Good looking Trike. You Aussies have a talent for building .The best looking custom Trikes i have seen are built by you guys. Thans for posting and Gods speed.
I gave the frame away away ~4 months ago the rest was scrapped or used on the following e0bike build (check my other videos for the 'RC Cruiser' and '2 speed cruiser' i have built since this trike... Cheers

p.s the new bikes i wouldnt sell as they are for under $US3k
i really liked your bike it looks great. its probibly one of the cleanest designed bike ive seen. but you never mentioned how far you can get on a charge with you and your chair. also how fast it will go. i am interested in knowing so please let me know. you can send me some info at johnnybulldogz@hotmail.com thank you for building that. i am inspired.
@mccunecp - It is classified as an electric bicyle and requires no registration. For you in America you can fit a motor and/or petrol engine to your bicyle with a maximum output of 750watts in most states. If you check my other videos you will see my more recent builds you might find these of interest too ;-) If you wish to know more about these wonderful bikes and learn too build them join the Endless Sphere forum its totally free and a wealth of information, hope to see you there ;-)
love it did you have to register it and if so how and what how did you get it licenced ect I want so much to build it and did you use a motorcycle fram or hand bilt I want to build one so bad.
@mscofigexe- Thanks mates...if you have a minute perhaps check my other videos, you will see i do now have a two wheeled version, i have actually given this trike frame to another paraplegic i met on the Endless Sphere forum JUST this last weekend past, he hopes to build it back up to its 'former glory' and have fun on it as i once did...I am now totally devoted to building 2 wheel electric bikes i can ride...Thanks again
Hey, fantastic work on taking the time to outline each particular part. I must say I appreciate the drive system utilizing a deralleur. I hope you leave your chair soon enough to enjoy this beauty to its full potential, perhaps even work on the 2 wheeled version :D!
Happy engineering, innovating, riding and healing.
@thegoevi- google choppersUS or cyclesUS (same shop) they sell the 4.25in wide rims in 20, 24 &26in sizes...the 20's are often out of stock and a long wait time if they have none...the rest are usually always in stock..
@mctachi....you will be very disappointed with the motor in a motorcycle matey, check theworkshop.ca FrankG has a Suzuki build using unit motors, the motor in my trike is the one that used to be in his suzuki, it didnt cut it, replaced by two geared unite motors....Frank also now has my Kelly speed controller i donated it too him. I dont recal the exact model sorry, its one of their small brushed controllers 200amp max.
Best of luck, you should join Endless Sphere forum
@AussieJester69 Thanks for your reply. But I am sad to hear that.
I could not find the Suzuki motorcycle conversion in theworkshop.ca. Why the Unite motor so bad?
I am going to register my bike to the category which is limited less than 1kW rated power by Japanese low. I have searched for the motor in web shops in the world, but couldn't find suitable one other than Unite motor.
As for Endless Sphere forum, I have registered but not received a mail from them to activate my account...why?
Thanks mate, i have moved on from the trike, i now have a two wheel bike i ride, i tow the wheelchair behind it also, check my other videos for a look at it, in the rpocess of building my 4 e-bike now actually. More power and lighter haha
I transfer from wheelchair to bike pretty easily takes 2-3 seconds...the bike is stabilised by stabilising wheels, these wheels are raised and lowered using a linear actuator operated by a bar mounted switch, down to get on bike, when rolling raise them, lower again when stopping...etc...check my other videos you can see the stabilising unit...
@whitekidiam ..yes the keely had butter smooth acceleration was spot on couldn't recommend the kelly highly enough very solid units.
@bikebuilder13 - couldn't tell you sorry mate, i actually built 2 frames one complete bike before this, this one sort of 'morphed' from that...I have a new cruiser now 2 wheeler with retractable stabilizer bars, i no longer have the trike its been stripped.
where did you get those fat rear rims i need some for my also 48v trike i can send u an email with pics of my trike i think is just as sick as yours but not quite .any feed back is greatly appreciated .thanks
ChoppersUS but they are not always available you have to be lucky to get hold of 20in 4.25in rims new, best bet is looking for second hand OCC schwin bicycles on craigs list, they often come up cheap, they use these rims. I used a pair on the rear of my trike (not seen in video) I no longer have that trike i ride two wheeled cruiser now check my latest videos for pics of that...all the best.
I actually do have plans already printed out to convert Fisher & Paykel washing machine motors into generators for a windmill...You cant put a windmill on a bike and charge as you ride that would be a perpetual motion machine i.e producing more energy than it consumes not possible violates either the first and/or the second law of thermodynamics.
@AussieJester69 Beautiful trike! How about solar. It's not pretty but I've seen panels over the rear basket and front tire but I like the idea of a shade canopy covered with them. If not mounted on the bike, a docking station at home to independently charge conveyances. You can get all the hardware to capture 45- 90 watts via SOLAR for around $600.{batteries not included}
why not add wind mill to rechange ur battery so u dont have to plug in to rechange i have one bike with windmill i ride all day without plug rechange the battery
Great Trike, you should build for kit market. Those brake handles with electric switch? Really appreciate if they are and where to buy them. Double brakes on my Electric bicycle would solve all my braking issues.
Mate, you are a legend! It's innovators like yourself that will get this country moving forward again. The water-cooling system would probably top the bike up to 100kg, but I'm sure it would improve the flow of electrons around the battery and motor. Could this be registered as an electric vehicle to avoid any 'legal' entanglements? The only reason it would be pulled over is quizzical cops with no lateral thought.
@philscartoons Thanks Phil... I have actually moved on from the trike and made a two wheel cruiser that i can ride, utilises stabilising wheels that are raised and lowered via linear actuators controlled by a bar mounted switch, upped the power to 6500watts too hehe Video can be seen here on youttube, bike in 'working' mock up atm...
REALLY nice. I really love the way the frame, flows on the downtube, and the handle-bars flow perfectly with the backbone. Would'nt look out of place sat next to a full on custom chop mate!
Thanks mate...been a lil busy of late and missed a few replys..Still in town kissmyhho? I actually have donated this trike to a friend of mine whos legally blind, it is at present stripped but will be rebuilt for him. What a nice & Tidy unit. Love ya work, it looks like a serious machine not a toy which is the bit I love most. Have you considered using a proper motorbike gearbox instead of cycle gears?
That would probably make it too much like a registrable road trike though. I have seen & heard of a few people in Sydney lately getting fined under the new laws on electrics even pedal powered ones. The new laws state it can only be power assist not power propelled. Best of luck & a top job.
Hey AussieJester69, great job! I have been building powered bikes for personal use in Melbourne for a few years now. They are all powered by small four stroke gas engines. I do not use then anymore because of the laws regarding the low power output, 200 or 300 watts here. I was putting out 1100 watts, thought I'd stop using them before I got fined or sued (in the case of injuring somebody). What are the laws like in Perth?
G'day Mate...Yes the 200watt law is a bitch ain't it so inadequate makes all the sub 49cc ilegal even a "de-tuned" 49cc Gina Gurl 2 stroke pumps out ~500watt ...Laws Federal thing so all states are under the same 200watt law mate fortunately the electric bikes have the "stealth" element and tend to stay under the radar more than the ICE powered bikes...cheers for the positive feedback... :-)
I don't know why the power limit is so low at 200 watt, I measured my pedal power in the gym and hit over 800 watts for a few seconds using my arms and legs. 200 watt will give about 20mph and 800 watt will give just over 30 on a bicycle.

Anywayz...best of luck with your own project charliemor3...
I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing what you did; only I'm trying to work out the details first. Any hints you would care to pass on would be greatly appreciated. I'm able to use a cane for short distances; but, I can only go about 150 feet at a time this trike will help get me around the place and allow me to save a bit of money by not buying gasoline. Who knows; we might start an avalanche of other concerned citizens who need a little extra motive power.
Best advice i could give you really would be to sign up on Endless Sphere Forum..if you need any help the members are always keen to chip in, other than that take it slow measure thrice cut once...best of luck buddy...
... I shall be doing another video in coming weeks when i have installed the 'new' motor AND... i also have a set of 20x4.25 rims/tyres on route from ChoppersUS for the trike should REALLY improve the look with some decent tires hanging off the rear of her hehe..
Thanks for the positive comments fellas. The trike is going well, new motor on route BIG thanks to FrankG at theworkshopCA for this. Jeff, i believe you might be the fella that also requires my thanks for the stepper motors and controller Frank has sent? If so THANKYOU very much, i shall do my utmost to get a working CNC Mill up and running and get back into some metal casting :-)
Awesome job. I wonder if you would be interested in a different kind of "transport". I think it would be great if there was a way to roll your chair up onto a platform (of an electric trike), which would have a much longer distance. It just seems like a pain in the ass (pardon the pun) to get off of one, and onto another.
