I remember I used to watch and play a lot of tennis during Becker-Edberg-Lendl era, it was magic, really. I loved tennis, loved so much. Then Pay TV comes and it's been almost impossibile to follow... i miss those summer afternoons spent watching roland garros, wimbledon and us open with my cousin, magic... i was 17, magic. Tnx to those amazing players
I was crazy for Becker. Used to fight my parents for allowing me to watch his late night matches, esp. at Wimbledons. Still like to watch tennis, but that craze ended with Becker's retirement.
Same for me: I never put my alarm clock for Stich or anyone else, only Becker´s matches in Australia or the US during my school time kept me up! :D I loved him at his big points and I loved him even more when he sweared with himself or the net or referee "rüüüber" rüüüber! giiibs nich! jesus christ! kanns nich geben! stell dich doch nicht immer so an beim aufschlag, meeensch meensch meeensch" hahaha!
I love "Boom Boom Pecker." He is one of the greatest serve and volley players of all time, and is a legend of the game. I miss his passion for the sport.
Boris Becker is still the GREATEST to ever play the game.........he played with heart and courage..........he put it all on the line.........something you dont see in today's game with boring drones like Federer and Nadal.
So you seriously want to tell us that nowadays tennis is free of emotions? How do you explain Federer's emotional moment after the AO? Or Nadal pumping himself up in special moments. I think today's tennis era is definitely as exciting as anything that has taken place in the past. Every era should be given the credit it deserves. Just saying...
@Manjixx i think what he means is... it was more about the play/tactics endurance... where as nowdays its more power more speed.....less time for more interesting points... i think todays tennis is equally great... but the olden tennis had something unique... the sampress, agassi, becker, connor days xD
thanks for posting this..........this is truly the most vivid point in my memory of all points in the history of the game.........brins back memories of some unique times in my life........JAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tennis misses variation today and personality. The last big personalities to go were Ivanisevic, Agassi, Safin...
Becker was such an exciting player, absolutely terrific.
