  • Not all American cars are muscle cars. But thats what people seem to think of when they hear American and car together almost anywhere outside of the U.S. Europeans say their cars are better because they have corners. The United States has corners too. Just not as many of them. And there are plenty of All-American cars that most Europeans have never heard of, or consider to be muscle cars. C2 and C3-current Corvettes are sports cars. Whether you like it or not. As is the Dodge Viper. As was the

  • @jharrypot2004 Pontiac Fiero. But I doubt anyone has ever heard of it because it was never sold there. It was mid-engined and stuck the road like glue. I'm just saying. Don't mix up American and muscle when you're talking about cars. We make sports cars. Just not as many as the rest of the world

  • ahh.. retro cars

  • The reason Why people think american cars are bad is because its built cheaply its cheap to own but most of the money went to performance... 1/4 mile to be exact thats why they seem to fall apart but I love muscle cars cause the point of it was it was cheap and it came with a load of power and you were suppose to spend money on how you wanted it to go. and I love that.

  • british sports cars can handle, but none of them could run 10's in the 1/4 stock

  • @dickcheese663 Ok, and how many cars can run 10's stock?

  • @csmybuttt my brothers daily driver is one of many just in TEXAS alone /watch?v=HePFfTDohrQ

  • @dickcheese663 So his 1971 Impala SS ran a 10.97 in stock form, as in, straight from the factory?

  • the lions suck

  • 6:11 - Love the Mullet

  • the best American muscle car is at 2:13!!!

  • Damn I get goosebumps watching that street racing, this was always my favourite episode, thanks for posting.

  • Pretty cool he got Seger to talk with him!

  • If you look at the history of American car makers, you will see it's very different from that of Europe. In Europe, you have many small roads with a lot of turns; very FEW big highways straight through, so Europeans made cars to go around those corners well in their Le Mans racing competitions. Americas roads are mainly wide and very straight, so the car culture adapted to this, thus the American car makers adapted their cars to fit that, thus they left the simple leaf-spring suspension in, etc.

  • @Northax

    that's correct.

  • Clarkson confuses me one moment he loves Muscle cars the next he hate them

  • 11 second cars in those days, doubtful!

  • WHATS AMAZING IS SOME OF THAT CITY IS GONE NOW I KNO I LIVE THARE or should i say here hmmm

  • whats the song that starts at 00:56

  • Dodge Charger Daytona all the way!!!

Clarkson needs to come back and make motorworld episodes once again! :D

  • These cars are why I love living in America!!!!

  • @Motorfordtoyota

    And easy women! :D

  • Those 2 huys in the bar are hilarious..."i wish, i'd have become a hair-dresser"...Loooool

  • Bob Segar? nice

  • No duh he wasn't so hostile about American cars back then, thats when American cars still knew what they were... these days forget about it. Coming from a native Detroiter this series is really depressing to watch. Dispite the current nature of the city I love it to death and I really wish something would become of it. I wasn't alive during the golden years of the city but it just depresses me to see how a once great city turned into what it is now.

  • Does anyone else notice the police at 1:42 ?

  • was the t bird at the beginning of the vid not a '56-57 and not a '55 cause they didn't have the tailpipes coming out of the rear bumper

  • The reason cars like this are seen as crap in britainand europe is because we have corners. The perfect mustang, in my opinion, is one i saw at a car show that was tuned by some german company who i cant spell :P

  • Well, I'm Norwegian, and last time I checked that was definatively in Europe. A land where the roads are rubbish, narrow and with loads of turns.

It still doesn't stop me from driving my old Corvette and enjoying every part of it.

  • @VikingAmcar

Only in norway are the roads shit, the rest of euroland is pretty good.

  • well, Astons costs about 5 times an American Muscle car but Jaguars are a lot cheaper and costs only about 2 times a muscle car

  • @daryl4classic Well, In america it is nothing but shitty, wide, congested roads! In the suburban areas. In the Country. it is nothing but open, wide open roads!

  • @daryl4classic Yeah, because it's not like America is a really big country with hugely diverse geography, including some of the world's largest mountain ranges (Which lead to curvy roads!) or anything like that.

Europeans forget that America is bigger than the entire EU combined, and driving from New York to LA would be like you driving from Lisbon to Moscow.

There ARE curvy, potholed, narrow roads here, and America has actually made cars that can handle them.

  • @daryl4classic American Ford is making Mustangs turn good now, look up Ford Mustang Boss 302 for 2012. It beat even the BMW M3 on Laguna Seca track.

  • Re: comments in the info box. Clarkson was always a huge fan of muscle cars.

  • I wouldn't call him a huge fan excactly, hehe.

You should have seen all the times he have taken a muscle car and argued that a british Aston Martin or Jaguar that costs 5 times as much is better in every imaginable and unimaginable way.

But I won't argue with the fact that he find them appealing in a way, after all, who doesn't?

  • Cool Bob Seger
