  • @TheGazovbd4 this seems very effective.

  • @bigglyguy of course he's an idiot for riding without any lights, i bet he wears all black clothing and no reflective gear either :-|

  • @buddhistcamel

    Thanks, you spotted that huh?

  • Why don't you put some lights on your bike, then people would see you and not cross in front of you? Just a thought...

  • @bigglyguy

Hmm, two headlights weren't enough for this bloke. So I've added a third to my helmet.

  • lookOUUTTTTTT

  • Lmao that poor guy will have nightmares!! lol he must have been like wtf talking horns lmao

  • LOOK OUT! IM GOING 7 MILES AN HOUR AND MY BITCHY ASS MAY HIT YOU ON MY TRICYCLE! "squeek squeek"

  • @61themax61 actually it looks to be much faster than that and a collision could seriously injure both parties.

  • @61themax61 what the hell

  • Thats the reason i never ride my bike on the road or buy a motorcycle because you become invisible on the road

  • Lol why not say something a bit sooner. I always give a little yell if someone is toeing a crossing and hasn't noticed me coming

  • @23jamesdixon

Although he wanted to, he didn't look like he would cross until he saw the other pedestrian step out and so like a sheep, he followed when it was almost too late.

  • @MistrzKubica

    A very good question!

  • god your shout made me laugh :D

  • @NAVMEIST3R

Hitting people who are carelessly crossing the road with your bike is not a funny matter. I hope this bloke learned to take more care in future.

  • @kmcyc i didnt mean hitting them was funny they were completely stupid to not pay any attention to the road but your shout made me laugh

  • @NAVMEIST3R

Fair enough, fair enough. My response was perhaps a bit strong sorry about that. I've been unfortunate enough to hit a pedestrian who didn't check the road properly and at some speed. It was not a pleasant experience for either of us and was the incident that prompted me to start using a camera.

  • @kmcyc no worries i didnt take it to offence or anything but i understand where you were coming from about it not being funny, never hit anybody myself and pray i dont

  • @kmcyc I completely agree with @NAVMEIST3R made me laugh so hard gonna watch it for a 3rd time now ;D that was as good as my air horn brilliant!!!! Stay Safe mate coz I've been there not good for u or ur bike! I more care about my bike hehehe quite a beauty & covered in reflective tape is my daily dose of pride & joy! BTW what camera are u using?

  • @ElegantlyWasted04

Thanks. No, crashing into anything is not good for you or your bike, crashing into somebody else is particularly bad as two people will be laying in the road injured. Glad you like my warning shout, it's good to know my voice rival's your air horn. It's quicker to give a shout too and keeps your hands free for the brakes. This was filmed on a MiniDV but these days I use a Veho Muvi. Go look on Amazon.

  • I support your shouting in this occasion. You must have given this guy quite a scare that would keep him warm for a while and I can hope that he wouldn't do the same mistake again.

  • @lesdeth12

Thanks. I would hope this moment caused him to take more care when crossing the roads in future too.

  • Although you guys sometimes drive like idiots on these bikes.. I do feel sorry for bikers some times.. Its like some people are just blind for bikes!! Like they are not capable of seeing them.. Strange. There is to litlle respect for bikes..

  • @dipstick3031

Thanks for your comment, I think folks believe that because cyclists don't have an engine to power them, that they cannot go so fast; that they can stop instantly; and that it won't hurt if there is a collision. Perhaps these are the reasons why cyclists aren't always given enough respect?

  • @kmcyc Must be something like that yes.. In adition there are just a lot of dumb people on the world.. Its almost scary.. I don't know what some people are thinking.. Or maybe they don't think at all?

  • hahaha

  • Shat himself lol.

  • Typical pedestrian lemming like behaviour.

  • should be slowing up...y

  • @pondhall

I see a pedestrian waiting for the light to change, I see a green light, for what reason should I think they are about to step into my path? And hence for what reason should I slow and perhaps run the risk of being hit from behind by riding unpredictably?

  • beep beep*

  • I could imagine that you had a good laugh at him after screaming "LOOK OUT!!!" like that.

  • @spscotto

Not really. I don't find it funny when this happens. It doesn't have to be much closer before both of us get hurt.

  • @kmcyc I suppose you're right, I didn't mean to sound insensitive- however, the fact that you two are okay made it seem a bit funny at how badly you scared him.

  • @spscotto

That's ok, you didn't sound insensitive but I don't take delight from others' mistakes, knowing full well that I'm just as prone to making them myself. Only, when you're on a bike and a mistake is made by either party, it often leads to some injuries.

FYI the incident that got me filming my rides was when a pedestrian stepped out and I hit them at 20mph. I was thrown over the bars and into the path of oncoming traffic; they cracked their head on the kerb. No joke, believe me.

  • @kmcyc yikes!

  • @kmcyc Now THAT must have been funny.

  • @bigbingham

No. I was launched into the air to come crashing down on my head, destroying my helmet and landing in the centre line with oncoming traffic at my feet; the pedestrian in her late 40's/early 50's was lying in the gutter with a suspected fractured skull. The road was closed as for the police accident investigation unit to gather evidence and my bike was impounded for roadworthy checks. Looking back, even now I fail to see any humour in that.

  • bing bing l0ll!

  • Nice horn :)

  • @scottbrodiebam

    Thanks! :)

  • haha this makes a change, pedestrian going through red light and nearly causing an accident; 1, bicycle going through red light and nearly causing an accident; 7,600,891

  • @MattTheOak Not really, happens all the time. Sometimes they eyeball you coming and just do it anyway; idiots are idiots whether on foot, a bike or in a car.

  • @ct1p5 your honestly saying just as many cars go through red lights as bicycles?

  • @MattTheOak No, I was saying that some peds happily wander through traffic, some (most actually) drivers habitually stop in the bike areas at lights (technically a 6 point offence) or turn left over bikes, and some cyclists serenely sail through red lights. They're all idiots. Just that when car/lorry drivers are idiots then people die. Not a single person died from being hit by a bike last year, despite all the red light jumping.

  • @ct1p5 Ive ridden a motorbike for two years now and can honestly say I have NEVER seen a ped pull up to a red light then go straight through it.

  • this is the whitechapel/mile end road isnt it? cycle this a lot :D

do hate it though when peds dont look ffffuu

  • @fergie232

Yes, that's the place. A popular route for many cyclists. All too many people cross the road without "due care and attention"...

  • SPICEHUT IS NEAR HERE!!!!!!

  • very very close, luckily he didn't get hit

  • LOOK OUT!!!!!

  • sounded like brian blessed hhahaha

  • She got away cleanly? clearly you are FAR too polite, whenever I get some moron pedestrian doing the "it's got wheels so it's a car and has to slow" I stick out my arm as a go past (claiming to be indicating) and smack them if they're close enough. With luck, they learn to treat cyclists with a little more respect. If I have to cycle on the road, I'll damn well be treated like a goddamn motorist

  • @melhupby

Tempting as it is, I prefer to keep my hands to myself! ;) Riding through London there are just so many people, lights, crossing, cars, etc that by the law of averages things are bound to happen. If you give in and react to each and every one, not only would it take forever to get anywhere but you would only ever be in a foul mood at best. I don't curse at other road users any more, gave that habit up years ago. Let them know you are there and just get on with it as best you can.

  • did the cyclist have lights on?

  • @jacmar44

Ah, you know, that's what it was. At the time I only had TWO headlights. Perhaps now I've added a 3rd, I might have been seen? You can clearly see the pool of light on the road from my main headlight. The 2nd light is smaller but flashes to gain more attention. My new light is helmet mounted and also flashing so it flashes where I'm looking. Oh and I wear fluorescent luminous hi-viz gear. But all of this comes to naught if people don't bother to look before stepping into the road.

  • @kmcyc chillax , Im a cyclist myself , I was just asking.

  • @jacmar44

Ah, so you'll understand then what it is like when you go to all the bother and expense of kitting yourself out with lights and hi-viz gear only for someone to step into your path without even bothering to look. You did make me wonder though if my 3rd headlight might have made a difference in this case. It has been very effective in similar moments and I'd like to think that it may have attracted enough attention here.

  • Some pedestrians beleive if they don´t hear a car coming it´s fine to step in the road without looking. This along with car doors opening unexpectably are very ´popular´.I always tell myself no pedestrian can see you & it´s possible all car doors will open on you.But is it possible to be prepared for everything?

  • @MrShortieleeroy yeah, we've got to raise the bar, not judge those who fail. Because they're obviously stupid and incompetent. So we should be charitable to them. Poor dumb idiots. Be nice, give them a sweet smile and a wave. Show them the way.

  • you need to use your bell. the shout was acceptable, but you went get these issues if you are audible

  • @cyclingheroify LOL, I think we have a troll.

The shout was just fine, probably quicker than a bell. The only problem here is the pedestrian relying on his hearing and not looking before crossing the road. Had that been an electric car, he would have been flat.

  • @CyclingMikey I believe in Audibility. Try it. Problem solved. Let's create civility on the streets. look at the video "power of the bike bell". Bell power.

  • @cyclingheroify

Nice video but all the people in it are trained to react to that sound by instinctively moving out of the way. Not so here. See "Not Saved By The Bell" watch?v=grv7N_BAdR0 and tell me how many people took notice of my approach while ringing the bell. Experience has shown me that shouting gets better results in urgent situations, although I do use the bell when approaching places where I know folks habitually cross without looking.

  • @kmcyc we can make the change! Older people still understand. Most of those people were aware of you. Even the last woman saw you and then pretended she didn't, but did jump out the way. She was doing the classic ped technique from countries with multilane urban traffic jams. she was pretending not to c u in order to cross at her convenience, requiring u to slow down. Grr. Anti-social that is. She needs to be assimilated.

  • @cyclingheroify You should ring your bell all the time? That's not such a crazy idea, I have a mate who has a bell that tinkles continuously as he rides.

OTOH you sound like you're suggesting use of the bell like most drivers use their horns. Sadly cyclists seem to use their bells the same way, in a "get out of my way".

Let's be frank here though. The only problem here is the pedestrian crossing and not looking. *That's* what needs to be fixed.

  • @CyclingMikey the bell is for pre-warning, to make aware. That's the way it should be. But, yeah, if they scare me, they get the "aargh, hhheey! Moof! Arr!". The thing is peds always have priority. That's the way the law works. We need to politely assimilate the outlanders to the ways of london.

  • @cyclingheroify That sounds a little better. What you were saying earlier sounded to me like "Get the *BELL* out of my way". No different from a rude driver and his horn.

  • @cyclingheroify "power of the bike bell" is this video? rtv2_-2mHck

If so, what you're suggesting is most definitely inappropriate use of the bell in the UK. That's not how to treat pedestrians. Yes, I accept it's a bit of humour to show just how well people are trained to respond to bells in Japan, but people won't respond to a bell like that in this country.

  • monkey see, monkey do. people are sheep.

  • Love it when you shouted at him, I do the same

  • Lmao what a nob end!

  • Blimey that was close!

  • This happens so much with other stationary traffic. defiantly something to keep an eye on.

  • @gaz545

Yes, I'm sure the stopped line of cars contributed to him thinking it was safe to cross. A common mistake.

  • @gaz545 something to use your bell on
