man i want one. to put a powerstroke in it.. just get a 302 or something. so that it has room, but is not so valuable. then go crazy with dual fuelers, big injectors and huge rails.
i got a 68 galaxie i love this car stock is very nice, wounder what it went for i agree so much with what he says everyone that sees me driving around asks me what it is and a lot if people mistake my car for a impala lol ya not many people know what a galaxie is
I had one of these when i was 16 (yes my first car) but it had a 390 2 door but was fun it was black and i put N-50-15 under the rear with straight duels it was great i wish i had it now .
Check out this link....looks like the same car as Jeff Whitaker's....and the area codes are in the same general area.....so it's probably a 390 car....as Jeff said....take a look and see what you think....
post the vin, no "Q" or "W" it's just a plain jane, badges are repos. factory disc brakes were standard on all 7 litres, what were you asking for the car?
You shoud be able to determine if its a factory 427 car through the VIN. If you go to the 1966 Ford Registry, the 7-Litre Registry, or the Ford Galaxie Club of America. The convienience panel is fairly scarce. The standard "Q" code 428 is the 7-LItre, with the 427 an option. From the factory, the 427 only came with a 4 speed toploader. THis is an automatic so it couldn't have come from the factory as an "R" code 427. Nonetheless, 7-LItre converts are scarce.
what about the 427 side oiler cammer motor. mmmm

Seems to be a fading memory I have of the 65 or 66 galaxies having the 427 were called the velvet beast.
They were certainly 4sp transmissions.
This year were very nice drivers none the less.
