  • Hey I found this video on accident, but I find it really educational. I actually never really knew the importance of foreground til now. :D

  • helpful video guys. I think I've unconsciously understood that. But it was nice to have it explained.

    Cheers.

  • @dapoirierinc

Yeah I unconciously knew that also. Never really understood it though.

  • Thank you. Dammit, I wish I had viewed this sooner. Ta.

  • peter men kind of looks like freddiew

  • I never knew how many different little things contribute to getting great footage. Sean, I'm confused, which one is your main account. Is it this one, or esoteric?

  • @FRANKYMOOK We have way more subscribers (as well as being accepted into the Partners program) on my personal account so we upload most things there. I doubt we'll upload anything to takezer0dotcom's account anymore.

  • you guys are AWESOME!

  • Thanksya (this is our other account, btw)

  • Remember -- Cinematography and editing go hand in hand...

  • Thanks guys. That was really helpful, I'm going to use that tip next film i make. Check out my new one if you want, It's a grammar project about my brother getting killed for listening to load music.

  • great tip guys

    thanks

  • lol

  • Great Advice. Thanks!

  • Nice video, nice drink, nice everything. I do think however that in many cases you have to also be careful with what you're putting into the frame and how much of it, it is taking. As with that shot with the trashcan. That frame was telling a story and the trashcan was dominating it. Leading the audience to believe (a) You were heading towards the trashcan and (b) to throw something away. Or at least that's how I diagnose it :]

  • But this is just being sketched out is all.

  • hey guys

that was proper useful, thanks! :D

    jubair

  • I didn't know that you guys had moved to this channel?

Anyway, shallow depth-of-field is not an esthetical solution but a way to guide the viewers eye, especially when you don't want the background to compete with the viewers attention.

Read about mis-en-scene to learn more about the "frame".

  • That's very true. Thanks!

We moved to this channel because we want to start branding ourselves a little more (and we just put a lot of effort into our website).

  • You're right; shallow focus isn't necessarily an aesthetic solution. But that doesn't stop a lot of Letus and Redrock users from abusing it. Adapters have opened up a new, almost fetishistic use of shallow focus in an effort to mimic film.

  • nice video guys

    but Sean next time

order melon with your passion tea

    its bomb

  • Haha, melon? Seriously? I usually get it with lemonade, but didn't this time for some reason.

  • by the way cool new intro on this video.

  • Sean, sent you a cmnt on twitter.

  • Replied on twitter :P

  • good vid!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Sweet! Foreground is something Ill take into consideration in the future. Wow, that hawk footage was crazy!

  • Yeah, it's such a quick and easy thing to add to your shots and it really makes quite a difference.
