  • WTF? What happened to Mary? Why was she placed "in the hands of juvenile auhorities"? She got pregnant?

  • Comment removed

  • Robert sounds like every other typical jelouse douch bag.

  • yes girls look out for old gays

  • 6:37 Holy crap! 23-cent hamburgers!

  • Similarly, today many Christians condemn single mothers when it is the father who abandoned the child.

  • @twinstar9 Actually its society that condemns single mothers, it was the nuns who traditionally took in unwed mothers and helped them through their pregnancies.

  • Nothing happened to the boy - he could stay in school but the girl was forced to adopt her baby out- no choice.

  • the policewoman has 'manhands'

  • So did Mar get preggers or what? They didn't say!

  • @WIDESIDE72 in the 50s, "getting into trouble" meant getting preggers....they werent allowed to say pregnant on tv

  • @Beelzebub130213 Filmstrip. This wasn't shown on tv.

  • Notice Robert IS NOT a litter bug, though. He threw his trash ion the proper receptacle.

  • Barbar amde a mistake in saying she was baby sitting and expecting a call from her parents.

  • I am going to avoid New Jersey- apparently Inglewood isn't safe.

  • It was the generation that made this video that is responsible for why America is so fucked up. Fuck the Women's lib movement. Irony: I'm a woman.

  • Don't go off with strangers, don't answer the door to strangers when you're home alone, don't let yourself be pressured into anything you're not comfortable with... Sounds pretty relevant to me.

  • That was creepy . . . Wtf?

  • This video was fantastic.

  • @tstlkevanilla - thanks!

  • my left ear is getting a little lonely.

  • all boys want sex...we get it

  • Good advice, still relevant today. Every girl should watch this when she is 12 or 13 (when she still listens, ha ha).

  • well, screw you bob!

  • This is actually very relevant for today! Don't we constantly warn our daughters about internet use? Don't give out personal information etc.? I see nothing wrong with this warning.

  • sally is a whore

  • Tragic!

  • Bitch wanted it!

  • oooooooooooomg.

this is soo ***ed up.poor '50girls!

    btw...I didn't get the last one :/

  • @laFubina7 @thedudenetwork I feel like at the end, the boy pressured her to "grow up" too quickly and she got pregnant. Back then, girls were taken out of school if they got pregnant because it would shame the family.

  • @CassidythePrincess that's it!getting pregnant was a huuuge scandal back in the days...now it's even worst in a way..I can just imagine old ppl's (parents in the'50) reactions while watching programs like "16 and pregnant" with their grandchildren :O

  • @laFubina7 people who were parents in the 1950s are nowadays more likely to be looking over their shoulder incase death sneaks up on them.

  • These women all turned out to be stone butch lezzies. One grew up to be Rosie, the other Ellen.

  • wait, wtf happend at the end?

  • @docrw How to protect yourself from marriage? How about JUST NOT GETTING MARRIED?

  • @msanniemc People want to be married and shouldn't be screwed for doing so. I feel for "docrw" having to go thru that. Many men have been used and abused by women and courts facilitate this abuse.

  • What have I learned? Cell phones save lives.

  • Poor Mary. had to go to a home for unwed mothers. gave her baby up for adoption.

  • i never understand why films or songs that deal with sobering issues have such jaunty tunes ( examples; this film, CCr's song "bad moon rising", etc.)

  • Bob is a Nonce, and Mary is a slut. The End!

  • A policewoman in the '50s! How progressive :D

  • oooops she got into trouble?

  • women got raped in the 50s? wow i thought i heard everything!

  • Wow! twenty-three cents for a hamburger. Love that corny jazzy music playing in the background.

  • The posts by the Lezbo's on here are hilarious! LMFAO!

  • The best part of this film is the musical soundtrack. Where can I get a copy?

  • So... if a woman follows this advice she's a man-hater, and if she doesn't she's naive and was asking for it? *confused*

  • Anyone remember when you dialed zero for help instead of 911?

  • America: where we teach girls to avoid getting raped, as opposed to teaching boys not to rape.

  • @kittyprydex America: Where we have perverts, pedophiles, and the internet where they prey on young girls. Please tell me, seriously, how do you "teach" a rapist not to rape? America: Where most young men grow up to be nice, polite, good people, but because of the few bad ones, we must warn our daughters to be careful...then and now.

  • @jenisacutiepie there are more rapes in the USA than in my own country, which shows socialisation of boys works. You have to teach boys not to do it. But anyway USA is a violent, racist, sexist country, so it may take decades for men to change.

  • @Tuckercrew Well, I don't know what country you are in, and I certainly don't know where you get your "statistics", but could it be that there are "more" rapes in the US because there are more PEOPLE in the US? As for sexist....have you never been to a Latino country? Obviously not. I knew an Italian woman who LOVED American men because of how kind and respectful (and monogamous) to women they are for the most part. Obviously this is a generalization, but it's a nice one.

  • @jenisacutiepie its percentually, so how many people live in a country doesnt matter. Italy might be more sexist than USA, Ive been to Italy many times, very sexist country, macho culture.

  • @kittyprydex Yes, because if a man doesn't get that its wrong to rape a woman on his own, you can teach that.

    What nonsense.

Only in America do we think a problem that has existed since the dawn of time can be solved by "teaching it to be wrong". What arrogant stupidity.

  • @zappbrannigan420 I dont agree, why in other countries are there less women raped (or more for that matter?) seems to me its something that can be influenced. Its great to teach boys not to rape, and besides most rape is from intimate partners. I think you are arrogant by suggesting its on the women to prevent from being raped and give men freeway to do so as they cant be socialized to not do it. Its stupidity 100%

  • @Tuckercrew Which countries, because I can find you examples of countries with both a higher and lower academic performance than the US, with a higher propensity of rape than the US. Society already has its education methods for dealing with rape - prison. Thats the reason its there kid.

Furthermore, I never suggested rape was the propensity of either gender - you did, don't foist your own intolerant nonsense on me. I find it shocking that you even suggest such.

  • @zappbrannigan420 kid? Im 40 years old lol, what arrogance you show. Prison is not an education method, prison tells us its too late, and that something missed before. You teach kids in school, parenting, healthy peers etc. I live in a country where rape rate is half of that of USA higher education, overall more affluent than USA (northern Europe) less violent, less sexist, more equality for women. Boys need to be taught women are human beings, thats all.

  • @Tuckercrew Hm. Interesting how you chose to only include "northern Europe", when Europe as a whole is a better comparison to the US (population size--- varying economies from state to state, country to country). I can tell you right now, eastern Europe doesn't make Europe look good by a long shot. I know Scandinavians think they're the cream of the crop, but they largely live in a bubbled society.

This is a poverty issue. No amount of education is going to help until the former is addressed.

  • "The nature of men hasn't changed?" Ooohhh kay... Somehow we're weak-willed "yes dear" pushovers and slavering potential rapists? Most of this stuff is common sense these days. I could go on about how cultural values were on a rapidly-changing precipice in those days, but I won't. Anyway, thanks to this sort of paranoia-mongering, most guys are labeled as devious scumbags with dubious intent right out the gate. Congratulations. Maybe we should go back to arranged marriages?

  • While there is a lot of good educational stuff in this video, the problem I have with it is it makes it seem that all guys are stalking, sex maniacs who resort to violence to get their way. That is absolutely not true. I remember one time I asked a woman out (we were both in our early 20's). She politely declined and I was like "okay." Then, about 1/2 hour later, a cop showed up at my apartment saying he was investigating the "veracity of a harassment complaint" (????). Totally crazy!

  • That last comment was @ chuggachuggawoowoo

  • What im saying is women back then were more restriced to house work and kids. They had almost no rights and had to follow men's orders. Today women are more aware of rape and can prevent it more. True, some women do rape men/boys and act like sluts but women back then couldnt take classes or fight as well becuase men found it wrong.

  • "Do you think telling a rapist not to rape girls will stop him?" (from a previous post) No, or perhaps even perhaps, but do you think trying to convince girls that all men are rapists will stop them from having sex before marriage? Which is the real message of this 60 plus year old clip.

  • I'm really confused. Most of these posts are meant to be attempts at sarcastic humor, right?

  • Are you out of your effing mind? Or is the description in your post a joke? As for the wack-a-doodle comments implying that this is any way instructive. . . Are you out of your effing mind? Anyone who's ever dated a Catholic girl, or who was born after 1960, knows this kind of BS is actually counter productive. Don't trust anything with a penis? (Hadra568 comment.) Really? How about don't trust anything that is such obvious bullshit.

  • this my friend is why i'm a lesbian.

    trolololol

  • @theyoungzebra im lesbo to lets be frinz :D lol jk

  • i love how the camera awkwardly moves to the sky at 9:10 after they start making out

  • is it me or does the woman at the start look like John Travolta?

  • @stragoth hahhaha shes a policewoman! whatever that means! (50s style joke) heh

  • The policewoman looks like John Travolta in drag.

  • I do support the points they are making here, because it is all too easy for a girl to be oblivious and impractical when it comes to these sorts of situations, but like other people have commented, this film puts men out to be rapists, which obviously isn't true.. Its just another form of Ad i suppose, but at least it probably scared a few girls out there into thinking before they get all these rides home with older guys.. Interesting way of doing though

  • Robert has asbergers....give that boy some medication.

  • @IansMagickOak "83% of all the rapes in the US happen to men" where did you get these statistics from? Also, I am a masculist as well as a feminist and very, very much against the trivialisation of male rape, so saying that all women are the same on this issue is just stupid.

  • girls wouldn't have to be so careful if there wasn't sick minded creeps out there not manly enough to treat girls like women and respect us !... seriously they think is was bad back then, look at how things are now!..what happened to chivalry and being a gentleman...(btw I'm not talking about all guys...some of them are men)

  • @EmilyAnneDavis14 You're right, but there ARE sick-minded creeps that don't know how to act like real men. That's why girls have to be careful.

  • @chuggachuggawoowoo exactly, its sad isn't it ...

  • The problem is we always tell girls to change...but no one ever (even today) blames the man!...WTF is up with that!

  • what the hell is going on with police officer "Norma Neufner" aka closet lesbian's lower lip?

  • Judy didn't have good judgment, therefore, she deserved to be murdered. Way to blame the victim. These propaganda videos are a huge part of why our society's so messed up today.

  • Why do the parents wait until midnight to call the cops?

  • What have we learned here today? Don't trust anything with a penis.

  • @Hadra568 Intimate partner violence is more common among homosexual women.

  • @barccy

True, but that's not the message of this particular video.

  • @Hadra568 oh i learned that a long time ago..

  • My name uncles old babysitter's name was Judith Miller. Weird.

  • Of course this lesson rings true today! Even more so, with the age of the internet! Thanks for uploading this.

  • Judy Miller is the name of an actual murder victim, one of the Hillside Strangler's victims.

  • Too bad women back then were restrained to cleaning and kids. The girls werent taught properly how to fight becuase of stuffy parents so they got raped more. Nowadays a man tries to rape, you can kick him in the nuts, gouge his eyes, pepper spary, etc. Back then all girls knew were; spongecake, friends and malt shops

  • @SMoshFreak456 women carry pepper spray, men carry guns. And also have 20 percent muscle mass. And can also use the same cheap tactics in a fight.

  • @SMoshFreak456 yeah...you watch too much television if you believe what you wrote. Actually, your stupidity is amusing. Thanks for the laugh

  • In the very first scene her face looks almost identical to Travolta's. They could be twins.

  • How can anyone believe men are to protect women if they pose some much of a a threat to women at the same time. Most rapes are done by family/husbands/boyfriends/male friend/ men women know well, yet these are the men this video says women must trust. Essentially, women can't trust any man. Stranger or not. In the end, that only produces prejudice, because not all men are evil. This video is nothing but a two edged sword of gender hate.

  • @KryssySushi you have a point there

  • janet2buns, I sure beats killing the baby in an abortion, leaving the woman (if she has a conscience) with the regret of it, the rest of her life.

  • I am a man, and I agree with the top comments. There are not enough expletives in the languages on this planets to describe how much crap this "film" is.

  • I meant planet... s key sticks sometimes.

  • @nigeriababygirl: "In trouble" is 50's speak for pregnant. She probably got sent to a home for unwed mothers, sort've a boarding house where your parents would stash you until after the baby was born and they could put it up for adoption.

  • Wait I dont understand the problem

with the exception of the last video (why did she get put under juvie watch for dating an older boy?)

    this isnt a sexist message

Women should talke all precautions to protect themselves, no one it saying it is their fault for getting raped or murdered (and its certainly not a result of them exhibiting "independent behavior")

But not having common sense leads to disaster

Seriously, who goes home with 2 strange boys?

This video was simply trying to warn girls.

  • This IS still the attitude of too many people, I know I've seen it and heard it. Rape is the fault of the person who rapes - period.

  • @1964nickel :applause:

  • They need to stop telling girls this and start telling boys not to rape girls!

  • @LilyMoth12 I agree completely.

  • So how does she end up in Juvee for dating an older man?

  • @maidwithluv Because she got knocked up without being married I would assume. I love how this movie portrays that one character that said: "The older I get they stay the same age."

  • Another excellent example of how society tells women "don't get raped" instead of telling men "don't rape."

  • @Hersoftestsoul You are such a dumbass. Don't get raped by a man. Don't get shot by a man. Criminals are pieces of crap who seek out a weak person. Never trust anyone you do not know. Be alert. Have a plan. Fuk up anyone that tries to hurt you.

  • @MrObamaisCarter Yeah, except the vast majority of rapes are committed by people the victims know. Having a plan and being alert aren't always foolproof, and there are going to be people who can overpower me. If people didn't rape people there wouldn't be a problem.

  • @Hersoftestsoul Bang on.

  • @Hersoftestsoul you can't change a man's superiority complex, not as long as patriarchy exists the only behavior you can change is you own. And it is very applicable to take precautions for women at any age.

  • @FineWeAre Translation: "I hate men as much as you do."

  • @Hersoftestsoul ... Are you really this stupid? Do you think telling a man who would rape women NOT to rape women will make a difference? He's going to do it anyway. That's why you have to teach girls not to put themselves in a dangerous situation. It's common sense...something you obviously lack.

  • @chuggachuggawoowoo Actually, yes. Telling people that rape is WRONG and is the fault of the rapist would decrease rape victims' shame and encourage them to report rapists.

  • @Hersoftestsoul ... Translation: "I'm a brainwashed young woman who hates men and accepts no responsibility for anything I do. Everything is the fault of men. Even if I hitchhike in the middle of the night and get into a car with a complete stranger, if he rapes me, I accept no responsibility for putting myself in a dangerous situation. Nothing is my fault."

  • @chuggachuggawoowoo Translation: "I'm still living in the 19th century and think that only women are rape victims, only men are rapists, and only forcible rape exists."

  • @Hersoftestsoul You must really hate men so much that you are blind to reality. I've never met such a hate-filled stupid girl/woman in my life. You should be a lesbian so you don't have to deal with men ever again...or maybe you are a lesbian already.

  • @Hersoftestsoul Hey,.let's use your idea to stop crime. We'll just tell all of those nasty rapists and other criminals that they shouldn't do what they do because it's wrong. Then they'll stop raping and killing people, and the world will be a paradise. I don't know why no one ever thought of your solution before. You're a genius.

  • @chuggachuggawoowoo Do victims of non-sexual violence, robbery or other theft get shamed and called gleeful dirty epithets implying that they deserved everything that they got? No they fucking don't

  • @Hersoftestsoul This is a crime prevention film, you idiot. It tells you how to avoid putting yourself in a position to be a victim of a crime. What is wrong with that?

  • @CatapultYourMom But if it taught people not to commit crimes in the first place, would it not also be a "crime prevention film"? That claim is irrelevant.

  • @Hersoftestsoul What planet do you live on? Criminals are not going to watch a film and say, "Oh, darn! I didn't know I shouldn't commit crimes! I'll stop right now."

  • @Hersoftestsoul You must be about 14 yrs old. I can't believe what a stupid statement that is. It's a film to help girls AVOID being rape victims, you idiot. Do you think telling a rapist not to rape girls will stop him? Are you really this stupid?

  • @CatapultYourMom You're wasting your time...she's a brainwashed teenager who has been taught to hate men.

  • @Hersoftestsoul Telling people they are responsible for their own safety is blaming the victim. Rapists will stop raping if some ads are loosely distributed, just like shooters will stop rampaging because of small signs prohibiting weapons at the front door.

  • @Hersoftestsoul Men will rape just like women will murder. People need to be careful because bad people will not change. They will always exist.

  • hey thanks for givin the pervs some great ideas

  • The world is MUCH more dangerous today as it was then, this stuff is even MORE important now. There seems to be a misconception about this video; you can be the most responsible person in the world and still get into trouble.

    Caution never hurts,

  • STILL very applicable for today.

  • @dartter50 lol what?

  • @silasandsheba It's old, but it is still very applicable to girls these days

  • Blondes may have more fun...but they also get tag-teamed date raped...

  • A truly good hearted man with no ill intention wouldn't think less of a woman for keeping her guard up, those who would had something less than honorable in mind for her anyway...

  • I'm flattered by the attention of an older boy...I just noticed thAt...

  • I am completely in the "Not All Men are Evil" camp. And I hate that films like these shed that kind of light on men in general. But while warning women and young girls against these kinds of situations is good, what is being done to defer this kind of behavior in men? What messages are men receiving about not becoming these kinds of "dangerous" predators?

  • Outdated. Endy Story.

  • why do these parents wait till midnight to call the cops? lol

  • Thank God soda shops are extinct and movie theaters have stopped incorporating intermissions into their showings. If they were still around, I'd have to live in fear of rape and impregnation by an older boy!

On a less sarcastic note, however, sexual predators only benefit from people like "rosaryfilms". Don't point at the basketball players and call the warning "common sense"; beware of the moonwalking bear.

Google the reference if you don't get it, genius.

  • God bless all the amazing men out there who are not like that!

  • @TheWWEfangirl John Cena sucks.

  • this video can help me !! <3

  • Still applies people!!!!!! And more so!! There are more creeps out there today than in the 50's. And talk about trusting strangers: Facebook anyone? Do you really know all 974 of your "friends"?

  • this aint the fifties.that "woman cop" is a youngish john travolta.

  • @reevedavey OMFG it IS!!

  • we are all animals and, therefore, want to fuck each other.how society can stop or engineer restraints to stop the nuts in our midst is a problem too weighty for my feeble mind.sally,s hot aint she guys?

  • @tazz77.right on.its layin down a cool groove there.

  • excellent.the moral?marry young and stay at home in the kitchen!you,re safe there and cant hurt yourselves too easily!take heed gels!

  • Comment removed

  • i love how some older ppl like to act like "in my day, (insert crime here) didn't happen".....there have ALWAYS been sick and dangerous ppl. and you must always be careful no matter where you are or what time period. this film is on point

  • now its called craigslist

  • @AIntellectualRedneck most likely it was for her to be sent to special school for wayward children, or to marry the man, but enrollment in a special school is most likely.

  • TACOS?! FOR 25 CENTS!? I NEED TO LIVE IN THE 50s.

  • @moonshadowmarie i know right! at least to go eat, then i can transport back and forth to the present as needed

  • @miamivicepastels83 I WOULD STUFF MY FACE WITH EVERY FOOD POSSIBLE. XDD

  • @moonshadowmarie and be so full. or come back and sell the food at 50% markup

  • @moonshadowmarie That 25 cents in 1961 is the equivalent of $1.80 in today's money. Not such a great deal, is it?

  • I have seen these VERY SAME VIGNETTES (in terms of plot, not characters) in another PSA recently on YouTube -- this one narrated by a male "detective".Sid Davis is recycling content here. BTW, gotta get me some skirt. And I'm a man.

  • The following statement comes from a GUY:

I find nothing sexist about this video. For a 50's PSA, its not exaggerated at all from what commonly happens in this day in age; naive young girls dealing with pedophiles and rapists. If anything, this PSA is pretty "pg" and sugar coated compared to the extremes of the present. But since this was intended for kids, I can see why they'd water down the graphic consequences.

  • Why was she taken out of school?

  • @weirdandlazy1 maybe or they sent to a school for wayward children.

  • @weirdandlazy1 because she got pregnant

  • @weirdandlazy1 I think she got pregnant and had to go to a special internment center for pregnant teens. Back then, unwed pregnancy was deeply taboo and having a daughter get pregnant was a large mark of shame for parents, so they often sent their girls to pregnancy camps where they could finish their pregnancies in privacy. This happened into the early 90's I think.
