I remember this day! i was stuck on the E Train for 1 hour! FUN! And it was fucking hot! you couldnt see anything! we for a while thought it was another attack! none of our cellphones worked. but payphones did!
@harokirl exactly! I live here in manhattan and that guy REALLY annoyed me. It's like get over it mate, there was alot of looting at the blackout I remember but there were some places where it was like this ad and when it happened I was at time square and everything just stopped and everyone crapper themselves loool then everyone found out and it just became a party with candles :)
@chauhan1954 - This Side Of The Blue by Joanna Newsom, off the debut album called The Milk-Eyed Mender. She has just released and incredible new triple album called Have One On Me - check it out. She is my favourite artist.

I didn't mean to give you a "thumbs down" I meant to giveyou thumbs up! But, I did fly to nyc on the 13th.. and the blackout happened on the 14th...I have been to nyc when times square is not working. I have two songs about nyc and this one is one of them x
ps, I have been to NY, and I am not showing off..but when the blackout happened I did fly in on Concord, by the way I flew out on normal air, the blackout to me is very significant and loveley....the people of New York that time were amazing and i am still in awe......Brilliant, first class. I can honesly say, I have been to NY many times, I saw the spirit of the people and it was absolutley first class. I have to say, I have seen Times Square in total darkness............what a day that was x
I live in nyc, I rememeber the day of the black out. It was amazing where people of all different back grounds came together to help each other.People offering people their never met before a place to stay, food to eat, it was like a big party.
Exactly....... I am from England and flew in to ny on the 13th, I love NYC,c but I can honestly say that was my happiest time I ever had in NY. I go there at least one a year, blackout was without of a shadow of a doubt the best, happiest, funniest time ever in NY.
I know right, who does orange think it is? I'm so glad you are here, to say fuck orange, so that orange will get on youtube and be like, "what? al8as says fuck us? We MUST be doing something wrong!" And they'll change their fuckable ways. Thank you so much.
That's right. We were in the middle of recording session when the power went out. Everybody was pretty freaked out cuz of 911 and all, but when ppl realized what had really happened, we took our instruments and went on the beach. Had massive party! Best time ever!
i agree, especially with all the s**t we see in the world and the recent problems new york has faced. I know people that were there during the blackout and they said it was awesome.

I love this advert, My favourite of all time :). Especially when you see it in a cinema, Everyone is talking, then this come on and everyone just goes quiet.
I love everything about this ad. I'm in advertising myself and I don't think I've seen many other ads that quite capture the human heart as this, it makes me well up. sounds stupid I know but there ya go.
When I first saw this ad in the cinema with the lights out and quite loud, it really sent a shiver down me, it really made me think. ANyone know what song it is?
