First off, I'm not for bringing back anything. Secondly, If you were to go by fan base alone, then korn is a much better band than thrice. In my opinion the both of the forementioned records are better. They were before thrice started trying to be electronic, and folk(not that theres anything wrong with that even). I just prefer their older albums, maybe Air/Earth will change my mind. I love all of their albums.
yeah man your pretty lame..how would you like if your friends were like your ok dude but we'd rather hang out with the you from 3 years ago...you would tell them to fuck themselves...thrice has grown into a sound salvation...the depth of this new album is insanely tremendous...but if you think back.they were rocking the stage with TandC then to awake and avenge the dead, silhouette, of dust and nations...all great songs off great albums but open up your ears and expand your horizons.thrice rocks
First off,I dont need to think back. I've been listening to and going to see thrice since 2001, I used to go to their shows all over orange and LA county, back when they used to tour with Taken. I never said their newer 2 albums are bad, in fact both of them are quite good, I personally believe they have never topped the level they set with artist in the ambulance. My horizons are wide enough, Thrice does rock, I just personally prefer their other 2 albums, there is no bad thrice.
I honestly agree with you. Im a die hard fan of thrice, and i loooveee their new albums, but i think Artist In The Ambulance was one of the most genious albums ever written.
I agree, but once Vheissu grew on me I realized how superior it is. Vheissu is not only my favorite Thrice album, but it is my favorite album of all time. It's as genious as it is haunting and beautiful
i think air will be my favorite because it sounds like a combination of fire, water and earth from what thrice has said in their interviews.........i just being wondering how in the world will they ever follow up alchemy index up
but its thrice and they amaze me
p.s i think thrice so should go for this sound more often cuz its kinda heavy but its mellow....just my opoinon i still love the heavy stuff by thrice though.
if you listen very close around 1:53 dustin says "so we breath with broken lungs". broken lungs is one of the song titles on the tracklisting they released. I could be wrong but i doubt it.
i watched the mysterious thrice song video and i cant figure out whether its a song thats going to be on the air album or if it was a cover they did. Or if it was the 4th b-side of vheissu. I don't know, i wish i did tho....
I think it's the fourth B-side that was never released, and if it's on air that would be badass. i remember Riley saying somewhere that they used "ideas" that they didn't use on Vheissu. But Ed has a killer bass line in that song, and it'd be awesome to hear it on an ablum where the quality doesn't suck. the songs been around a while though.
this is some amazing shit...why would a band write the same stuff as they already did..thats fucking boring..u don't want to turn out to be a shitty band like nickelback that keeps writing the same stuff over and over again
i agree with their decision on their change of music sound, i love it all, and i agree with chainshankedable, srsly, would you rather them all sound the same? i think not, kick more ass thrice :]
im sorry everybody....this song isnt called open water. Thats another one...it should be on their first alchemy index video. IF you want to know some details concerning the album go to MTV's site, they interviewed dustin and he shared some interesting details regarding the album.
1. it's totally possible they are screwing with us. so we dont know too much about the upcoming epic(which i am still calling it). 2) they're getting all "high" or "experimental" on us, or 3)a goal of alchemy, which is the concept of the epic, was to combine elements. I might be totally wrong, but something to think about. peace dudes
i've been going on metallica, pantera, slayer, and cannibal corpse videos saying that they are emo. hahahaha people are FLIPPIN OUT!!! HAHAHAHAHA!! FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!! i love thrice btw.
ya metal sucks anyway

They have topped TIOS and TAITA to a huge extent.
First off, if you look at it this way, their fan base has grown immensely. That might tell you something right there.
Secondly, their lyrics, their music has so much more meaning! The time and effort they have put in for this album is enormous.

rojas1546 4 years ago
I own every Thrice disc and yeah Alchemy and Vheissu are great, i love them to death. But TAITA will always be my fav. I still like the direction where the band is headed.
mattysesh 4 years ago
First off, I'm not for bringing back anything. Secondly, If you were to go by fan base alone, then korn is a much better band than thrice. In my opinion the both of the forementioned records are better. They were before thrice started trying to be electronic, and folk(not that theres anything wrong with that even). I just prefer their older albums, maybe Air/Earth will change my mind. I love all of their albums.

yeah man your pretty lame..how would you like if your friends were like your ok dude but we'd rather hang out with the you from 3 years ago...you would tell them to fuck themselves...thrice has grown into a sound salvation...the depth of this new album is insanely tremendous...but if you think back.they were rocking the stage with TandC then to awake and avenge the dead, silhouette, of dust and nations...all great songs off great albums but open up your ears and expand your horizons.thrice rocks
right247 4 years ago
First off,I dont need to think back. I've been listening to and going to see thrice since 2001, I used to go to their shows all over orange and LA county, back when they used to tour with Taken. I never said their newer 2 albums are bad, in fact both of them are quite good, I personally believe they have never topped the level they set with artist in the ambulance. My horizons are wide enough, Thrice does rock, I just personally prefer their other 2 albums, there is no bad thrice.
yesterdaydying 4 years ago
I honestly agree with you. Im a die hard fan of thrice, and i loooveee their new albums, but i think Artist In The Ambulance was one of the most genious albums ever written.
Its hard to top an album like that.
Maybe soon we'll see it happen? 0.o
DarkSylum 3 years ago
I agree, but once Vheissu grew on me I realized how superior it is. Vheissu is not only my favorite Thrice album, but it is my favorite album of all time. It's as genious as it is haunting and beautiful
SketchaMPM 3 years ago 2
of all time... ? calm down dude ;)
Bongobob26 3 years ago
he said his FAVORITE album of all time, not the BEST album of all time, it's his opinion... you can't really negate that.
drmofcali4niktun 3 years ago 2
i think air will be my favorite because it sounds like a combination of fire, water and earth from what thrice has said in their interviews.........i just being wondering how in the world will they ever follow up alchemy index up
but its thrice and they amaze me
p.s i think thrice so should go for this sound more often cuz its kinda heavy but its mellow....just my opoinon i still love the heavy stuff by thrice though.
yothriceiscool 4 years ago
Dang that is intense. Pretty heavy Air. But very good nonetheless.
Listen to that falsetto during the end. Dustin has it all.

if you listen very close around 1:53 dustin says "so we breath with broken lungs". broken lungs is one of the song titles on the tracklisting they released. I could be wrong but i doubt it.

i watched the mysterious thrice song video and i cant figure out whether its a song thats going to be on the air album or if it was a cover they did. Or if it was the 4th b-side of vheissu. I don't know, i wish i did tho....
sometimesoonfan 4 years ago
I think it's the fourth B-side that was never released, and if it's on air that would be badass. i remember Riley saying somewhere that they used "ideas" that they didn't use on Vheissu. But Ed has a killer bass line in that song, and it'd be awesome to hear it on an ablum where the quality doesn't suck. the songs been around a while though.

the way they have evolved is so amazing... best fucking band on stage... too much energy
xxpitukoxx 4 years ago
this is some amazing shit...why would a band write the same stuff as they already did..thats fucking boring..u don't want to turn out to be a shitty band like nickelback that keeps writing the same stuff over and over again
hrulz15 4 years ago
i agree with their decision on their change of music sound, i love it all, and i agree with chainshankedable, srsly, would you rather them all sound the same? i think not, kick more ass thrice :]

Bands do mature their not going to be making songs like paper tigers still (o wait they are) this is just a song of one of the less loud ep's

gay is your ass motherfucker.

A band's gay because they've evolved their sound over the years? Would it be cool if they just made the same CD over and over?
CainShankedAbel 4 years ago 2
hahaha you're names funny. and i agree with what you're saying.

im sorry everybody....this song isnt called open water. Thats another one...it should be on their first alchemy index video. IF you want to know some details concerning the album go to MTV's site, they interviewed dustin and he shared some interesting details regarding the album.
sometimesoonfan 4 years ago
it's on the air disc and called open water?
heh.
oniphage 4 years ago
1. it's totally possible they are screwing with us. so we dont know too much about the upcoming epic(which i am still calling it).
