Take a look at 0:47. You can see engine number 2 in reverse thrust and you get a glimpse at engine number 4 too. If you look closely I think number 4 has reverse thrust too. So that's why I said engine 1 is out. Not an experts opinion, but I think symmetry could have been kept with some minor skills by the pilot.
This was not emergency landing, The PIA did a go around cause one of the land Gear came on while on finale and pilot decide go around. Ask by atc if PIA was declaring emergency land or normal, the pilot request a normal landing. fire trucks only came out cause the PIA did a go around due to the Land Gear.

The Outer Most engine (the one towards the video maker) didnt show up the reverse thrust. If you carefully see the neighbouring engine (after having touched down) outer cover splits for reverse thrust (something normal) while the other duznt do that.
The pilots do not use the reverse thrust for the outer engines on both the wings in a B747, iof u have watch other vides on youtube u will notice that. The plane landed normally, I don't know why the emergency was for though, maybe some technical issues, since the B747s which PIA has havebeen aging since the 70s. But PIA has aquired new B777s and will acquire A340s and A350s in near future to replca ethe aging B747s
Not to sure if the runway at manchester is a longer one than sydney airport but all 747,s that land ther always use all 4 reverse thrusters on landing.The only plane i have seen not use all 4 r/t is the A380 and its bigger than the 747.Still to find out why this is but i am sure there is a reason.
Most 747s have 4 Reverse Thrusters, which are all individually controllable.
Probably not necessary for this situation.
The a380 was initally not going to have reverse thrusters because the braking system was sufficient, but the FAA made them.
So they included them in engines 2 & 3 (inner engines), because the outer engines are positioned close to the edges of the runway, and the could suck in debris.
Also i don't think that this was a real emergency. He could taxi back to the gate AND if something was wrong with the plane wouldn't emergency vechicles be at the plane?
please watch the reverse thrust...not all engines are working,the outer most engine is not used in barking,may be its a engine falmout or something...but thats not a normal landing

because if the aircraft stopped half way down the runway then the fire engines have to drive to it which wastes time but if they r behind then can just follow and set up straight away as the aircraft stops. its a big time saver.

Well let a Pakistani tell you the Problem evident from Video...
The Outer Most engine (the one towards the video maker) didnt show up the reverse thrust. If you carefully see the neighbouring engine (after having touched down) outer cover splits for reverse thrust (something normal) while the other duznt do that.
Its PIA which raised up 5 International Airlines

The pilots do not use the reverse thrust for the outer engines on both the wings in a B747, iof u have watch other vides on youtube u will notice that. The plane landed normally, I don't know why the emergency was for though, maybe some technical issues, since the B747s which PIA has havebeen aging since the 70s. But PIA has aquired new B777s and will acquire A340s and A350s in near future to replca ethe aging B747s

Not to sure if the runway at manchester is a longer one than sydney airport but all 747,s that land ther always use all 4 reverse thrusters on landing.The only plane i have seen not use all 4 r/t is the A380 and its bigger than the 747.Still to find out why this is but i am sure there is a reason.

Most 747s have 4 Reverse Thrusters, which are all individually controllable.
Probably not necessary for this situation.
The a380 was initally not going to have reverse thrusters because the braking system was sufficient, but the FAA made them.
So they included them in engines 2 & 3 (inner engines), because the outer engines are positioned close to the edges of the runway, and the could suck in debris.
Yeah, I love the a380 lol.

what a bloody embarassment to us...Our airline is known for producing some of the most skilled pilots --but we need to hurry up and privatize our airline so that there will be more money. The mechanics are underpaid so maintenance is sub-standard. Many of our PIA air-crafts are not allowed anymore in EU --and i dont blame this new rule.

actually Ali PIA fly a daily service to and from EGCC :] (i think its daily) but they only send the modern aircraft such as the 777-200/300. but i must say the PIA colours (not the ones on this video) but the current ones are very very nice!
