So You Wanna Be A Singer. What's your back up plan?

@robertantonnyc....well of course you have to support youself while pursuing and working on your craft...I totally agree....but when someone usually says backup plan....or plan b ....a lot of times the talking about pursuing another career all together instead of the 1 that they truly love....and they just give up on their dreams and I think that's sad really.....

@osaeke It may be sad but there are millions of ppl out there just working a job with no real career aspirations. The difference between those who succeed and those who don't is often more about preparation and persistence than any other thing.

@robertantonnyc.....If you stay focused....study the game.....stay positive....and have a plan of attack.....then you can achieve anything you want to achieve...but to me....if your dedicated to a single goal then you absolutely should not have a Plan B. Period.

@osaeke I almost agree with you except I think you should always have a way, as an artist, to make a living while you're plying your craft. Whether it be waiting tables, building websites, sales, etc. Something flexible that allows you to make a decent living so that you can continue to study, audition, create, etc.

See that's the thing......you mentally shouldn't be thinking that you need a Plan B because that already puts in the persons mind that they're going to fail and that they need a back up plan. I think the mental approach should be...." This absolutely will work."

Personally...I believe that in order to be successful.....you shouldn't have a Plan B.....because it distracts from Plan A :-)

well the steady job Teacher, or something like that, the dream... I want to become a writer. Children books, maybe young teens. Actually currently working on my "art" for the kid books. I know I'll never be a Dr. Suse or Shell Silverstein but that's my dream to become someone like them.

Here's a tip: If you KNOW you'll never be as good, then you're probably right. If you KNOW that you will be as good, then you're probably right.

You have to create your own reality and then be the best you can be. All the rest will follow.

I've always thought I'd be a chef or maybe something to do with languages and travel if I wasn't IN LOVE with music and able to make money at it.

I think teaching is a very honorable profession. I don't know that I could do it for long periods of time, though.

Maybe workshops every now and then.

My plan was always...finish school and become a horse trainer (i love my horse riding too)...and a few other things ....but whether i sing on a stage or in my room, i know I'll be singing all my life....making a living out of performing my originals would be the ultimate ....:) My family and musical people around me are working hard so we'll see how it all plays out!

Hey Robert, (I'm sick, so I don't want to do a vid response, so here's my answer) if I had no choice, but to quit trying to be a singer, I would be a songwriter. Because I've submitted a song on a songwriting site, and they sent me a contract for it, and they also had it on a special CD, for all their best writers of that year, and I wrote the song when I was 13, so I believe I'd find a way doing that. (and still save the best songs for me lol)

Yes, I would! :) Yes, but once it's been released by someone else, there's a chance they could prefer the other's cover over yours, and you lose your song in a sense. lol Yes them. :)

i cant swim so i would have been like a gladiator fighting lol..but nawl I've been thru some hard times but i look at hard times as test,or a storm.If i can just hold on I'll make it through.I grew up in a small town(paris,tx) and when erykah badu first came out I wanted to work with her so bad!but I thought it was immpossible coming from a small town.8yrs later!Guess who worked for badu?Yes me for 2yrs I saw her more than i saw my family.If you see it you CAN Achieve IT!everything is possible
