The Vietnamese Communist flag is one of the ugliest, most uninspiring, plain flag in the world. It doesn't have any esthetic appeal to it. How come communist flag are so damn ugly? Just red and star. They need to throw in some national characteristic that people understand. No everyone in the country is communist or have communist ideology. China flag too, throw in some Chinese characteristics. There wasn't a whole lot of honor in the way that the North Vietnamese government insisted on barging into the South half, invading and occupying a sovereign nation. And I have seen American troops on parade plenty- they do not appear the way you describe them.
South Viet Nam (aka. Republic of Viet Nam) was an illegally established country. The geneva accord never stated that Viet Nam was supposed to be split into two "sovereign nation". A sovereign nation is Viet Nam as one as it has been for over 1000 years.
Vietnam, like Korea, was to be briefly occupied by the United States and the Soviet Union, prior to elections which would unify each country. Of course, the two superpowers completely different goals and governments resulted in the elections being held separately if at all, and the communist half of both nations assaulting the lower half simply because they wanted to.
Every Vietnamese people knows that if the election had been held, Uncle Ho would have won most votes. That's why the south government rebelled and started a war instead.
Even if the ROV started it (which I don't believe) Ho Chi Minh decided to keep going, rarely ever even considering trying to talk it out. The entire war saw the North Vietnamese attacking the South Vietnamese because, hey, you can never get enough of communism. I can respect Ho Chi Minh for his accomplishments as a Vietnamese nationalist, but not as a communist.

I don't believe that. The South Vietnamese, at best, were the half that truly believed in a free, democratic Vietnam- some of the ARVN's finest generals are a good example of that. The 18th Division's last stand was for the ROV, for free Vietnam. The NVA were and are the true oppressors, who launched a needless campaign of aggression against the ROV and never once had interest in diplomacy or peace.

The fact remains, though, that the North Koreans were supportive of Ho Chi Minh's half of the country, though I have heard that has changed over the years, as Vietnam moved away from the kind of communism that the DPRK uses and favors. From what I hear, Vietnam today is more free and democratic than ever, but overseas Vietnamese still hold great bitterness towards the Hanoi government.
There is a janitor at my school who served in the ARVN, and he's easily one of the friendliest, most talented and intelligent people I've ever met. Yet his family, so I have heard, is still in Vietnam, and he was captured in 1975 and sent to a re-education camp, something Hanoi did to a lot of South Vietnamese civilians and soldiers. When they let him go, he joined thousands of others in saying "no thanks" to Hanoi and leaving.

If the Vietnamese government really wants to heal all the terrible wounds left by the war on both sides, Hanoi must drop restrictions it has on the icons and ideals of the ROV. It is still illegal to fly the flag of the ROV in Vietnam today, and I'm sure that isn't all there is to it. The overseas Vietnamese won't give up on the ROV and what it stood for, and they can't go back to Vietnam, or won't, because of their support for the Saigon government.
You should stop trolling on youtube spewing shit and pick up some good book about Vietnam. For starter, read "A Bright Shining Lie" by Neil Sheehan. This book has won Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award, THEN you may know a little bit about what kind government and army that HALF of the South had.

But I do not recall making such a statement. This is very much about what I believe. After all, history is indeed written by the victor. The Vietnamese Communist flag is one of the ugliest, most uninspiring, plain flag in the world. It doesn't have any esthetic appeal to it. How come communist flag are so damn ugly? Just red and star. They need to throw in some national characteristic that people understand. No everyone in the country is communist or have communist ideology. China flag too, throw in some Chinese characteristics. Communist have the ugliest flag. The soviet flag is ugly, now the russian flag is much better.

There wasn't a whole lot of honor in the way that the North Vietnamese government insisted on barging into the South half, invading and occupying a sovereign nation. And I have seen American troops on parade plenty- they do not appear the way you describe them.

South Viet Nam (aka. Republic of Viet Nam) was an illegally established country. The geneva accord never stated that Viet Nam was supposed to be split into two "sovereign nation". A sovereign nation is Viet Nam as one as it has been for over 1000 years.

Vietnam, like Korea, was to be briefly occupied by the United States and the Soviet Union, prior to elections which would unify each country. Of course, the two superpowers completely different goals and governments resulted in the elections being held separately if at all, and the communist half of both nations assaulting the lower half simply because they wanted to.

Even if the ROV started it (which I don't believe) Ho Chi Minh decided to keep going, rarely ever even considering trying to talk it out. The entire war saw the North Vietnamese attacking the South Vietnamese because, hey, you can never get enough of communism. I can respect Ho Chi Minh for his accomplishments as a Vietnamese nationalist, but not as a communist.

Anyway, they were defeated because they were a puppet government what conspired with the US against Communism. They were not supported by Vietnamese people, even South people. That's the reason why the south government with modern weapons supplied by the US lost the war.
Communist party is the only government that all Vietnamese have chosen to lead our nation.
Who can understand the government by its citizens? so think carefully before you speak.

I don't believe that. The South Vietnamese, at best, were the half that truly believed in a free, democratic Vietnam- some of the ARVN's finest generals are a good example of that. The 18th Division's last stand was for the ROV, for free Vietnam. The NVA were and are the true oppressors, who launched a needless campaign of aggression against the ROV and never once had interest in diplomacy or peace.

That's something we can agree on. The fact remains, though, that the North Koreans were supportive of Ho Chi Minh's half of the country, though I have heard that has changed over the years, as Vietnam moved away from the kind of communism that the DPRK uses and favors. From what I hear, Vietnam today is more free and democratic than ever, but overseas Vietnamese still hold great bitterness towards the Hanoi government.

There is a janitor at my school who served in the ARVN, and he's easily one of the friendliest, most talented and intelligent people I've ever met. Yet his family, so I have heard, is still in Vietnam, and he was captured in 1975 and sent to a re-education camp, something Hanoi did to a lot of South Vietnamese civilians and soldiers. When they let him go, he joined thousands of others in saying "no thanks" to Hanoi and leaving.

If the Vietnamese government really wants to heal all the terrible wounds left by the war on both sides, Hanoi must drop restrictions it has on the icons and ideals of the ROV. It is still illegal to fly the flag of the ROV in Vietnam today, and I'm sure that isn't all there is to it. The overseas Vietnamese won't give up on the ROV and what it stood for, and they can't go back to Vietnam, or won't, because of their support for the Saigon government.

This book has won Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award, THEN you may know a little bit about what kind government and army that HALF of the South had.

Vietnam is a beautiful nation with a distinct identity and culture worth protecting, but freedom and democracy are the way of the future- communism is no longer that, if it ever was. Vietnam should look to neighbors like the Republic of Korea for guidance as it moves forward.
