Illinois must have the ideal conditions to produce definitely-formed tornadoes because it seems that most of the videos of these in this state turn out fairly ominous and destructive. The one you caught here is spooky and large.
We had an EF4 tornado here around my area of Toledo, Ohio about a month ago. Milbury, Ohio looks like a war zone...it's very sad. This is a great video. Hugs from Toledo, Ohio!!!
@dxforme999 Im from Lancaster, PA. (Pronounced Lane-kiss-ster) Everyone from outta state calls it "Lan-Cass-Ster" which is its true pronunciation but our Pennsylvania dutch accents make it sound different.
I work not far from there. I saw that pass directly over the building. It was funny to me because I saw the updraft starting to spawn well past us and then the alert to take cover came 20 minutes after.
This is classic. You can see an inflow tail, clear slot, rotation...I'm not surprised this wall cloud produced a tornado. BTW...I miss Dave Murray...our cable company dropped KTVI.
Usually, when there's a refresh in a tornado warning, the sirens will reactivate for the new warning. So, the sirens probably did activate before the tornado.
We had sirens, but they didn't go off until after the tornado had passed. Or possibly they went off during the tornado, while I was in the basement, and I just didn't hear them.
ALSO, what would be really cool is if you put this in a basic movie editing program, and sped it up 2x, maybe even 4x. It really shows off the storm-scale processes, such as the clear slot wrapping in, and the wet RFD wrapping around the circulation, and the intense upward motion in the wall cloud just prior to tornado-genesis.
GORGEOUS wall cloud. Nice motion, with the textbook RFD/clear slot wrapping this circulation up, and ultimately producing a nasty tornado. 5 stars. NOW GET YOUR KIDS IN THE BASEMENT!!!

LoL...if you speed it up by dragging the slider between 5:00 and 6:15, you can see the rotation and updrafts beneath the cloud.

Awesome storm structure! Look at the rear flank downdraft on that at 1:00. Very photogenic storm. Good catch!

What towns in ILL have no Tornado Sirens or did you loose power and that why no sirens sounding?

You can hear one going off in my 'Tornado Damage' video, which I filmed after coming out of the basement, well after the tornado had passed.
