I hope this would answer some of the queries:

Here OM = Opera mini.

1.Opera has proxy servers which first de-encrypt n then re-encrypt the web pages in a way which compresses the size of the webpage n makes it fit for a mobile outlay.

This is why its so fast.

2. OM uses a JAVAME platform (which implies)==>> your mobile has to support JAVAME apps. right.

3. If u do not have opera mini on your cell phone and you install it on your phone with your standard mobile browser it wont cost anything.

4 (a). Now if u have an unlimited internet subs. on your phone, web surfing using the OM or not using the OM is free.

4 (b). If u do not have an unlimited subs. it is not free BUT it would certainly be cheaper using OM since the pages are compressed.

4 (c). If u are in the US u have most probably got unlimited internet access.

and thus it is free. I am not. I am an Indian. For the rest of the world I do not know.

I have the Samsung A737 and the MEdiaNet browser worked ok and the download service did too, but then I downloaded Opera Mini and after a day it started saying connection failure in the AT&T Mall and in Opera Mini. The phone's 3G or EDGE symbol would disappear even though before it had 4 bars of 3G. I then deleted Opera Mini and turned off and on my phone. Still no luck on MEdiaNet. I then attempted this after hard resetting the phone. Still no luck. If anyone knows anything please tell me!

i love opera mini on my phone...it can display texts smaller but still readable which makes reading more easy because it lessens scrolling.. but in the future versions, it would be better if it can save browsed pages on your phone so you dont have to download it again and it can open other html or text files downloaded from PC. Also if you have the option to download a particular picture from the page.

If you're using a smartphone or a Palm Pilot (or any kind of PDA), you can't view YouTube through Opera because there's no flash, but there are programs that bypass the flash and stream the flv files directly (which is the same way the iPhone does it, I'm pretty sure). The only catch is you're not doing it through Opera.

I watched the iPhone video on Apple's website, and I couldn't help but notice that there was nothing the iPhone could do that my TX couldn't do, excluding the phone features (only because the TX isn't a phone, and I'm guessing that the Treo, which is a phone, can do EVERYTHING the iPhone can). The iphone kicks opera minis ass, mainly down to the multi touch screen.
