They say they want to help out rural America in getting faster internet speeds or more neutral access to material. If you want to really find something in google, you can find it. I think this is all a scheme for the FCC to dig its claws into the internet. Fuck them.

"Protect" is just newspeak for destroy. I notice they're using the whole terrorist bogeyman now to try to get the public to go along with internet regulation. I listened to NPR this morning, and they were talking about Al Qaeda websites recruiting people that might turn into "lone wolves". To be honest, I've never ever run across any such websites, so for all I know, they could just be making shit up. I wonder what they'll deem as "terrorist websites" when the FCC gets regulation authority.

The British government secretly signed into law (in the last days of the Labour government "The digital economy bill" which gives them the power to disconnect people from the internet.............despite thousands of signatures opposing this, one of which was Stephen Fry. This is quite clearly open to abuse by the next government. Big brother is alive and well.

Net Neutrality shall prevail. Right now, it's Comcast's private network, and they can block whatever they feel like. We saw it happen with AT&T covering a Pearl Jam concert, where they cut the feed when Eddie started talking about George Bush.

Prepare for more of that. It won't happen right away, but if they win 100% control with no challenge, it's game over for end users.
