  • ok..when do we see the completed thing..this is awesome

  • "There will be other wars..." Sad reality.

  • Is Buck Rogers wearing make up?

  • WW I WAS NOT FOUGHT FOR FREEDOM.....THE KAISER WAS HONORING A TREATY WITH AUSTRO-HUNGARY EMP...WHO WANTED TO TAKE CARE OF THE SERBS WHO MURDERED THIER ARCHDUKE..FRANCE SHOULD HAVE BUTTED OUT.....IRONICAlly enough..the kaiser wanted to create a united nations to help protect the little guy around the world..including the rights of people in colonial territories...guess which 2 powers didn't like that idea

  • This is like my 10th time seeing this and I'm still impressed!! It is so good to see Gil Gerard and Erin Gray work together again. Such great acting!!

  • Anyone know what happened to this? Did it ever actually get shot? Made available? All I ever see is this clip!

  • @cuttersboi08

I want to know too, even the official web site is kaputs, I get a error 404

  • If the plot device artists come up with a way for a world war one fighter pilot to be frozen for centuries and revived the disparity between the world he comes from to the one he ends up in will be even bigger than in the original where the hero "freezes to death" in 1987. What a trippy idea.

  • What is this from, an upcoming remake of Buck Rogers?

  • @Cavillier1970: A retro-update of the original COMIC STRIP, using all of the stuff from the comic strip (rayguns, rockets) instead of starfighters and turboblasters. You might want to read the original comic strips, if you can find them on BitTorrent.

  • Great vid but Buck's name is Anthony not Luke ...

  • @srb9 I have the book, I thought it was william?

  • I love this!!

  • oh this is so awesome..I just saw MS Gray at the Comic Expo in Calgary and man I immediately fell back in to my old high school crush days...and Im 46! The acting in this this was awesome

  • Did Tommy Wisoe direct this?

  • are they still doing this?

  • I want more too !!!!!! could it be poqible to watch it in France? they still look great!!!!!

  • I just started watching the original series on Netflix for old-times-sake. Glad to see that they are thinking about doing another series. I only hope that this gets picked up and goes to production. That would be G-R-E-A-T!

  • All kinds of Awesome...cannot not wait for more...Gil and Erin too? Happy Happy Joy Joy!

  • I hardly recognized Gil, but man, does Erin still look great, being almost 60yrs old. I'm very curious about this one!

  • I WANT MORE! Where's the rest!!!!

  • Nice job. When does the rest come out?

  • Is this going to be a tv series?

  • This kid reminds me of a young jeremy irons.

  • This looks fantastic! It looks like they are doing it the way it was in the original pulp?

  • GIl Gerard is sublime...

  • Beautifully written and executed! Can't wait for a full episode!

  • I think the radio reference is mistaken. Radio broadcasts really began in 1920/21. At this point radio messages, including the weather, news, etc., were in a few places tapped out in morse, radio as we know it didn't exist. They're getting World Wars 1&2 mixed up. Doesn't really matter.

  • @CBfrmcardiff Well, you had radio telegraphy in those days, just like the Titanic ship did. It might have been better if he had said "unwired telegraphy" reports insted.

  • @cabbievonpump: thanks for answering. As to the two royal houses though; which ones? Russia and Germany, or Austria and Serbia, or Britain and Germany, etc? It seems to trivialise the struggle. I suppose the important thing is, that yes, the Rogers' family could have seen it in that way.

  • This was great! 2 queries though. 1: ''radio reports'' in pre-1917... Were there? &was electricity wide spread in rural areas. 2: just a ''was between 2 royal families''; did people really say that? then why does it involve France? And what about the 5 imperial monarchies and several smaller ones (I can think of 5 smaller ones)involved in the war?

  • @CBfrmcardiff It WAS originally an argument between two Royal Houses that got out of hand, it's just most people only remember reading about Archduke Ferdinand's asassination (sp?). Plus, all of the mutual defense treaties Europe got into (the one's that George Washington warned us about 115 years earlier when he said "avoid entangling treaties.") The radio reports would've been heard at the General Store, not the house, that just about every town had (some did have electric generators).

  • lucas?.....how is that even close to william or buck?

  • @NickTies Good question since it was Anthony in the original pulp. :)

  • main guy kinda looks like robert pattinson

  • something familiar about the 2 actors there

  • of course now days, a lot of parents push thier kids into useless wars.

It is nice to see Gil and Erin settling into latter middle years(lol)-cute couple.

  • I hope we can all recognize that the only true moral path, and the path with the best outcome, is to stay out of other peoples' wars, unless there's some chance you'll be sidetracked to the distant future, banging hot space chicks.

  • ^_^ Good Luck, Buck!!!

  • The assassination caused war to be declared. Europe was a big tinderbox and the Archduke's assassination was the spark.

  • This is stynning. The old TV Buck Rogers (Gil Gerad) is the farher.... and the mother is Arin Gray (Wilma). Great, great.

  • Fantastic job.Look forward to the first episode.

  • @jonesingforsilver

    mee too

  • @allizee2 Rogers that! ;-)

  • WW1 started because Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot by a Serbian terrorist. They need to be historically accurate.

  • @PageMonster LOL this is based on the original buck rogers series ww1 had allready been passed this is the 20s... its called fantasy for a reason.

  • Ummm...How were we wrong not to side with a guy who wanted to take over the world? World dictators ALWAYS say they will make the world a better place- that's how they get allies- but they still just wan to take over the world. WWI was essentially a grudge match between cousins in a single royal family- W. Kaiser was cousin to George V. It was a battle for supremacy. Like 2 cousins fighting over a deceased grandparents house.

  • Is this series shelved? After all the fuss for 2 years then that's it? Oh well, the kid looks like The Joker anyways.

  • Like the scene but some of the dialogue sounds very familiar kinda like Luke Skywalker talking to his Uncle wanting to go off and fight with the rebels but is told stay on the farm.

  • i hope the new series has twiki

  • i look forward TO SEEING THIS MOVIE..BUT I GOTTA ADD SOME HISTORY HERE..WE WERE WRONG TO SIDE WITH THE FRENCH AND BRITISH....BECAUSE THE KAISER..WAS IRONICALLY TRYING TO CREATE A WORLD PEACE KEEPING FORCE (PRE UNITED NATIONS) THAT WOULD ENSURE THE RIGHTS OF ALL NEW EMERGING NATIONS...INCLUDING COLONIES..GUES WHICH EMPIRES DIDN'T WANT THAT

  • That was a good scene.

  • THAT was Erin Grey and Gil Gerard? Okay, this was awesome. Is this series out now? Dammit! Where do I get to see the full thing?

(Sorry about my language, Erin!) ^_^

  • to piggyback on what cabbievonbump said, this scene is being replayed in my family's home; i'm going back into the service, even though i already served my time and i'm finishing grad school and could make more money than ever before i want to put on the Uniform again because we are needed now more than ever.

  • It is so good to see Gil Gerard and Erin Grey again. This is such a great scene. And I'm glad to see Gil Gerard's Health improved. He looks great.

  • In a world where we have 300 million dollar movies and TV series in 1080p HD that are getting 300K an episode, online sci-fi just looks horrible in comparison. It's one thing to do a drama or whatever where you can just focus on the people and the storyline. But modern sci-fi is all about the effects. However, in a world where we watch people do chair dances on youtube, we will watch this as well.

  • @johnsarc And it's the belief that modern sci-fi is all about the effects that hasn't given us a worth-while big-budget sci-fi film in many years(And while I enjoyed it, I'm including Avatar in this). Sci-fi is about the stories and the characters, just like any other genre. So I suggest you stick with George Lucas if all you want is a big-budget effects spectacle with no depth or emotion. The rest of us will watch this gladly and judge it by it's actual merit.

  • @Tensen01 Actually, there is a difference between having ONLY special effects and a good balance between SFX and a good story. The same way that a good plot can be ruined by cheesy acting, extremely cheap props or bad editing, it can also be ruined by extremely crude SFX. Nice try in ASSuming that I'm into Star Wars but I actually never liked the story. I'm more of a Trek/BSG person and while sometimes the SFX aren't exactly up to par in some of those series, at least they are passable.

  • @johnsarc Really? Do you think that's the reason "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" was a flop? Or was it because they deterred too-much from the scenario found in the game it was named for? Personally, I think it was because it's CG-imagery pushed the beyond the preconceived boundaries of their concepts of what is real & what isn't. That, and they couldn't accept the concepts held in "Simone". I dig the need for comfortable grounding, but geez...

  • @Tensen01 I've read the original "Avatar" in grade-school, which is a short-story that dates back to the 50's. What they did is another example of "scraping the sides of the barrel", as I call it.

The basics of sci-fi are a story set in a scenario built around a concept, typically based upon a fairly-recent scientific finding, respectively. And since it is a story, like any story... whether when it's initially written or transformed into a cinema production, budget regardless...

  • @nickelindimer the final result depends upon the dynamic chemistry of the product (What-all is put into it!). And that, along with the timing of the release, is what makes a success. I say that last part in reflection of the timing of the release of "Spaceballs", which hit the screen well-after the final episode of SW was released & faded from most folks memories.

And as final note, the only film that in-contrast to what I stated makes a success surprising that was one was...

  • @nickelindimer "Smokey & The Bandit", in which every line heard was improv'd & came in 2nd in the box-office when released the same weekend as "Star Wars", which came in 1st-place. But gain, part of that was timing. Still, noted film great Alfred Hitchcock even admitted to it being one of his "guilty pleasures". Sure puts everything in perspective, huh?

  • Gil was right. Also Geo. Washington advised us to avoid foreign alliances. We should have let them Euro trash bastards kill each other off. Instead, we get our best and brightest get killed all over the world and for what?

  • More or less, this scene played/plays/will play out in every household whenever a son or daughter decides to put on The Uniform. Not quite verbatim, it happened when I joined the Navy in 1984. Mom cried then, and it was during peacetime.

  • So is this a web series or a real show?

  • wow erin and gil look great!!bless em.

  • @MINIMOTOMADNESS - They're obviously going back to Buck Rogers' roots rather than re - write the series altogether. I saw an Erin Gray interview where she mentioned a webisode, & I'm guessing this is it. Erin & Gil look great, even though Gil had health problems that nearly killed him.

  • That was neat. The original Buck Rogers was set in post World War 1, so neat to see this is taking the diesel-punk approach and putting it in that era. Gil and Erin... a nice touch like the Buster Crabb appearance in Gil's Buck Rogers. Awesome Awesome Awesome.... can't wait for this! And as for this scene, this might have seemed long, but it was just a teaser, I'm sure it will have music added and edited for better timing and presentation when this is finally edited.

  • @doctorclu Oh, to clarify, set in post world war 1 before Buck is trapped in a cave (or whatever) and sleeps for 500 years.

  • this is beyond awesome...Couldnt be good without Gil and Erin, nice twist and I really love how you have gone the back to the roots of the original Buck Rogers story.

  • He gives that trademark Gil Gerard smirk at 2:27.

  • My jaw just dropped, Erin Grays in this!!!

  • what I want to know is...will the new series have Twiggy?? beedy beedy beedy beedy

  • Gil Gerard and Erin Gray steal the scene--classy of the movie makers to include them as a nod to their place in Buck Rogers history. The new Buck's hairstyle and heavy makeup job (especially around the eyes and mouth) make him look like Larry Buster Crabbe in the black and white serials. Is that an attempt at camp or are they serious?

  • @bluestripetiger That is AWESOME. I didn't recognize them. Of course, I haven't watched the original (netflix) in quite a while. And I bet that makeup and sepia is only for the past scenes.

  • I can't believe it took me over a minute to recognize those two.

  • Lucas?

  • Awesome! I got to meet both Gil and Erin and they're just great! This has high potential. Great acting job, Erin!

  • make it darker.

  • @jetflock no... just no. everyone depressed whispering in the dark with shaking cameras like the new Battlestar? No thanks. How about his?.... make it fun.

  • @MentalRob

I know what you mean. I hate modern lighting myself. I just think it would hide certain limitations. I like the stuff these guys produce....I even like the cheese. But sometimes....its just too much cheese.

  • @jetflock Final color correction and balancing isn't complete in this scene. If memory serves, it was shot with a pretty open aperture because Mother Nature did not comply with our needs (a sunny day). It was VERY dark and gloomy out. The "sunlight" is being created by a Mole-Richardson Type 3081 burning in the pouring rain.

  • But when oh when is this going into production? Love it. Bobby Rice does such a fine job. I just want to see the 20 episodes promised...

  • @pamatthew99 Soon...

  • Why is there an entire page of stupid videos of chicks putting on eye makeup and we never see this? Way to go YouTube.

  • Their asking for donation until this Saturday. Im trying to work on my budget to help if I can, but it's tricky. Spread the word... I wanna see this too.

  • Why do we have to stumble upon this Cawley? I would have known nothing if I hadn't watched Phase II which I almost forgot about. Get the word out. This looks fantastic!!

  • This got my attension, I loved Buck Rogers

  • Wow... this is going to be completely fantastic!

  • Gil Gerard and Erin Gray also work together on Nuclear Hurricane (2007 TV movie)

  • It is good to seem them together again. Looks like a fun movie.

  • It was great to see Erin and Gil together again. I hope they will apear in the series every so often.

  • A fantastic scene... and with Gil and Erin together again !!!

  • @ChristyDaae Thanks Christy! The gang busted their butts on this one! It was pouring out for most of this scene.

A big shout out to the gang at Mole Richardson for making such virtually indestructible lights! The "sunlight" in these scenes are courtesy of one of their ancient beasts burning all day long in pouring rain...

  • Now if regular television productions could live up the the standards that the fan productions are doing now.

  • Is this from the same folks for ST Phase 2? If so, nice work all around.

I recently watched the STP2 episodes and noticed the progressive and marked improvement-- camera-work, acting, setting, etc.. Fairly impressive. (Remark on the cool planets blowing past in the ship's-vantage warp effect).

Love the "duotone" and acting here- spot-on- and fantastic to see all those reappearances too in both series.

Perhaps sometime soon, we may see a completely new concept, but I'm good for now. ;)

  • @Glomerol yes, yes it is... thanks from all of us for the compliments!

    Best,

    Rob

  • it is look to see you bobby , and I think you holding your own . just dont forget were it all started good job markII

  • @BEBACK1 LoL, anyone who's met Bobby would know he's one of the most down-to-earth people there is, and truly a genuine, real person. I doubt he'll ever forget where he's been during his trip to where he's going.

  • dude listen to your parents...

  • This is AWESOME!

  • Gotta love Gil and Erin 'together again', I once asked Gil why he never got together with Erin off stage, he said 'she was always married'!! Shame that they have limited appearance in this thing, sorry Bobby, but Gil and Erin were totally out shining you there mate!

  • Damm...GIL and ERIN nailed this scene...I so believed they were his parents...GIL you still got it bro, kick some ass...ERIN, thanks for the nice dreams when I was young..oh god now i'm getting an oedipus complex...lol....you two stay healthy and keep entertaining us.

  • @SONOFHERO52 Dude Col. Dearing was hot but I wanted Ardolla. A princess trumps a colonel.

  • @SONOFHERO52 I agree, great scene

  • ok biddy biddy wussup buck?

  • hell yeah this is gonna work gill and erin back one more time in the pilot as mum and dad i want more !!!!

  • when is this gonna happen???????????????

  • ohhhh i can't wait. plus hes kinda named after buster crabbe. i am a ginormous fan of all things buck rogers, flash gordan, captain kirk and even the british guys like dr. who and dan dare, this looks damn good.

  • Its great to see the original Buck and Wilma in the New Buck Rogers. They can still put on a good show. I look forward to the New one

  • Scary, first tme I've really seen these actors since the original buck rodgers - from youth to confin dodgers in the blink of an eye (wierd) but love em. Gills got the same expressions going on (cool)

  • Some of the comments here are like someone in 2050 complaining about the pointy eared guy in a Star Trek webseries. Really the retro Valvepunk version is the best way to go, as doing a typical 2010 sci-fi adventure and just calling the guy Buck Rogers is just more of the same old reheated pie

  • @BlackMariaDownUnder like Doctor Who, retooling a geek to be a nerd is no nerd.

  • I WANT MOARRRRR!!!! I can't wait. Really cool seeing Gil and Erin together again...A little retro sci fi...with meaning!

  • @archangel72367 I agree ! This is better than a lot of stuff currently airing. You nailed it - retro - sci fi... with meaning. Buck's dad is the pacifist ( and so is his mom ), & Buck is the young hothead who wants to be a pilot in the AF. I, too, want MORE webisodes ! PLEASE !!

  • "AWESOME", the talented people at Cawly Entertainment hae done it again , shown us all how to make good, engaging stories, and bring the passion back to the genre of "SCI FI" (I wish the "BIG WIGS" at the networks , like the network that 'used to be named after the genre would take notes) WELL DONE GUYS,and THANKS !!!!!!!!

  • This is awesome Buck and wilma wow/ looking forward to the series.

  • Comment removed

  • James Cawley has come such a long way. Starting off with charity and homage, now realising a dream.

    James, great work !!!

  • Thus continuing the trend started when Buster Crabb appeared in an episode with Gil.

  • This is going to rock so hard we'll be lucky if our pelvises don't fall off. Cawley is great at retaining the original style and feel while bringing that extra kick of real humanity to a project. And this looks so polished...

    Buck and Wilma together again!

  • EEEEEEEEEEEEEP. This looks...amazing. I so, so have always loved Buck Rogers...ever since I was a wee lad. Every iteration of it. It's due to regain that glory, & it looks like we may be seeing just that. Great to see Gil & Erin onscreen again too! Ahhhhh, Erin Grey. My first ever crush, and still she remains the measuring stick I use against all other women. *hee* :)

  • Having Gil and Erin kick off the series as Buck's parents is powerful MOJO! :)

  • Nice to see Gil and Erin together again.

  • Totally Cool!!!!!

  • Wow! Looks great, I can't wait.

  • That was *excellent*! Surprising for what they do today, lol. (in a sense)

Um, did they call him "Lucas"? And he said his brother was "Tony"? And "Tony" is a nickname for "Anthony", which is what Buck's name is... (besides the "William", lol) I don't think I get that. But maybe it'll all pan out in the Pilot.

  • @SpaceLady79

Buck Rogers first name in the comics was "Buck". He was NEVER called anything else.

In the earlier novellas Nolan called the character "Tony" and "Anthony"... never Buck!

In the 79 series he was given the name of "William" with "Buck" as a nickname.

We tried to do honor to them all... with his brother named Tony and his father named William. And, yes, we changed his first name of "Buck" to a nickname and gave him the name of Lucas.

  • "William Anthony Rogers" in the 79-81 TV series. Mentioned in a first season episode (Happy Birthday, Buck). Just had to say :)

  • @andriech It's going to make my character of John Lucas Reeger (nicknamed by his father "Buck") look like a rip-off of you guys, even though I had the name since high school! :( It's from my yet-to-be-produced "Call of the Stars" series..... CRAP!

  • Wow, very cool

  • As I said on Star Trek Movie report, great job James Cawley. Can't wait to see this when it's finished.

  • holy moly.

i totally forgot i was watching a fan film.

    this is going to rock.

  • Their Star Trek episodes are "fan films." (if you wanna call them that, even though they secure big Trek talent in acting, production and writing) But they secured the rights to Buck so it's legit!

  • And this time, you got to pay for it!

  • @Fourteen40 I prefer their fan films to the new official "Star Trek" but that's just me. I also prefer Adywan's "Star Wars Revisited" to George Lucas '97 and 2004 SEs.

  • Absolutely amazing. What deph these characters have. Can't wait to see the end result.

  • Wow! I would never expect Mrs. Erin was a REAL quality actress! (Ok, I'm in Brazil and probably 99% of her work is out of my reach, so, no ofense Mrs. Erin!). She's so real! And yes: yet beautiful! She stolen the scene! :)

Puxa! Roubou a cena!

  • Wow, That was unespectally amazing. So much thoughtfulness and content packed into a scene. Imagine a franchise for a thinking fan! Erin Grey's performance was so moving and real, I am soo supportive of this project.

  • Looks great except for the eyelines, they are all over the place. I hope the DP for the rest of the series corrects this. Still very exciting and I love that Gil & Erin have a cameo.

  • Fantastic! I can't wait to see more!!!!

  • Erin Gray's still hot.

  • She's aged well.

  • This is well done, and you understand the sort of young man he is, but there didn't seem to be any Buck Rogersy about it.

I'm guessing the next trailer will take care of that.

  • Very well done!!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • With an opening Teaser like that, the rest just has to get better. BRAVO!!

  • MORE!

  • Stunning - and heartfelt - this is a winner! -Congrats to Bobby, Gil and Erin and all the rest of the team, and thanks for sharing.

    I loved it!

  • Beautiful work !!

  • Lookin' good

  • I look forward to seeing more. I've never actually seen buck rogers before. It will be interesting to see how this goes from WWI to futuristic space ships.

  • Fantastic! Brilliant to see the handover from the 80s series to the new one.

  • This looks very impressive. It's encouraging to see it's actually filming. I was worried it got put on the back burner or scraped. I look forward to more.
