Wait, hold the phone. "...is structured around a melody that keeps returning to represent the Doctor's past love hinted at in Silence in the Library. - Murray Gold"
@metacrisis47 I was under the impression that the name Melody Pond was in the planning from at least early in Series 5. There were at least rumors of a connection between "Pond" and "River" early on. The soundtrack for the Series 4 Specials was only released a month before the soundtrack of Series 5, so Murray would have had plenty of time to plan that comment ....
@JeffHCross Maybe but Steven has admitted that he just improvs the series. Meaning he himself had no idea River was Amy's daughter until he started planning series six.
@metacrisis47 While I haven't seen what you're referring to, I'd imagine he "claims" rather than "admits". The line about humans getting "Doctor" from the "The Doctor" dates back to when Steven was a fan posting on USENET in 1995. River's first appearance mentions the Byzantium and the end of the Universe. Coincidences? Maybe. Planning? Maybe. "Never ignore a coincidence unless you’re busy, in which case always ignore a coincidence."
@metacrisis47 Just found an interview (while writing my previous comment) where Steven said that both the Pond - River connection and making "The Big Bang" the episode title for what would later be revealed as when Melody was conceived was all on purpose.
@JeffHCross Really? I've read interviews where he admits he just comes up with stuff on the spot which would explain why there are no reference to River being Amy's daughter at all in series five despite the two interacting a lot.
@metacrisis47 River is obligated not to spoil anything as much as she can, so them interacting all those times could possibly mean she was just hiding it all that time.
@jackofblades6262 Still, there was no foreshadowing of River being Amy until the second half of season six which is odd since DW always adds a hint somewhere in there show about the big reveals
@metacrisis47 Well I might agree with you on it wasn't planned. However Doctor Who has a habit of leaving room for a could be explanation to things, such is the ability of a show about time travel.
This is absolutely brilliant!

Agreed! I "heard" both the Narnia theme and "Only the beginning of the adventure" (Narnia, as well) for a few seconds there!

For some reason this track just made me cry, just like most of the soundtracks by this fantastic composer. God bless Murray Gold.

A melody that keeps returning.
A MELODY that keeps returning.
Not sure if foreshadowing or just coincidence.

@Cobbledstories Coincidence. The whole Melody Pond thing wasn't planned until the last series began production.
