Thanks for the vid, I got an old 1930 Standard Oil truck and a Wayne visible cylinder pump so I would really love to build a replica station. What a time to have lived in.....
J D do you remember the old Moter Courts on route 66 ect I barely remember the Courts. There are still a lot of old places in our small town, would be fun to buy one and fix it up!
I wish those little gasoline stations were still around.....FULL SERVICE....something that doesn't exist anymore. And back then, at least you could understand the person behind the counter you were speaking with....nowadays, you need a Berlitz book everytime you go get some gasoline. :-)
try to deliver gas in new jersey and say hi to them i drive for exxon in newjersey and i just walk buy them cause its not worth it to say anything being that they dont understand very upsetting
Ah the memories of days gone by - we've gone down US 66 many times from Chicago (where I'm from) to California. Things have progressed since but I think they've actually regressed - all convenience stores with a fast food attitude, no customer service and no personality anymore.
I've traveled that route and it is a shame no one will see the likes of these again. Once the interstate hits an area, everything folds and moves closer to the exit ramps. That little town with all the local flavor becomes just another pit stop.
That's why I travel US routes (and many times state and county if they seem viable) when I travel on service calls. Too many people in too big of a hurry never get to see the real America they live in from the parkways and interstates.
god video JD thanks!! alot

In New Jersey, you cannot pump your own gas. The attendant however, usually does not speak English. Makes for an interesting fill up.

Gas Stations, "Greasy Spoons" and the "Mom and Pop" Motels made traveling much more fun than nowadays...
