Sport karate appears to emphasizes speed to the detriment of power. Notice how closed off their stances are making strong side strikes ineffectively slow. Looks like over 90% of these guys' strikes come from the lead leg/arm. Rear leg kicks mostly won't land b/c of teh stance (unless a spin or back kick). Compare this to a Thai fighter. Their stances are much more squared and most of their kicks come from the rear leg AND they bring fight-stopping power, but are usually a bit slower.
how is point fighting silly? some of the best full contact fighters come from karate or point fighting, teaches to see openings and to close the gap, there are alot of point fighters that cant fight full contact i will admit but its not silly, it serves its purpose when utilized right
Robbie <3 best fighter i kno, glad were friends :) such a great guy !
