where would be the best place to learn this? i want to study this sort of thing at uni but i dont even know what its called or what i should of studied at 6th form to get the chance to learn hypnosis, it seems amazing!!
From 0:33-onwards i couldn't think of anything besides the last ark scene from raiders of the lost ark. That would be a bit less relaxing than this method.
Once you have induced the state of hypnosis, you need to rapidly deepen and secure the state by using any one of the many classic deepeners such as guided imagery (e.g., having the client imagine walking down a staircase. With each step down, suggest that the clien'ts the body relaxes further).
Oh and KC, I was watching closely(i've been learning hypnosis as well) and I noticed at 2:00 you asked him to describe the feeling, was this a form of NLP marking to get him to "mentally" visualize the state again so he will go in deeper? Like did you ask him to describe it KNOWING you were going to interup and put him under during his recollection of the feelings?
In the situation you have described, hypnosis can be used, but not quite in the way you mentioned.
In an emotionally charged situation such as a heated verbal/physical confrontation, Hypnosis or NLP can be used to diffuse the situation before it becomes violent. Hypnosis or NLP techniques also can be used to confuse/disorient someone who is on the verge of physically attacking you, which could supply you with enough time to either strike first or to leave the situation.
In other words, you can establish a hypnotic state that leaves an attacker dazed or confused (stunned).
Once you have established such a state during an attack, then--in theory--you could deepen that state into what is commonly called "hypnotic sleep." However, the reality of the dynamics of an emotional confrontation generally will not cater to completing the deeper "hypnotic sleep." But you can get close enough to that state, to gain a large advantage (strike first or leave).
NOTE: Although the phrase "Hypnotic Sleep" is commonly used, hypnosis is not sleep. It is a state of focused concentration similar to meditation.
Hypnotic states can be used effectively with or without deep relaxation. Traditional hypnosis uses relaxation as a deepening and securing technique. Conversational or covert hypnosis evokes hypnotic states without causing the hypnotized person to experience deep relaxation.

Hey KC2XL, fellow bodybuilder here beginning his hypnosis learning,
Do you think it could be possible to use hypnosis to enhance workouts ? Like giving the suggestions that you wont feel the pain in a set and will be able to move more weight.
Maybe it could be triggered by an anchor (NLP way).
couldnt this also be dangerous to you if your feeling pain thats your body telling you to stop it. im not a bodybuilder so i dont know anything about painfull workouts. i would think if i keep going during pain a muscle could pop or something.
Yes, you can use hypnosis to enhance workouts. However, be careful when suggesting dissociation from body signals during exercise. When using this approach with an exceptionally suggestible client, you can create a situation in which he/she pushes through an existing injury unsafely, pushes past the point of failure (thereby experiencing abrupt loss of weight/resistance control during a set) and/or creates an injury by overworking a joint, tendon or muscle, etcetera. (Continued below)
Rather than using dissociation as a means of avoiding the pain or unpleasant "body signals" during exercise, have your client reframe those sensations and more deeply connect to the sensations of exercise he/she enjoys, while remaining aware and able to respond safely to "body signals" that warn of impending or existing harm.
are you sure he's in somnambulism? No test for analgesia? no spontaneous amnesia? no display of ability to speak in hypnosis while eyes are open and with successful test of analgesia?
Please review the video and note these two things:
(1) I referred to my client as a somnambulist.
(2) However, I did not refer to the depth of the hypnotic state he had just entered as somnambulism.
The person in the video is a client of mine, with whom I've worked several times. He is certainly a somnambulist. But, this video clip was posted to demonstrate 3 inductions; it was not posted to prove the client's depth of hypnosis, and it was not posted to demonstrate a somnambulistic state.
So, have you ever tried to use hypnosis on yourself? Just too help you, say, focus on a task or try to remember something? That is if it's possible to do that.
Hello KC, been watching your hypnosis videos for a while now and find them really interesting. This subject is able to go deep and was wondering, could he be triggered by accident when driving or other times when it would be dangerous? Do you get over to the UK, would like to meet you??
I am working with a Personal Trainer and his client base in England, not far from Stansted Airport. We are in the process of arranging my next visit. I was just there about 3 months ago, in November 2007. If you send your contact information via private message, I will contact you once dates have been set for my next trip. (Continued below)
It is possible that you could enter various levels of hypnosis while conducting activities such as driving a car, but it is unlikely that you would lose the ability to keep yourself safe. However, if you tend to reach somnambulism easily, then it would be dangerous for you to listen to hypnosis audio tracks while operating a car or other heavy machinery because you could suddenly enter a state of hypnosis that would severely limit your ability to handle the equipment safely.
Hi there I've been watching some Hypnosis videos lately and I was wondering, well I dunno for some reason I dont think itd work on me. HAve you run into a lot of people who totally thought it wou;dnt work or what?
With the exception of those who are either severely emotionally disturbed or mentally challenged (extreme deficiencies), all others can be hypnotized.
Those who say, "It won't work on me," usually have a misinformed impression of hypnosis and are often surprised to find that it works quite profoundly on them.
If you can concentrate and follow simple directions, then you can be hypnotized quite deeply. The stronger the mind and the stronger the will, the easier it is to be hypnotized.
So, to answer your question directly: Yes, people occasionally tell me that they think they cannot be hypnotized. But, those same people find that they can be hypnotized quite easily and deeply by me. Refer to my video titled "Officer Down! (Hypnotized Off-duty Police Officer) Part 2" to see an example of this.
I've posted videos here to give a visual aid to people who are studying hypnosis so they can see various techniques in action. The posted videos are not meant to teach the entire subject or a given induction. The way I recommend you use the videos posted here is to refine your own technique by noting things in the videos that normally would be missed by those not studying hypnosis.
Good work - and good explanations... but have you got any footage taken from the point of initial contact, with out any preconditioning? I've seen all the induction types, but am a bit nervous to try them, so I just do a 'safe' slow induction for now.
The rapid induction videos, unless otherwise noted, are done without preconditioning. For 3-5 minute inductions inductions done without preconditioning and with captions/commentary check out:
1. Sports Hypnosis: Example of a Client's Hypnosis Session
2. Hypnotized Fitness Trainer: Part 1--An Induction
3. The rapid induction/pattern interrupt videos (unless otherwise noted at the beginning of the video)
Solid work brother. It's fantastic to see someone who has an ability like this be morally and ethically clear and responsible. I have heard of people who take advantage of others using these skills, and it makes me sick to the stomach. Keep up the good work! :)
1. Yes, you can hypnotize yourself (a process which is commonly known as self-hypnosis).
2. Self-hypnosis is generally considered safe. However, before using self-hypnosis, you should consult your physician or a qualified professional who is familiar with your medical history.
3. Self-hypnosis can be effective if done properly. To what extent self-hypnosis is successful depends on the level of knowledge (about hypnosis) and tenacity of the person using it. (Continued below)
You can learn self-hypnosis by reading about it. But, I recommend that you learn how to use it properly and effectively from a good hypnotherapist or hypnosis counselor, who first will help you experience/recognize the state of hypnosis, then will teach you how to reach and to use that state on your own.
Yes, a person will wake up eventually if left alone in the state of hypnosis. Some people will wake up after several minutes. Some will fall into actual sleep and then wake up hours later. The time taken to wake up will vary from person to person.
i was watching some movie and a woman convinced a random guy to have sex with her and that he loved her, is that actually possible? it really didnt seem very real
The Svengali-like movie scenario you've described is a mix of unrealistic and realistic elements. You can exert strong influence over people's decisions and actions via hypnosis. However, the extent to which this can be done is often exaggerated in movies and on television.
WARNING: Do not attempt to use hypnosis outside the boundaries of common ethics. If you attempt to manipulate a person using hypnosis to the point of his/her feeling violated, then you could experience a dangerous backlash ranging from ire to sudden violence.
Confidentiality agreements are signed as part of the intake forms for all of my clients. So, aside from his personal information and sessions, I can mention (as apart of the publicly posted video demonstration), that he works on focus and relaxation. Any mental edge when pushing hard through a difficult set in the gym is an advantage. Good athletes constantly look for ways to get better and go further in their sport.
can you give other commands then sleep when you shock someone ?
like derren brown does in the russian scam he stops shaking someones hand, but without taking it to the face accetra and tell him to sleep he just takes the wrist into his other hand and say's.. just give me your wallet
how does this handshake work ?
and can u also shock someone and say give me your wallet ?
Yes, someone can be persuaded to hand over his wallet to a perfect stranger while influenced by hypnosis and NLP. However, the circumstances of such an interaction are often more complex than what you might presume by watching TV and movies.
You can use suggestions other than "Sleep!" during a shock induction. Study NLP and verbal pattern interrupts to learn more about it.
CAVEAT: Using hypnosis and NLP unethically can cause the victim to react in ways ranging from ire to violence.
are there any signs to look out for, that indicate the person is actually hypnotized? i don't really want to look like any idiot by asking someone to do something when they open there eyes when there not actually hypnotized.
Although not everyone exhibits the same signs, for the traditional hypnotic state you should look for profound relaxation, fluttering eyelids, swallowing repeatedly, and stillness (this is not an exhaustive list). Remember, someone can seem wide awake and be in a state of hypnosis.
I recommend that you study the Davis-Husband Scale for test suggestion and response correlation to depth of hypnosis. The D-H Scale is not absolute, but it's a good reference to use when learning hypnosis.
