Reno Air Races - view from the Pylons

Stead was an Air Force base not an Army base. I should know, we live there. It is no longer used by the Air force. Private planes, National guards.

@coabg it was a pocket style camera made in 2002. If you recall the technology at that time wasn't "HD", and it was hard enough to try to find a camera that could take stills and video.

I have been camping out at the races on the North end of the airport off of Red Rock Rd.. It is the very best seat, and FREE. Sometimes a little too close to the action. A crash at the start of a T6 race back about 93 almost killed us too. I'am 50 now and have been going out there every year since I was 12. My wife and I love the desert(with our camper) and look forward to it in Sept.. I have seen many pilots lose their lives doing something they love. Very sad when it happens.
