@dalkarancalimon ,my friend made one himself.... he drew it by hand with a ruler and such ,and it looked like a robot hoovering popcorn up (One of the rooms had boulders and gold in it)....
I'm not too comfortable with people having laptops at the table. I know some folks will have their characters up, but I worry that they're prone to being easily distracted.
@Ogma01 It really kind of depends on the individual. I can multitask well and can have my laptop open and doing stuff without losing the thread of what's going on, but I know others that just can't.
@Ogma01 haha ,my friends and i play on a saterday, but we get distracted by my friends 2 kittens and my friends laptop..., and end up talking about World of warcraft instead aswell><
@Ogma01 I agree. I may be to old school but I have not been able to get a feel for laptops & ipods ex.. at the table. I feel it distracts, me and the player with it. I also hold strongly that it's just a bit of a mood kill. I like players to enjoy the game like a movie, but then there are alot of gadgets in the theaters these days to...Ugh damn these newfangled devices.
Im getting back into D&D i remember the days where i would sit down all cozy and play some D&D with my buds the problem is i sorta forgot how to play because i have not played in 4 years know a good website i could go to?
You guys and girl are super nerds, and i love it. *hugs you all* I've been playing for a whiile and was trying to be inspired to continue writting my campain. I've been hitting blanks and I've made some shitty parts. Sooo any hints on getting pasted that would be nice. :D
@epicman3000 Well, the question then is what exactly have you done on your campaign and where do you want to take it? :) I'll offer some advice if I can, but need a starting point.
@Phelanar OKay! Well they started in a city called Morrowraith. They were given simple tasks at first to help them learn the game (new players). After some time of that, a caravan was hit by kolbolds and they were to get the items stolen. Being noticed by General Atkins They were asked to join the "Black Guard" where the stopped a zombie horde in a small town. Then after some time as the BGs they kept getting attacked by Elves and Eladrin. As it turns out the King of Morrowraith was a Vampire.
@Phelanar They then picked who's side they wished to be on. Orcus wanting to slay the gods and make new ones. Or the Arcanist who wished them protected. The decided to go with Orcus. He took them to another releam where they soent some time being trained. Now the are working for Orcus and I have nothng left. :P
@epicman3000 Have Orcus start sending them on missions to help destabilize the other gods. It sounds like they're an evil group, so have them raid temples and churches. Have the other gods strike back and attack Orcus and the players. Have the players go exploring ruins and dungeons for the secrets or keys to destroying the other gods.
@epicman3000 That's harder for me to advise with. For me, I build my encounters by using the Adventure Tools that WotC released. Specicially the Monster Builder. It lets you take a level range and see monsters in that range from all different books, then further narrow things down by role (brute, artillery, etc) or origin (fey, shadow) or keyword or whatever. I suggest you do something similar. Pick a level range and look through your books, picking out cool sounding monsters.
I'm sorry and a tad old school I guess, but what I find distracting to the game more than anything is having the players looking at the whole dungeon map like it's a floor plan for an architect rather than keeping more imagination and surprise involved.
@Delarkinstrongbow It's a fair point. I don't like it either as I like the idea of surprise as both a player and a DM. However, sometimes it's necessary just to keep a game from bogging down as you draw a new part of the map every few minutes.
@rataranian I admit, I like that better too. That said, sometimes it's hard to do. Because it slows things down a lot sometimes. Whether it be because you've got a detailed map, because it's it's awkward to draw as you go (or have to get people to move stuff so you can uncover more of the map), or whatever. So the compromise usually is to just draw a lot of the map and ask people to pretend it's not there.
I would need a lap top, my math and handwriting skills are horrible.

Does anyone play Amber?

I used laptops for background music and quick access to the rules compendium online. I was also live tweeting the game most times.

what are the stones used for??
Dumezil357 8 months ago
@Dumezil357 The colored stones are to represent monsters. It's a bit easier to deal with for the DM since each monster can be a different color.
