A possible answer to the eating Crono question: It does a percentage of your max HP perhaps, but it is a variable number? I did a bit of calculating, and it has dealt between 50-60% of the victim's max HP with each eating. It's just a guess, I'm not really sure.
Yea, many rpg's have monsters/boss's that deal damage based on a percentage of a characters hp so that they are difficult at any level. But sometimes it has the reverse effect where monsters are actually easier or chearper to deal with at low hp levels.
