  • Mike... as always...GREAT!!!

It´s a pity for me that I live in Buenos Aires... I would love to meet you, attend to one of your clinics and learn a lot more from you (...and I am a golf pro for more than thirty two years now...)

    Thanks again!!!

  • I just wanted to know what you have achieved in Golf ? Such as tournaments ?

  • Sevam thanks! I am about a 25 h/c and hit my drives around 235 day in and day out. Last year I was in a tourny and on hole 10 I hit a drive that felt incrdible and went about 280. I knew it had something to do with a different feeling I had in my right foot but could never identify it nor replicate it. You pinpointed it for me! I can't wait to get to the range and find it with the thoughts you expressed! thanks again

  • I love the new wedge rules. No more bombing it down there as far and possible and pitching from the rough with no penalty. Their spin will be 50% reduced this year in 2010. Tiger spent the most time in the right rough last year of anyone. It will be harder now Tiger.

  • mattyco1234, what is your problem? post a video here then of your own "near-perfect" swing for us to see. Maybe we can learn from it too or maybe you are too greedy to share your "wisdom" with the rest of us?

  • i have three videos posted. they've been up for like 3 months each.

  • well i cant comment personally about whether mechanics or simply making your swing are more important because my swing is bordering on perfection at the moment, but it seems as though there are a lot of swings on tour that have terrible mechanics, yet because they trust their motion, they can hit quality golf shots.

  • I hope that your perfect swing never stops being perfect and I wish you all the best in whatever you hope to achieve in golf. There are a lot of swings on tour that do not look perfect but achieve great things because they satisfy certain fundamentals and above all and most importantly they repeat. If you can repeat it and it supplies sufficient power then you can play with it. I want to help people to find the path to something with sufficient power that will repeat. Then they too can play.

  • you can have the same mechanics that ben hogan had and still hit terrible golf shots. if you make a scared swing because there is ob right, you will hit a duck hook even with perfect mechanics. believe me I KNOW. so everybody here STOP looking for some mechanical breakthrough, it will never happen. to get better, become very good at trusting your swing and making a solid, confident swing on every shot. that is the secret to golf, not the position of your fucking elbow or the cupping of your rist

  • @mattyco1234 right on brotha

  • ugly!!!! i find it hilarious that you guys pretend theres some secret to the golf swing. theres no secret, its not about the mechanics. sevam1, you have to agree on this point: whether you have good mechanics or not, the most important thing in playing good golf is to make a confident and aggressive swing. whether that swing be like stewart cink (really steep downswing, not like hogan at all) or tiger, or any other swing. if you trust your swing, you can play well in tournaments.

  • I agree that confidence is important but not much of the rest of your philosophy.

I believe that the greatest confidence ultimately comes from knowing that you have developed a superior technique. You cannot fake confidence. It comes from more than just inner strength. Confidence grows with each and every mechanical breakthrough. Try things, test things and put them into play. What holds up under pressure has value. Technical and mental breakthroughs are like hand and glove.

  • than explain to me how there are so many players on tour that have unique and in your eye "mechanically bad" golf swing. and dont say short game, because thats only part of it, you still have to be able to hit the ball really really well on tour obviously. all of these guys are miles ahead of your game, and a lot of them dont apply any of these secrets to their golf swings.

  • First of all if tour pro's didn't think that ballstriking and what I have to say in general was worthy of consideration then I don't think that they would give me the time of day and yet they do.

Also, why would I not mention short game? It is half of the game no matter how good or bad you are tee to green.

I will add that modern equipment is letting a lot of guys get away with a great deal. Be prepared, however, for ballstriking to return to importance next year when the grooves change.

  • Love the tempo of your swings.. good to see the swing over and over so we can get a good picture of it in our minds without all the talk from cameraman, although I love the discussions you have about golf

  • Why do you keep your left foot on the ground in the backswing when players like ben hogan bobby jones sam snead and jack nicklaus rolled or lifted their left foot??

  • I don't want to lose the feel of where I will be heading to as I move through the ball and towards the target. I keep the connection there so that I land on the left foot the same way with the greatest frequency I can.

  • Hi, great videos first of all. Secondly, I was wondering if you knew anything about or would have an opinion about Julius Boros and his wilson clubs? Im using old lynxs and a johnny miller pw. I've been playing golf for 5 years now and learned mostly through watching others but saw my greatest leap after reading/studying the 5 Fundamentals. Been swinging my pw inside while watching your videos but have yet to hit outside. Hopefully this is another leap in improvement. Thanks!

  • I don't know anything about Julius Boros' equipment, but I do love what I have seen of his swing.

  • Ended up getting a used set of 1972 Apex Classic.

  • Mike i would like to ask what ben hogan irons you use to be your favorite? I was thinking of switching over to some.

  • My favourites are the 1969 Bounce Sole 1+ model. They are nearly identical to the 1967 Percussion model but with some bounce which makes them perform better on softer turf. These are the precursor to the first Apex models which were also great.

  • Where would the best place to find them in sets?

  • I'm 17 years old and i love you're swing, but my dad is a little skeptical. I'm trying to convince him to incorporate a few of your fundamentals. Do you think you could maybe give me a few tips on starting out with this swing?

  • I don't like the word "tip" but the place to start is Ben Hogan's 5 Lessons The Modern Fundamentals of Golf!!!

  • I watch this video and usually "the move part 2" before every round. Amazing!!! I'm a 10 handicap but my highest 9 hole score since watching your videos and reading the ebook is a 43. Shot my all time low 18 hole score of 74 on a par 71 and have been once again hitting my driver 315 yards down the pipe. Thank you!! (found your vids 3 weeks ago FYI)

  • That clears up a lot of the confusion...

    Thanks for the answer Mike!

  • HI Sevam!

What is the idea behind having your clubs bent open? If you want to hit em straight you still have to have the blade square, so whats the point? Im sure its a stupid question but it puzzles me.

  • It is not a stupid question. Bending the club open and flat changes the balance of the club. It makes it more difficult to square. If you want to get aggressive with the hands and arms but not hook it can help. It is not for everybody. If you have trouble squaring it already which is like most people, then it is not something to think about.

  • Swinging as good as ever. I am feeling sleepy though and I have the urge to wear flannel and move north!

  • Looking great Mike your swinging in a lighter body I see aya.....the results are showing up wonderfully in your swing. Looking effortless.....So much great info out there Sevan1 Martinez and Lag

  • Thanks Mike, how about a similiar one from DTL and also a back right off center position?

    Cheers :)

  • I'm hearing the strike of the ball before your club gets to the ball. Lots of frames dropping out.

  • Looking good, Mike. The latest update in your e-book was awesome. Actually helped this 'TGM'er' out a lot with the lag being about maintaining 'pressure' not angles. I never looked at it like maintaining angles, but maintaining pressure is a bit of a twist on an old concept for me that works. Now it's part of my swing thought and the ballstriking is much better for it.

  • Snap your fingers, I need to wake up!
