LOL That guy just blocked me from his channel for contradicting his presumptive guess work and projection regarding sociopaths. I'm a diagnosed sociopath myself, and I don't pretend it's not a disorder but it is definitely very misunderstood. Now it all makes sense, he was projecting his narcissistic failings onto sociopaths.
@Laughingblades You need to find a copy of "I, Sociopath" and skip the lies about it. It is a well made doc that for some mysterious reason has been deleted from YouTube.
@malkooth Lies? Sociopathy means you're born without an inherent conscience, unable to feel or with an extremely diminished capacity for feeling empathy, remorse, pity, or guilt ect, in my case it also comes with a tendency to get bored and constantly seek out lulz, but all the behaviorist crap are symptoms not the actual disorder, and the Psychopathy spectrum is a spectrum within Sociopathy that's been butchered in the west into being used interchangeably (incorrectly so), what lies?
@Laughingblades I think possibly that coded in the diminished capacity for feeling empathy response is the associated lack of poetic insight. When I said lies it was coded to infer what is being said about I, Sociopath by certain parties...the film is easy to understand. What pathological people do when they've found they've backed themselves into a corner with dishonesty is discredit the path that brought them there. Lots of times this very attempt to discredit only illustrates the
@malkooth The categories have evolved in America as the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex finds most profitable, I wasn't diagnosed in the US though. :p Not all sociopaths are pathological, people who lean too deeply into the psychopathic spectrum may be.
In the US they don't even listen to the experts anymore, they're already tried to forcibly merge sociopathy with psychopathy & destroy any distinction, now they've pretty much tried to do away with the disorder, doing the same to NPD
@malkooth Getting dox on Sociopathy now would be a bit harder, but what they're doing with NPD can be seen here tinyurl com/2fs3za7
In the US it's all about what can be diagnosed most liberally with as many broad reaching symptoms and used to justify the most drastic treatments and medication, it's a trillion dollar industry, the commodification of our mental health.
I don't reject the science of psychiatry mind you, only the corrupting influence of capital & the quackery it fosters
@Laughingblades I think we agree on this issue. I am not in favor of the commodifying aspect either. I think Adam Curtis addresses this issue very interestingly in one of his docs...I'll look it up and get back to you on which one.
Thanks for the NYTimes piece.
I find the DSM manual a bit disturbing in itself. Checklists do not seem to fit or assist in much in the realm of literature or mythology which I think is vastly important.

@Laughingblades From what I've read over time the categories have evolved. Can you point me to literature which discusses otherwise?
