  • That was meant to say Edwyn sings on the flip side. Too late to type. Must get some sleep.

  • Great version. I have the 12" version which includes the all the original lines. Also, I think Paul sings on the flip side.

  • I have the 12" I bought at the time (being a huge fan of Orange Juice), but since I haven't listened to it in ages (shame on me), I'm disappointed to realize that Edwyn doesn't sing at all on this beautiful song I love so much.

  • This is the best version of the song ever recorded. Paul is a soulful and distinctive singer and Edwyn is a legend!

  • @k3nnyc It could have been but i think you are wrong..

they skip some of the best verses/lyrics of the song.. like

''thought of you as my mountain top, thought of you as my peak, thoght of you as everything i've had but couldn't keep...''

  • Late 80s. Time does pass, sadly.

  • Oooooohh yeahhhhhh!!!

I already have this awesome song in a Cd named "Diving for pearls" it´s awesome!!!

  • Paul Quinn was an awsome front man and singer, sadly he now suffers from MS! Saw him a few years ago in Glasgow being pushed in a wheelchair by Alan Horne.

  • they look like brothers!

  • Saw this on TV when it was shown and it totally blew me away. I was quite young but it became my favourite song It wasn't until i heard the REM cover that i knew the history.

Brilliant song and a really good cover.

  • @dascotton they did not write this either, it is a lou reed original

  • Edwyn is such a wag. You gotta love him.

  • WOW

  • I remember when Aztec Camera played in Stockholm (or it was more like Roddy Frame solo) and Edwyn turned up as a surprise guest (and I screamed like a teenage girlie!) and they played this one!!! I was in heaven!!!1

  • GALLUS.

  • I went out with a girl who's ex-husband was a drummer in a band with Edwyn Collins. They girl and guy had separated, but he had left his record collection at her place. She allowed me to take whatever I wanted....I so wanted to take this 12", but I just couldn't do that to the guy, so I pinched a couple of Magazine 7" and a Rolf Harris one too...don't ask any more.

  • i have a 12" white label,but i would not swap for the world.superb cover version.

  • got 7inch since 84 love it

  • The version on Diving for Pearls is the 7" version, so much better than the 12" version. Well worth tracking down ...

  • Thanks for posting this. I remember seeing this clip twenty odd years back. Never thought I'd see it again. Just great!

  • Where's Paul Q. these days ? Someone has fresh (good or bad) news of this big voice ? I'm always playing his beautiful album recorded with The Independent Group, "The Phantom & The Archetypes". Thanks.

  • Word has it that he's gravely ill with MS these days, and Alan Horne is seeing him through it. Hopefully it's not that drastic...

  • Sad... Thanks.

  • He lives here in Dundee - quite often see him in Tesco!!!

  • It is better than even the Velvets, it really is, don't care what anybody says.......

  • A very rare occasion when a cover is better than the original - I used to have this on vinyl, I've tried everywhere to get it on CD or as a download.

  • If you can find a copy of the compilation CD "Diving For Pearls Vol 1" this is on there. It came out late 80s on Dindisc. Still copies kicking around!

  • love it to death. xxxx

  • The best version ever.

  • that was a B side --A side Aint that Always the way was A1 !

  • Is that Val Kilmer on guitar?

  • No! That is Edwyn Collins....

  • Now that was funny!

  • considering he's supposed to be dead his new album is quite good for a dead guy. The news must have come as a shock to him!!

  • a couple of posers - posing like haddies, I guess now that they are both dead that's in bad taste- celery - as the French say.

  • Your wrong they both linger on.

  • This is my all time favourite song. Never knew this video existed. thank you thank you thank you. Takes me back to those heady days!

  • One of my all time favourites.

  • Never seen this video before. This song was also for the Soundtrack of the film Punk Rock Hotel. Edwyn Collins produced the record. Paul Quinn & Edwyn Collins also released a second single, Ain't That Always The Way, which Edwyn penned. Their recordings together were limited but fruitful. RepresentingWales below is correct, Quinn's Will I Ever Be Inside You album is worth seeking out.

  • utter utter class check out edwyns new single the

    videos on youtube

  • OMG. Been looking for this version of this song for ages. Reminds me of my first proper girlfriend, used to listen to this song constantly on her old record player in her bedroom. Feefee if your out there I still think about you. xxx

  • That's the worst version of Pale Blue Eyes I've ever heard.

If Lou Reed were dead he'd be rolling around in his grave.
