@ImUrtastyflava sure why not? fans suck air in the back and blow it out the front, basic consept. think of how a window fan works thats basically what you would be doing.
Great collection! You sure know a lot about these fans. Do you have an emotional connection to them? If so, your collection would be great for our current Open Call with Antiques Roadshow. Come to our page, and watch our video for more information.
thanks! they get pricy! but you can find some antique 6" fans cheaper! the polarcubs "tend" to be noisy sometimes but the ge's are prettyquiet as far as 6" fans go.
yes sir they are only 6inch diameter (circumference) each and they put out a very powerfull breeze especially for their tiny size! they are more powerfull than any new 6inch fans i know of. thanks it is a neat hobby. i also collect old farm equiptment!
you got it! i just got a fan in the mail and im working on puting it together but i promice ill get back to you. if you send me the vid that will speed things up!
this was my first vid! i now have 1 more of these and only need one more to complete the set! they are extreamly powerful despite their tiny size! they will easily put a modern 6" fan to shame! i love antique fans! i often sleep with my 1918 12" ge brass bladed type AUU non oscillating fan! the $65 i payed for it was well worth every penny and i will prove that in some of my vids to come keep your eye on my channel! maybe well draw you into collecting them to! they really work awsome!
That's a heck of an excited comment, heh. They're cool old motors. new ones suck. They just can't build things like they used to. and I'm subscribed so I won't miss anything haha :P
Purdy neet! Looks like you have lots of fans! :0) Were do you find old fans like that? ebay? Is there any specialty replacement parts place you go to if you have to replace an important working component or?
i find them all over i think i have around 50 or so! people give them to me i shop ebay antique stores garage sales flea markets every where! parts i only know of a couple places. cords are easy but anything else you have to know where to look!
shore you can make some diced fingers to go with the melted bearing soup that someone else is making me. btw this was my fist utube vid ever the big #1
"cool" (pun intended) I love the little 5" and 6" fans. unfortunately, the 2 I have vibrate a bit so they kinda "walk" I would imagine they had some kinda cloth or felt on the bottom originally that has long since rotted away(1921 year model or so) I plan on taking them both the AFCA meeting this year(I get a lot of freebes every year it seems also-the 6" all black with the green decal on the motor was a freebe, and it runs better than the brass blade 6" that I gave $40 for!
my small ge fans sometimes have a tendency to walk also i just use a small piece of rubber or some rug gripper you know the stuff you put under small rugs to stop them from sliding it works great
have you ever done any fan repair yourself? its amazing how many have rotten wires and thats the part I hate worse(unless its one I can fix without soldering...I hate soldering!) also, I hate painting- I always spray it on too thick and it runs. Have you ever run one of the 6" fans all night? sorry for all the questions
sorry i tooks so long to answer. i have repaced the cords on many of my fans these 6" onse are a challenge with almost no extra room to work with in the motor housing. i like to keep my fans looking original so i only do light touch up. i have not yet repainted a fan but i have painted oter stuff i own im no pro at painting either just ok. i have not run a 6" fan all night but i do run them for hours at a time. but i run old fans allnight all the time, my 1950's ge's and a 1956? vornado.
Forgot to mention i have a working victor with six aluminum blades and a rusty but trusty Vornado which runs all night every night i love it just wis i could post some vids of them:(
thanks! I collect mainly GE fans i also have a GE twin winow fan like yours mylesgifford123 with it's original box and window mounting frame! i have 2 westinghouses from 1922, I have a wizard 1100J cobweb cage, 1 six" actic "really a rebaged polar cub" ,A Trico vaccume fan a 1930's 10" Robbins and Myers
now do theses fans preform good enough ?
and could it be used to take are in rather then cooling :P ?
thanks god video ~

@ImUrtastyflava they work pretty good but i wouldent want to use them for very long. they tend to get smelly after awhile and can be kind of loud.

ow awesome , sorry about the spelling mistakes i kinda fail at typing in the morning :P
well im building a project and i was wondering if i could get my own 20 inch blades or so .. i only need the blades
i'd like to make a cooling system and use 6 blades to take air in not blowing it out ! thanks
