Haha everytime I watch that part of the muppet movie I really laugh aloud I didn't even know that was Paul Williams wearing a hat he is deffinately a fantastic piano player
Paul Williams is da man he is still going srong now and he is 70 years old and his voice is the same he even looks the same other than he dont got the blond hair any more
holy crap if i can download this version of the song and put it on my mp3 player i will be doing the jazz fingers and truckin' all day long!!!!! OBSESSION WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@LandoftheShanks If you want to dowload this just get the realaudio program (free) then using the real audio convertion software (free) convert the downloaded file directly over to mp3. Easy. I hope this helps...Airdropper.
I was a kid when this episode aired. I remember laughing so hard when the muppet look-a-likes burst out of the radio. How absolutely perfect.
I always thought Paul Williams and John Denver were two of the best guest starts on this show. Their looks and personalities were already so muppet like, they just blended in so well.
I don't know why, but Paul Williams has always had the scary charm to him. It was perfect however for his role in Phantom of the Paradise, and he even played the hilarious role of little enos in Smokey and the Bandit.
It must be great to be him. To be a great song writer. Appear on THE MUPPET SHOW! Play on dexter's lab 2 times XD! AND PLAY THE PENGUIN! Daaaaang man!
It seems to me that I met him at a party in the early '70s, but didn't place who he was. I'm pretty sure he gave his name as Paul Williams, and I had the feeling I should know him, but what he talked about was writing a screenplay. We had a bit of a discussion on how to handle dialog. The person I met certainly looked like a younger version ot this Paul Williams.
@anton1990 You have that sooo right! and Constantly forgotten even in the string of hits of his that are recorded by others! He also wrote all the music for the Muppet Movie!
Truly a brilliant artist. He wrote and performed so many beautiful songs, "Save me a dream", "Traveling boy", "Won't last a day without you", "Old Souls", "What would they say", and so on. "Waking up alone" is one of my favorites.
@anton1990 There is two different versions of Waking up Alone, one is a wee bit faster and the thing is, nearly impossible to find, it was on some pressings of 'Classics'! Had a copy and can't get another, one i had was lost in a fire. But if you do find it, find a way to upload it! PLEASE!

4:48, I remember this happening to me while on acid on at least three occasions. Oh, and I remember an episode of The Odd Couple, where Felix's daughter was obsessed with Paul Williams, and Oscar reminded him: "Well at least she's not following Alice Cooper" - who subsequently appeared on the Muppet show shortly thereafter. Shortly. Paul Williams. That's kinda funny.
I really like paul williams as ed in the night they saved christmas noone ever says any things about that movie but he was wonderful in that movie he even wrote some of the music in that movie
That was all I knew him from until I got this on boxset and then I was like..I KNOW HIM! lol The night they saved christmas is a classic and I have it on dvd now! ^_^
Akane: Yeah. Paul Williams is not only the El Sleezo piano player in The Muppet Movie and a guest in this episode of The Muppet Show, but he wrote The Rainbow Connection for Kermit!
That's weird. Iv'e never seen a backstage scene cut into Kermit introducing the show at the beggining. I guess things were a little Rusty during Season 1 of TMS.
"ALL OF ME" with a monster whatnot giving Miss Kitty his body parts in a box. And to LincolnHeights, this is how the show opened during Season 1, Season 2 onwards used the opening with the arches we're most familiar with.
