How To Train A Bichon Frise

I luckily found and adopted a Bichon Frise from our local humaine society about two years ago. Poor Starbuck had been returned by two previous owners to that shelter. Sometimes he whines a lot when he goes for a ride in the car, but I think that is because he's not sure if he is going to be returned once again to the shelter. That will never happen. This family, especially my grandaughters, think he is the greatest dog on earth!

i have a bichon frise/maltezer mix. About the brown stuff arround the eyes, we were clipping it regular in the past and it never helped.

the last years we leave the hair arround the eyes on a length that it is just covering the eyes (like with a sheep dog) and it stopped, its now nice and white arround the eyes.

at times there can be a little drop, but i have to agree with RawFedSkye, much also depends on the food given to the dog.

My Bichon used to have tear stains (the brown stuff around their eyes) but I changed his diet to raw mixed with The Honest Kitchen and it totally got rid of his tear stains! He has beautiful white hair around his eyes now.

About this video....This guy is good! He's smart and knows how to train. Wish I could meet him in person!

The Honest Kitchen sells mostly in the U.S. but they do have some distributors in Canada, if you look up their website, you might be able to find a store near you that can at least order it in. I was feeding "Keen" and mixed raw in it. Then I switched to all RAW. I think RAW is best and it is what cleans up the red yeast infection that makes the staining on the Bichon face and other white dogs' faces.

@RawFedSkye NICE! My Grandma had Bichon. His name was Pookie. He wasn't 100% trained but he was a very good dog. He's really old now, but still has a great spirit and keeps my grandma happy.

Regarding the brown stuff around the eye, when mine was a pup I bought all the stuff in the pet store and it never worked so I'd just clip the hair off. Now that he's older, it doesn't happen anymore so maybe he grew out of it.

i have 2 bichon frise' one is 8 years old, but still is fit as a fiddle and the other i got 3 weeks ago for my birthday shes 12 weeks old now and loves to lick people ahha when we first got the neew one hettie ( the 8 year old) wasnt to impressed and basically ignored sissy (puppy) but eventually there kinda like sisters now and always love to have "knaring" fights with their teeth mind this was only play fighting come watch them play on my page was the first time they played together :')

Yeah bichons are really good dogs.

had mine about 18 months now.

Its simple to keep the stuff out their eye.

The is some lotion that you buy from the pet store.

Doesnt cost much and you just rub it into the fur around their eye's.

to keep the brown out of his eyes just take out the little "rocks" in his eyes every day with youjr nail

I do this just about daily. My Ziggy doesn't have any brown at all and everyone always asks how Ziggy is so clean around his eyes. =)

Your Right. I Have A bichon and so many people when i'm walking him go aww look at that Poodle! He hates having his Tail, Paws, Tummy Ect brushed. He lets me do his back thats about it! they also said he was kc registerd He wasn't we don't mind though. they put alot of teardrops in his eyes and he get big chunks of brown gunk under his eyes all the timedo you know how to get rid of them?

My bichion does that too. It's really common in the breed, and called The Bichion Buzz. We just call it buzzing.
