I hope the Bulls get Nick!!! (GIANT Bulls fan!) THey need a scoring SG and I find D to be more of a team thing. Rotations, help, double teams, etc., etc. Thibs can work Young into the system. There's a whole conversation on BullsConnect... I REALLY WANT NICK NOW!!!!!!!!! xD
How can these incredibly weak guys be NBA players? I mean, I get the difference between fast twitch and slow twitch blah blah blah. These guys are sadly weak.
@ArmoredFelix They're now weak - bulk muscle is not the goal and it's also the beginning of their training cycle so they start off with lower weight. It's all about balance, flexibility, explosion
@bballbreakdown Yeah, I mean, I get the difference but the way they are lifting so smoothly and even tempoed. I guess it's the difference between MJ at 22 and MJ at 38.
@MrFan32 Let me think, nope. I can't come up with a more obvious statement than the one you just made. Congratulations, you win the Mr. Oblivious award for the week.
@ArmoredFelix This is basketball, not football. I don't think strength is the top key in basketball. It's all about quickness athleticism. Unless of course you are a center or a power forward, which in this case they are not. When have you seen a line-man out run a conerback?
@PoppingJR Lawrence Taylor, Ray Lewis, Jerome Boyd. You didn't address the point I have made. It's not like I care. I am probably going to continue to think correctly. You are probably going to continue to think incorrectly. Now hush. I don't like to troll on Coach's videos.
@ArmoredFelix There is no right or wrong awnser to this conversation. I will leave it alone. But i dont think the linebacker u named will out run corners lol
@PoppingJR Boyd was clocked running a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash. CB Brandon Hughes, Oregon State 4.36 Lardarius Webb, Nicholls State - 4.36 Christopher Owens, San Jose State 4.42 Vontae Davis, Illinois - 4.43 Sherrod Martin, Troy - 4.43 CJ Spilman, Marshall - 4.43 Morgan Trent, Michigan - 4.43 Captain Munnerlyn, South Carolina - 4.44 Darius Butler, Connecticut - 4.45 Kevin Barnes, Maryland - 4.46 Asher Allen, Georgia - 4.47 Bradley Fletcher, Iowa - 4.47 Bruce Johnson, Miami - 4.47
@ArmoredFelix ok the fewer linbackers can out run some coners... But u guna tell me that more then 8% of the nfl linebackers are going to be that fast? but its off topic. i was jsut simply statin that as linebackers are blukin up and coners are workin on speed, 2 different things. Who do u think would win in a 1 on 1 basketball game, Patrick willis or prince amukamara. ( Just the first young players to come to mind.)
@PoppingJR TBH at this point, I'm just responding to see how far we can be ridiculous with each other. 1 on 1? The bigger player always has an advantage in street ball. I am not familiar with either of these two guys games in basketball(which means a hell of a lot more than their size). But who do you think would win Barkley or Gary Payton 1 on 1(i assume you mean make it take it and we're doing street ball rules) I'm actually not sure about who wins that one. Talent beats all.
@PoppingJR What I was actually saying, is that when you're paid millions of dollars to play a game it's your responsibility to be quick, fast(two different things) and strong. During my playing days all I was capable of doing was the quick and the strong. I was probably faster than I remember. All I can really remember was that I could always get to the rim but I was lucky to beat someone down court. Now that's not to say that if I couldn't pass off at the rim I was real successful.
@ArmoredFelix Sense u put it that way, then yes i see were ur gettin at. If u do get paid that much (Wich is highly over paid, fuckin ridicules) u would think they would be stronger and nothin but muscle specially paul george weighin at 200 and somthin, should be able to do wayyy more then they are in this video. But also who know if they were just now comin out of their little vacation or doin another type of workout. as in like low weights less rest ect...
@ArmoredFelix you obviously know nothing about basketball conditioning.. they are long, lanky players.. when people say you need height for basketball thats wrong you need length
@maxandophir Derp, admittedly I never made it past DIV 2, but you still have an idea what the real guys are doing and these two are portraying a different skill set. But it's clearly not obvious that you know anything.
@ArmoredFelix it not always about size when it comes to basketball it helps to have Lebron's or dwight howards size and strength but skill set is more important just ask Kevin durant
@ArmoredFelix you dont have to be amazingly strong to be in the nba, just be have a really high skill set, grerat mentallity, footwork, balance and speed and coordination are probly more important than strength
@DdotRedd Dude, these are the best out of 350 million people. I'm just shocked that these guys can be so pathetically weak and still be able to rise to the top.
Not sure if it's possible, but I'd love to see you do one of these with Grant Hill. It's absolutely incredible how much time that guy puts in at his age.
In any case, I enjoyed this. Looking forward to more!
@aecbandit Grant Hill and Steve Nash together would be amazing. I think they work out in Phoenix - if anyone knows let me know, maybe I can make something happen. I do want to get all of the LA guys first...
@Lodzio20 his man-defense is already very good, and he puts forth a lot of effort. His team, reading rotations, etc. is a work in progress (as it is for pretty much everyone else on the team, hoping Chris Singleton can teach his new teammates a few things like Haywood used to). if Nick works on his rebounding and passing he will be an all-star.
An excellent clip, better than practically 100 percent of anything you see on ESPN. Nice long shots with an eye towards intimacy rather than hyper-edited dunk reels. My hat is off.
Nick Young never struck me as one of those guys that works hard in the off-season. It's good to see he actually does put in alot of time in the weightroom. He's one of the top up and coming players in my eyes. If he can round out his game a little more I feel his going to be a force in the NBA.
@MiopTop LOL!! I bet he wishes he could take that line back! I had to rewind to make sure I heard that right. Paul is one of the better spoken guys out there, but he'll get better. Lance Stephenson should take note.
WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT LEBRON JAMES HE SOUNDS LIKE PAUL GEORGE can these young guys get THERE SHINE WITHOUT SOME DUMBFUCK MENTIONING A GUY WHO GETS ALL THE MEDIA HYPE BAD/GOOD IM SICK OF HEARING/SEEING LBJ's NAME IN BASKETBALL VIDEOS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH LEBRON JAMES ITS NICK YOUNG AN PAUL INTERVIEW NOT LEBRON DAAM
@JaySee5 OMG, I didn't realize that! Do you remember the argument I got into here about Aminu? I kept saying he isn't a small forward (which he still hasn't proven) and the guy kept getting angry at me?
Imagine Paul George, Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon and DeAndre Jordan in the lineup? AY!
@bballbreakdown AFA played like a SF at the beginning of the season and had some good spurts, but as the season dragged VDN put him in the dog house and kept starting and giving minutes to Gomes even though he was hurt.
@TheJunaid14 First off - lifting weights WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR GROWTH!!!
At 13, you'd be better off (IMO) doing lots of isometrics - push ups, sit ups, lunges, stretching and flexibility. Get really good with your balance and flexibility, be able to do push ups & sit ups -VERY SLOWLY - then you can progress to weights... REmember - basketball isn't about bulk, but quickness and bursts of strength...
@bballbreakdown I think they could be better sidekicks to Lebron/Wade than Lebron/Wade. They are going towards a Rudy Gay, Iguodala career and if teams don't max out and instead get them to be the 3rd option. They should compliment the superstars very well
Great doc Coach! I can't imagine how much players have to put up with when it comes to strict diets, constant days of just working out. I'd have to see a weeks worth of their schedule and try it out myself to truly understand the lifestyle they live.
J.J.Hickson got traded today for a first round pick to the Sacarmento Kings for some guy, not sure if you knew. You really got me to not like JJ at all, I really don't like him as a player and just in general he's very overrated in my opinion.
@NoName1325 Hickson got traded for Omri Casspi - I think Cleveland gets the better of the deal unless SAC can get Hickson motivated again.
Each player gets a binder with a personalized training regimen designed for him. Amazed that there are players who aren't in perfect shape when you see something like this.
@bballbreakdown There's nothing good about JJ though isn't he a lost cause? It looks like there's just so much to work on with him that you're just better off putting him at a different position and giving him less responsibilities.
Ultimately, this video would be my argument that players do not make enough/a good amount of money. I don't even need to go into detail. If you can, try to interview that player you don't like known as Mr. Bosh, he's working towards gaining muscle and weight.
Now all Nick young has to do is "go to work" on his basketball IQ!
